Viomi V2 vs Roborock S6: the Differences Explained

The Roborock S6 and Viomi V2 are two newest robot vacuums released recently that look very promising considering the price and the given features. Both beasts have great features such as strong suction, wet mopping, lidar-based smart navigation, app control which allows you to set restricted areas and perform zoned cleaning. Recently, we have an opportunity to test and review the Roborock S6 and I want to tell you that it a very powerful and smart device. Despite the low price of $472.50 for the Viomi V2 Pro, is it a better choice than the more expensive Roborock S6 with a $259.99 price tag? In this article, I will try to compare the main features of both robot vacuum cleaners, show you the pros and cons of each model.

Viomi 2 vs. Roborock S6: which one is better?

The Roborock S6 has everything we loved in the previous S5 model and some improved and new features. It has a better ARM processor than the previous model and much faster and accurate navigation, it knows your home and where exactly it should clean with an improved water tank and advanced mapping.

The Viomi V2 is the first device in the Viomi model line that uses an LDS sensor (or lidar) to scan your house and to build a precise map. And if Roborock knows how to produce a decent robot cleaner since they already made a few successful robot vacuums, Viomi is a bit new in this area.

Both models can mop and sweep, support zoned cleaning and restricted areas, build an accurate map, etc. So are there any other reasons to consider buying the Viomi V2 over the Roborock S6? What makes the Roborock S6 one of the smartest in this price segment?

Since the Viomi V2 is no longer available to buy, have a look at the Viomi V2 Pro which is basically the same model with some improvements.

Features the Viomi V2 and Roborock S6 share

  • HEPA filtration

Both are equipped with a washable HEPA filter and are safe for those who suffer from asthma and allergy.

  • Real-time tracking

Both can be tracked in real-time. In the app, there is an ability to watch the robot building a map.

  • Water level control

For the Viomi V2, you can set the level of water dripping depending on your mopping needs. For everyday cleaning choose a low volume if you need to remove stubborn stains and make the robot mop the whole floor - set the high volume settings.

As for the Roborock S6, you can adjust the dripping water speed by toggling a switch on the water tank.

  • Restricted Areas / Zoned cleaning

Both models support setting restricted areas, zoned cleaning, and selected room cleaning option.

What is the difference between the two

Both robots look similar but when you compare both you can see the difference in behavior. Let's get over the specifications and other stuff to see how different the two robots are.

Design & Things in general

The Roborock S6 is one of the quietest robot vacuums on the market so far. It is easier to the ear when the robot cleans in the same room.

Nevertheless, both robots are Lidar-guided, the Roborock navigation is better as the Roborock robots are known for its navigation. The Viomi bumps into things mess the map, and in comparison with the Roborock navigates not as good.

The Roborock is better for homes with more furniture.

Another thing is battery life. The Roborock S6 is ideal for big homes while the Viomi is better to use in small to average houses.

If you own Alexa or Google Home, you would be able to control the S6 but not the V2.

One of the best things about the Roborock S6 is its accessory kit. It comes with extra tools including disposable wipes.

To conclude:

The Roborock S6 is quieter and has efficient navigation. It finishes the job faster than the Viomi in the same cleaning area and is more suitable for bigger homes.

Mopping

The most significant difference between the two would be mopping. The Viomi comes equipped with two containers, separately for dust and water. But when with the Roborock, you can do sweeping and mopping at the same time or shut off suction if needed, the Viomi does not allow doing so. It can either work with the water tank or dustbin, not both at once.

So with the V2, you have to vacuum first. You can get a two-in-one container separately tho.

The Viomi comes with an electronic water tank. It allows settings water flow depending on mopping tasks and also follows a dedicated Y-shaped path which is better with stains but the robot has to spend twice as much time.

With the Roborock, mopping is different. It has a smaller water tank and it is not electronic. The tank has a switch that can be toggled depending on the mopping jobs.

The Viomi has three water flow settings, the Roborock has two.

