Summary

In terms of mopping, this model does a great job. With the Y-shape, it is able to get rid of fresh stains and overall does a great job on hard floors. Unfortunately, the water tank has a leaking problem. The app needs to be polished since it still has some bugs and glitches. I would not suggest buying this robot for those who have medium-pile carpets and pets. It will simply not be able to pick up pet hair and collect dust hidden away in the carpet. But it is a nice robot vacuum for hard flooring and low-pile carpets. All in all, this is not my most favorite robot vacuum but it can be a good choice for those who want good mopping ability, don’t have thick carpets, and don't want to pay more than $400 for a flagship robot vacuum.

Xiaomi is well known on the robot vacuum cleaners market thanks to its first robot vacuum, the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner.  Two years later, Xiaomi released a new robot vacuum - Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P / Pro (code name: STYJ02YM). I’ve got an opportunity to test this robot vacuum and share my thoughts about it in this review.

There are a few versions of the robot: STYTJ02YM (or STYJ02YM) — Chinese version, SKV4109GL (international black), and SKV4110GL (international white).

Let’s start from our video review, where we tested the robot in different conditions and tried to cover all the main features, cleaning performance and issues of the Xiaomi STYJ02YM robot vacuum cleaner.

Design & Navigation

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) has the same design as its older brother, the Xiaomi Mi Robot.

Because of a 2-in-1 water tank, the Xiaomi can vacuum, mop, vacuum and mop at the same time.

With the LDS laser on top, the robot scans the surroundings to create a map of the cleaning area so the robot knows where it should clean. Mapping helps the vacuum to cover the whole area without having it cleaning the same areas twice or leave some areas untouched.

Lidar helps to create an accurate map of the cleaning area

When the vacuum is working, it follows a back-and-forth navigation pattern.

The cleaner is equipped with 12 high-precious sensors that help it navigate around without falling off, bumping into furniture, or just be more careful when operating.

When it finishes cleaning, it creates a map that can be divided, merged, and has the ability to name each room. This feature is very helpful if you don't need to clean the whole house. Just set the robot to go directly to the kitchen/bedroom and let it work.

The most significant improvement over the previous models - mopping feature. The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) can mop, sweep, mop and sweep at the same time. Neither the Xiaomi Mi Robot or Xiaomi MiJia 1S Robot Vacuum can mop.

The Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM package includes many extra accessories

There is also an extra side brush.

There are also two containers in the box: a dustbin and a 2-in-1 box for water and dirt.

Mopping mode

The Xiaomi is equipped with two containers, the one (550 ml) for sweeping (dust container), the other container (550 ml) is 2-in-1 for mopping and sweeping. The second container can be used if you want the robot to mop and sweep. The previous models have a 420 ml dust container, by the way.

2-in-1 water tank & two microfiber mopping cloths
2-in-1 water tank & mopping cloths

If you need the Xiaomi to mop only, the 550 ml water container can be bought separately.

We are not sure if you can make the robot only mop with the included container, though it can do both at a time.

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) can sweep, mop or sweep and mop at the same time

The two in one container can be half-filled with water for mopping, the second half of the tank is for dust the robot sucks up when working.

In mopping mode, the Xiaomi follows a Y-shape (two-way repeated wiping) or an S-pattern path depending on which one you set. The Y-pattern mode helps to provide better mopping performance since the robot doesn't just drag the mop but returns to the same spot twice for better results.

The Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM follows an efficient Y-shape path in mopping mode
The Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM follows an efficient Y-shape path in mopping mode

There is not much information about the model. The manufacturer says it has three level water settings, which means you can set the level of water dripping depending on your needs. Unfortunately, we are not sure, either you can change the settings in the app or directly on the water tank.

There are two types of mopping pads in the box included: wet mop and a half wet mop. Insert the 2-in-1 water container, attach the mop stand with a pad you need and let the robot work.

We should say, the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) is not suitable to remove stubborn stains, but it is a better solution than most hybrid models that just drag the pad. The robot is suitable for everyday mopping and will prolong the time between actual manual mopping sessions.

Mi Home & Smart Features

The Mi Home app has many options such as tracking the robot in real-time, manually control its movements, switch between cleaning modes and water level, track when the accessories need to be replaced, etc.

The smartest features would be zoned cleaning, restricted areas, and room cleaning.

First, that comes to my mind when I see the app is bad English localization. Some features are named weirdly and it takes a few seconds to understand what is the feature for. Mostly it is okay tho.

You can see cleaning history, set scheduling which we talk more about lately, set do not disturb mode so the robot will be quiet during these hours, turn on/off voice. You can also adjust volume, turn on map saving («Remember map»), reset map.

There is a «Vacuum along the edges» mode which makes the robot go along the edges and «secondary cleanup». With this option, the Xiaomi cleans the same area twice.

When the map is created, the robot automatically decides it into the rooms. You can manually merge or divide some areas if you are not satisfied with the results.

When setting cleaning options, you can choose from Vacuum, Vacuum & mop, and Mop, cleaning mode and also water level when the mopping attachments are on.

Target Point feature is handy when you want the robot to order to clean a particular spot by tapping on the map.

Scheduling

When setting the robot to work at a specific time, you can set cleaning time, when to repeat, scheduled mode (vacuum, vacuum & mop, mop only), choose suction power, and where the machine should clean (whole house or a particular room).

You can’t customize the water level when setting the robot to work at a specific time which you can do with the Roborock S5 Max.

If you want the robot to not go to certain places, you can set blocked zones, and the robot won't cross them. Useful if you need to prevent carpets from getting wet when the robot is mopping, or some areas might be cluttered, etc.

Zoned cleaning is great for spot cleaning. If you have high-traffic areas or places that are dirtier than others, you can make the robot work there by drawing a rectangle on the created map.

Make the Xiaomi work directly in the kitchen by using the room cleaning feature

Room cleaning is our favorite feature. Since you can divide the map into separated rooms, the robot can be ordered to go to the kitchen or living room if needed. If you don't need