With the Viomi’s separate water tank, you get a bigger volume which means the robot covers a bigger area of hard floors.

With all that being said, the Roborock support no-mop zones that keep the robot off carpets in mopping mode, the Viomi lacks this feature.

To conclude:

If you have hard floors only and need mopping, the Viomi V2 would be a decent option. It does a good job with stains but keep in mind that you have to vacuum the floors first.

The Roborock S6 does its job at mopping too and would be a good option for those who don’t want to use the app in mopping mode. Also not suitable for big hard floor areas to mop as it has a small container.

Vacuuming

Where you really can see the difference between the two is vacuuming. Even though the Viomi and Roborock have similar specifications on paper, they perform differently on carpet. In our tests, the Roborock did a better job of picking up things as well as cleaning carpets.

The Viomi V2 is a decent option for low-pile carpets and hard floors but it would not be able to provide deep cleaning.

The Roborock S6 does better with picking up sand on both surfaces as well as deep cleaning carpets.

In addition, the Roborock has carpet identification that boosts suction once the robot recognizes carpeted surface. This option helps to save battery life.

The Roborock S6 has a cleaning brush with detachable side tips which is ideal for those who have long hair as it gets clogged around the edges the most.

The Viomi has a solid brush which is challenging to clean. I have long hair and it does make a difference for me.

To conclude:

The Roborock S6 is a better choice for carpet and picking up stuff. If you have long hair, the Roborock would be a better choice.

The app

Both robots can be connected to the Mi Home. The Roborock S6 also supports the Roborock app.

Options both robots share:

  • Room cleaning
  • No-Go zones
  • Zoned cleaning
  • Real-time tracking

In addition, the Roborock also has no-mop zones and saves up to 4 floor maps.

The Roborock S6 is perfect for multilevel houses

As I said before, the Viomi allows setting water flow which the Roborock lacks.

As a user I find the Roborock to be more smooth and user-friendly.

The interface of both robots is different. The Roborock looks minimalist which I like more as well.

To conclude

The Viomi V2 is a decent robot if you don’t have carpets or live in a big house. If you don't mind a buggy app and just need a decent mopping, the Viomi V2 might be your pick.

The Roborock S6 has a better app, longer runtime and performs better at vacuuming. Not the best at mopping but does its job just fine to keep the floors clean for as long as possible.

Roborock S6 glance

Roborock S6: what in the box

The Roborock S6 took all the great features users loved about the Roborock S5 and added new options.

The robot saves up to 4 floor maps

It delivers the same 2,000 Pa of suction, has the same 20 mm clearance and dustbin size but got quieter than the older model.

The Roborock S6 automatically divides the created map into the rooms after finishing cleaning

The robot vacuum cleaner identifies carpet surface and boosts suction power providing deeper cleaning.

The app supports restricted areas, zoned cleaning, and the newest feature - scheduling the robot to work within a certain room at a specific room.

The robot is also perfect for bigger houses thanks to the multiple mapping storage.

Get the Roborock S6 if you...:

  • Live in a big house. Thanks to the longest-lasting battery and resumption the Roborock is perfect for big homes.
  • Your home is mostly covered with carpets. Because of the strong suction, good clearance, and carpet identification, the S6 provides deeper cleaning on thicker carpets.
  • Have a pet. Even though the S6 does not have a big dustbox, it's cleaning brush has detachable parts that make cleaning it from pet hair easier. And strong suction picks up pet hair even on thicker carpets.
  • Live in a multiple level house.
  • Want a powerful robot vacuum cleaner that does not make lots of noises.
  • Someone in your family or you suffer from an allergy.
  • Want mopping. Yes, the Roborock S6 has a smaller water tank but if you don't have lots of space with no carpets - the newest water level control and a few types of the mopping pads would be very useful.

Another thing worth mentioning about Roborock is customer support. They respond quickly and are always ready to solve any issue. You can either contact them via Facebook or official email:

US SUPPORT: support@roborock.com

EUROPE SUPPORT: support@roborock-eu.com

The Roborock S6 also comes with a two-year warranty while other robots normally have a one-year warranty.

Viomi V2 glance

Viomi V2: what in the box

The robot is equipped with ten sensors that help it to navigate including the LDS laser that scans the surroundings to build the map of the floor which makes navigation more efficient.

Viomi claims the Viomi V2 has the highest suction power of 2,150 Pa when Roborock claims their S6 model has 2,000 Pa of suction power. Our tests tho showed that the Roborock is better at vacuuming.

The Viomi is equipped with a big water tank and dustbin. The big dust container is better for pet owners. Still not the biggest and we would recommend getting it empty after every cleaning, but at least you don't have to clean the dust and dirt in the middle of the cleaning cycle.

In mopping mode, the Viomi follows a Y-shape path thanks to which it goes over the same spots a few times. The app allows switching water dripping level from low to high depending on your needs. I would recommend setting it on a high level no matter what your mopping tasks are.

The Viomi V2 follows a Y-shape path in mopping mode and supports water flow control in the app.

The Viomi V2 is great for homes with bare flooring thanks to the 560 ml water tank. Most of the robot vacuums have 150-300 ml containers.

Viomi V2 Mopping test

Get the Viomi V2 if you...:

  • Don't have carpets and want the mopping feature the Viomi V2 would be better since it covers more when mopping before the container gets dry.
  • Have more than one pet. The container is big enough to hold more pet hair.
  • Your home is covered with thin carpets.

Price & where to buy

Roborock S6:

Viomi V2 Pro:

Wrap It Up

Both models are great at cleaning carpets and bare flooring. However, since we got to test both of them there is something you should know about.

The Viomi V2 has a raw app. It has some features that don’t work and the app itself is not intuitive. Even though the Viomi has some nice options the Roborock S6 does not, it makes the robot not suitable for those who actually are going to use the app. Also, the Viomi is not integrated with Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

On the other hand, the Roborock app has more features, it stores four maps and can be scheduled to work in a particular room. Overall, the app is more smooth and user-friendly.

Also, we put both of them through a heavy test with sand on a medium-pile carpet and figured out the Viomi V2 was not able to pick up most of the sand. Of course, it is an extreme condition and you will not have your place this dirty. In real life, the Viomi V2 does a decent job on low-pile carpet but not as good as the Roborock.

The cleaning brush is a thing to consider too especially if you have pets or long hair. I do have long hair and the Viomi’s solid roller is a bit of a headache to me. Don’t get me wrong, the Roborock S5 has a similar brush but since hair tends to get stuck in the edges it becomes challenging to get it untangled. Unlike the Roborock S6 brush that is disassembled and much easier to maintain.

Mopping is an option many people want a robot vacuum to have. The Roborock S6 has a smaller water tank but it can do mopping and sweeping at the same time so you don’t have to vacuum first. Theoretically, the Viomi V2 also can do both things at a time by attaching a mopping pad and a cloth but in this case, you need to damp the cloth manually and it won’t be wet for too long. Because of the Y-shape and water level control in the app, the Viomi performs better at mopping but also spends twice as much time. If you have a big cleaning area without carpets, the Viomi would be a better choice.

Also, keep in mind that the Roborock S6 is much quieter than the Viomi V2. The Viomi V2 reminds me of the Roborock S5 that is noisy in MAX mode. While the Roborock S6 can clean in the same room as you are and won’t distract you, the Viomi will definitely be more noticeable.

Consider customer support as a thing too. While it is pretty clear how to contact Roborock and get some help, it is challenging to reach Viomi if you have any issues.

To Conclude

The Viomi V2 is the right option for those who are looking for a robot vacuum under $500 with efficient mopping, and good build quality. The robot is ideal for small to average homes with thin carpets. If you don’t mind the app that might not be as polished as the Roborock app, and none of your family has long hair, get the Viomi. If you want better mopping, get the Viomi. The Viomi V2 is a decent vacuum cleaner that performs great at mopping but is not good for pet and long human hair nor carpet.

Roborock S6 is the best option for those who live in a big house with more than one level. It is quiet and does a superb job on carpets. If you are looking for a premium robot vacuum that would have the best navigation in the industry, go with the Roborock S6. The app is easy to use and very minimalist. If you have pets, you will love the new cleaning brush with detachable parts. The Roborock S6 is ideal for large homes, thin and medium-pile carpets, and bare flooring. If you want some additional options like carpet identification, if you live in a multiple-store house and are ready to spend some extra — go with the Roborock S6.

Viomi v2 pro is almost perfect now after firmware updated. multi floor maps are added.

Simon from South Africa ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hi there - how do you save more than one map when using the app? I want to save one map of my floor plan for vacuuming and then save a second map where I can insert restricted areas (where my carpets are located) for the mopping mode.
But I can’t save more than one map and I have the latest firmware. Grateful if you can help? Thanks

Hi Simon, which robot vacuum are we talking about?

Viomi v2. Thanks

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

Unfortunately, I don't know as I live in an apartment and no longer have the Viomi V2. I am not sure the Viomi V2 supports multimap. The Viomi V2 Pro does (or at least they are working on it).

Chung Do ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

viomi v2 have 2 version different . the one use with mihome app . can store 5 maps . the one used with viomi app just store 1 map. which map you are using right now ? . If your robot work with Mihome app it can store more than 1 map . first go to setting click on 3 dot on top right turn on memory map . if the second map is same first map it may not store . you need to make it different . moving your furniture close door ETC the robot detach the different it will save the map . go to MAP LIST you can see your map listed in there click on the map you want to edit then click set it as current map . it will work on that map . hope this help .

Simon from South Africa ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

Thanks for your advice. I am using the Mi Home app. The problem here is that because the Viomi V2 does vacuuming and mopping you don’t want to use the same map for vacuuming as the map for mopping. This is because in my home I have carpets in my room that are good for vacuuming but I do don’t want the robot to mop! I solve this problem by creating “restricted areas” over the carpets. This means the V2 will not go on the carpets when it is in mopping mode.

The best solution is to be able to save the same map TWICE. Then I can have one map with no restricted areas for vacuuming and another map with restricted areas for mopping.

I was reading that Viomi V2 has a different app called "Viomi Robot". Is it out-dated? Shall I use Xiaomi Home app?

Michael ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

There are two versions of the Viomi V2. One is for the Chinese market, it is compatible only with the Viomi app, another released for the international market and it works only with the Mi Home app. Most likely you have an international version that should work only with the Mi Home app.

I am looking to buy a robot vacuum+mop. I am so frustrated and confused by the naming of xiaomi products. I've been browsing without any aim for hours on websites...now i have to decide between
Xiaomi Mi Roborock S6
Xiaomi MiJia Roborock S50 (Mi Robot 2)
Xiaomi Roborock S5 Max
Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C
Xiaomi Viomi V2 Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro
Xiaomi Roborock Xiaowa

God knows what i will get. I think i just buy one philips and that's it :(

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Cristi. I agree, it might be confusing but let me help you with the naming.

So there are two manufacturers: Xiaomi and Roborock.
Xiaomi has four models:

1. Xiaomi Mi Robot (only vacuum);
2. Xiaomi MiJia 1S (only vacuum);
3. Xiaomi STYTJ02YM (vacuum + mop);
4. Xiaomi MiJia 1C (vacuum + mop).
I have tested the latest two and can say that the MiJia 1C is a better vacuum but the STYTJ02YM is a better mop.

Roborock has 7 models:

1. Roborock Xiaowa E2 (vacuum + mop);
2. Roborock Xiaowa E3 (vacuum + mop);
3. Roborock S4 (vacuum);
4. Roborock S5 (vacuum + mop);
5. Roborock S5 Max (vacuum + mop);
6. Roborock S6 (vacuum + mop);
7. Roborock S6 Pure (vacuum + mop).
If you are not tight on budget, I would recommend getting the Roborock S5 Max, it is the best value for the price.

Does that help?

To know more, have a look at our Xiaomi comparison and Roborock comparison.

I would recommend going with a Roborock because of good build quality and cleaning performance. Also, they have great customer support which is also important.

Feel free to ask more questions if you have one.

Thomas ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

I am also confused by the naming of Xiaomi products.

See below link for the Scandinavian line-up:
https://www.mistore.se/en/smart-homes/robot-vacuum-cleaners/

- It says "Xiaomi Roborock S6"
- But also "Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro" - which looks similar to a "STYJ02YM" or a "VIOMI V2 Pro".

I am confused; what is the "Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro" and how does it relate to "S6"?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Yeah I know what you mean. The sellers often don't know what they sell.

To make it easier, have a look at the brand logo. Roborock has a "Z" like Zorro on its robots. Xiaomi robots have something that looks like a kitten's head :)

This store has the Roborock S5 and S6 in different colors and modifications and the first two would be the Xiaomi MiJia STYTJ02YM aka Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro white/black (with lidar on the top), and the Xiaomi MiJia 1C which is called Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop (without a "tower" on top).

But the official naming for all these models is in the comment I have posted earlier in this thread.

Thomas ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Thanks. I try to figure out if I shall go with "Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro" or "S6", but that itself is difficult due to the complicated naming.
Will everything be merged and called "Xiaomi" eventually, or kept developed individually?...
- Is "Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro" equally new as S6?
- Is "Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro" using similar software as S6?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Roborock and Xiaomi robots are completely different machines.
I love the Roborock app and customer support better. Same goes for the built quality but the Xiaomi MiJia 1C was built by Roborock and overall the best robot for the price which I can't say about the Xiaomi MiJia STYTJ02YM.

Overall using Roborock leaves a better experience with smooth navigation, friendly app, cleaning quality etc, etc.

On carpet, the Roborock works better than the Xiaomi MiJia STYTJ02YM (aka Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro) and I would say it is good at mopping and vacuuming hard floors. MiJia 1C and Roborock robots do a better job on carpet.

Xiaomi and Roborock are different companies. You can read the Reddit post about the companies and the products.

The software (Xiaomi MiJia STYTJ02YM (aka Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro) is different compared to the Roborock robots, these are (Xiaomi STYTJ02YM and Roborock S6) not similar models and they both perform differently on carpets, have different apps, etc.
But the MiJia 1C was built by Roborock so they use similar software, yes. They are similar in terms of cleaning quality and overall the MiJia 1C (in my opinion) is better than the STYTJ02YM (in terms of cleaning performance).

To make it easier: the Roborock S6 is better on carpet, big houses, long human hair and pet hair, better customer support, etc. It is also good on hard floors. Even tho mopping might not be the best but still a good feature to have.

The Xiaomi MiJia STYTJ02YM is good at mopping and vacuuming hard floors.

Thomas ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Thanks

My feeling is
- S6 is the safe choice in terms of features, but also most expensive.
- MiJia 1C is good, but personally I may miss the laser-guided navigation.. but it really depends on the software, and I honestly don't understand if it will be too limiting, e.g. can I tell it to clean specific rooms, map feature working well, does it plan trajectory efficiently, ...
- STYTJ02YM (Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro) is offering laser-guided navigation but is cheaper than S6. I was told that it uses different software than Viomi. However, since the product is not developed by Roborock I am not sure if it will get the navigation features that has been praised for S6. I have only hard floors, so software/spare parts/support are the major unknowns to me - everything is called "Xiaomi" - at least in Scandinavia - and Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro should be using (some) spare parts from S5/S6.

Do you have a comment on navigation?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Well, let's see...

If you think you are going to use the specific room features and want better navigation, do not go with the MiJia 1C.
The S6 is a good vacuum indeed, it would be quieter, have a better cleaning brush with detachable tips, etc etc.
I'll charge my Xiaomi and let it run again to see how it navigates around furniture. The robot still has the same features as the S6 such as room cleaning, virtual walls, zoned cleaning, etc. In terms of navigation, the Roborock robots are the best anyway but you might not notice a big difference between the two if you never compared them.

JasonC ⋅ 4 years, 7 months ago #

Updated to the just release firmware 3.5.8_0034. Problem still exist. Not releasing enough water before mopping.. Plus one addition issue which is random. After cleaning up my house, the robot does a "side sweeping" of the whole house but in mopping function before it goes back charging.. These people working in the software department really sucks man.. How hard can it be, just codes and common sense..

*people who are lazy to pre wet the mop before mopping pls don't buy Viomi V2 Pro for now..

Anywen ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hello,
I've updated my viomi V2 to this firmware too, and noticed the Y shape mopping disappeared.
Does your still mop using the Y shape ? (I also noticed your issue with the Side sweeping, but not the water as I wet the mop before)
Best regards

JasonC ⋅ 4 years, 7 months ago #

To get a full map the fastest is do a side sweeping. BTW the newest firmware seems to brick my mopping function. The full water tank doesn't release enough water to mop the floor. The mop was dry when the mopping starts and the water was very slowly released even though the water level is set to high. Before the update, the pump will give it a good strong pump of water before mopping starts. Now, it just give it a little push..i have to pre-wet the cloth first before I do mopping after the update. Are you guys experiencing the same?

AdamD ⋅ 4 years, 7 months ago #

We are having the same problem! After the update the mopping function is not working because no water is being released! Do you know what we can do?:

JasonC ⋅ 4 years, 7 months ago #

Was told by local(SG) distributor Viomi knows about it and is coming up with a fix in a week or 2. Btw, it is still releasing water but not long after it starts mopping.. So what I do now is pre-wet the mop for now.. Works great for me..

New firmware here on Viomi V2 Pro 3.5.8_033! Multifloor, multi scheduling (with various work), consumables statistic and more (i need a history revision too)
The robot also have new pattern when work,

Anna ⋅ 4 years, 10 months ago #

Thanks for the reply. Every time I start it it starts drawing a new map (I have memory map ON in settings). So basically I have no way of setting permanent restricted areas and because evry time it draws the map from scratch I can't tell exactly where these areas are since the map is not accurate until the robot reaches these places.... I saw on youtube many comments from people with the same issue and I am wondering if I return it whether there is anything at all that I can buy that actually remembers the map... very disappointed.

Etienne ⋅ 4 years, 9 months ago #

Hi, have you tried to leave it complete a full clean? The first time it must perform a full clean (and scan) of your appartment and return to base on its own. Only then will the map be saved in the app.

Anna ⋅ 4 years, 9 months ago #

It remembered the map after about 20 full cleanings. Now it is ok.

Anna ⋅ 4 years, 10 months ago #

Hi

Do you know if viomi v2 pro is compatible with magnetic tape? What is the point of setting restricted areas in the app if the robot creates a new map every time it starts.. :/ so I am thinking of magnetic tape.

Michael ⋅ 4 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Anna,
The Pro version should save the map, as well as the Viomi V2. It doesn't work for you? I didn't try the magnetic tape by myself, but have heard from other users that it doesn't work.

Excellent tip Natalie! The s5 max looks very interesting and it is now my target!
The December 15 is an official date to come online at amazon, or a predection? And it will be amazon Europe or USA?
My problem with gearbest or aliexpress (where it is also available) is the delivery time and possible extra customs costs..
Thank you!!
Best
Pedro

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 11 months ago #

It was confirmed by Roborock but I am not sure is it an official date or not and it is only related to the US Amazon. I don't know when it will be available to buy in Europe tho, for now, you can only get it on Gearbest and Aliexpress.

Wish I had more information.

Pedro Ferreira ⋅ 4 years, 11 months ago #

Hi! Excellent article. Thanks.
One thing it's not clear to me is: Does the Viomi mops and vacuums at the same time? Or every time I want to just vacuum-clean I need to remove the water tank?
Another question: is it possible to pre-define in which rooms/areas the robot (roborock or viomi) should mop?
Thanks in advance!

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Pedro, thank you :)

1. The Viomi has twp separate tanks: the water tank and dustbin so you can either only vacuum or only mop because you need to switch a container for a task you need it to do. The Viomi V2 PRO, hovewer, has a 2-in-1 container so it can do mopping and swepping at the same time.

2. You can set zoned cleaning (or room cleaning) before letting the robot go so it will go work there but it cannot understand the difference between mopping and sweeping like those that has no-mop zones, it will just go clean there whether it will be in sweeping or mopping mode. But zoned cleaning will not be saved, you have to set those zones every time when the robot is about to start, hovewer, you can schedule the robot to go to a particular room (room cleaning) but cannot schedule a smaller zone.

Hi Natalie. thanks for your reply.
in that case, it doesn't sound very smart if I've to set up zoned cleaning manually every time.
Do you know if with the roborock s6 it's possible to schedule specific rooms to be cleaned on specific days, and if so, if it's possible to set up the type of cleaning for each room (with mopping or not)? Any other robot that has offers this possibility?
Once again, thanks and keep the good work :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 11 months ago #

No problem, Pedro :)

The Roborock S6 supports a specific room scheduling so you can set it to work in the kitchen on Monday at 10 AM and the living room on Tuesday at 11 AM. Tho it is not possible to do so for mopping or sweeping. If you attach mopping attachments to mop (let's say for mopping on Monday) it will mop, if you don't, it will sweep.

Have a look at the newest Roborock S5 Max, it is not available on Amazon for now (going to be on sale by the December, 15) but you can already get it on Gearbest. With this robot, you can schedule mopping at a specific time on a certain day and even make it mop a particular room too.

Best,
Natalie

Hi! I have a problem on a Xiaomi Mijia Robot STYJ02YM, its basically identical vacuum to Viomi V2. I have this problem after an update and my vacuum telling me «water tank(reservoir) is not installed, please install water reservoir», but I inserted 2 in 1 box inside and it tells me «2 in 1 water tank is well installed».
can somebody have a suggestions what to do? Thank you very much, appreciate it!

I had the same problem as you; I coukd solve just switching off the robot for time and putting the water tank out of the machine. After doing so, I reset the machine and everithing was working right again.
Actually everytime that the tank rest plenty of water all night long the problem start again abd I sokve it in this way.
Hope that would be useful.

Hi Michael,
Yes I am using Mi home App (Xiaomi Home) it was in instructions indicated this App when I received robot. Now its asking to update from current version 3.4.5_0021 to new 3.5.3_0030 and when I press update it always fails and says update time out. I tried all methods remove App reinstall and nothing. Tried on different models of phones always same error also even created new robot account. And no support from Viomi tech.

Sorry, have no idea how to fix it. I've seen a lot of comments on Facebook regarding the firmware update issue, some users fixed it by reinstalling the app, others recommend to reboot the robot or disconnect and reconnect the battery. Anyway, I'll let you know if I find how to fix it.

Hello I bought this Viomi robot in August in some Chinese website. They send to me to Europe. All was working fine for 2 month but in beginning of October App lost maps and now App doesn't update to new version I tried everything but still does not update so it means robot work only when you press the button. So does anybody has same issue? And resseler only appologising and can't do anything. After that issue I check all forums and many people has same issue. So definitely do not reccomend to buy this robot from China. But if anyone solved the issue with App please share your experience, overall robot is very good in cleaning and mopping but without App you can't do anything.

Hi Viki,
Are you using the Viomi Robot app or Mi Home app?

chris ⋅ 5 years ago #

Are there any updates on the state of the application of the viomi? did the company update the app, improved the User Interface, or have the released the product and abandon it? my thoughts on the two products above is that the viomi is a better product (for me), but the application problems deter me from buying one.

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately, the beta app which you can see on the screenshots above, is not released yet. I'm very disappointed, a few months passed and they still can't release it. Even this beta app has pure English localization and not as smooth and stable as the Roborock app.

The Viomi V2 has a much better mopping feature, and this is only one significant advantage compared to the S6 (okay, another one is price).

Our tests on carpets and bare floors show that the Viomi is much worse than the Roborock S6 in terms of picking up sand and dirt. Also, the Roborock S6 has more efficient navigation (it spends 37 min to clean the entire apartment when the Viomi needs ~50 minutes to finish the same apartment).

In the comparison table you said both have room recognition and yet you wrote in Why buy S6 - that it has room recognition and Viomi V2 doesnt. I think you wrote this review not base on actual use but on specs

Natalie Red ⋅ 5 years, 1 month ago #

When the article was written the Viomi V2 didn't have the room recognition option. I am using a beta version of the Mi Home which has this feature however, it does not allow scheduling the robot to clean a specific room. The Roborock app does. I believe it will be released soon so everyone can use it as well.

Anyways, the article has been fixed.

Hey Natalie, Viomi has now room recognition and also option to choose&clean.

Natalie Red ⋅ 5 years ago #

Thank you, Mat. Fixed that :)

Hi,
Can anyone advise does Viomi V2 has the functions to pickup long hair and cut into small pieces so that it will not tangle around the brushes or the devices?

Natalie Red ⋅ 5 years, 1 month ago #

Hi, Kate :)

If you are looking for a robot that handles hair very well, the Viomi V2 might not be the best. The brush is solid, hair clogged on the edges and not very easy to get it clean (see the pic down below).

It is not bad either, but it will take some time to maintain the roller.

The Roborock S6 though has a disassembled brush and sucks up most hair straight into the bin. I would say, the Roborock S6 is one of the best solutions for pet hair among those robots that don't have silicone brushless rollers.

What is the difference between Roborock S6 and Roborock T6? Are their side brushes similar? And do both of these robots have microfiber (not disposable) mops in the box?

Иван ⋅ 5 years, 3 months ago #

Нет никакой разницы!
это одно название: Roborock S6 (T6) Vacuum Cleaner.
T6 это для Китая, S6 для других стран.
в комплекте идут две тряпаки многоразового использования,
и 10 шт одноразового.

All sounds good! Just one question, in the text it says 2 times that the Viomi v2 has multi level support, yet in the table on top it says it doesn't support multi-level maps...

which is true?

Natalie Red ⋅ 5 years, 3 months ago #

Hi Willem,

There is not much information about this model. From what I understand by reading other reviews, the Viomi V2 only saves one map, the way Roborock S5 does. We will have a chance to test it soon and know for sure.

So if you own a multiple-level house, the Viomi V2 will have to rebuild a map every time when cleaning the second floor. Thanks for noticing, the article has been fixed.

Viomi v2 pro have option multiple map saving

Chung Do ⋅ 5 years ago #

we don't know yet . hope the app add this option in the future I bough this vacuum robot for that option . as it said multi map only work on viomi v2 PRO

Jeff Taylor ⋅ 5 years, 4 months ago #

I own the viomi v2. It cleans great, but there literally is no app support. At least in the US. It isn't supported by the Viomi robot or Mi home app. Very disapointing. I would stay away from this model until they have software support

Natalie Red ⋅ 5 years, 3 months ago #

Hi Jeff,

Yes, the Viomi V2 looks so good and has to perform well, however, the software support seems raw and needs improvements.

We hope, the company will fix it as soon as possible because, with no app, this robot lacks many high-end features many consumers paid for.

Natalie

MI home app support now . but some feature doesn't work because you get standard Viomi v 2 all feature work on viomi v2 pro
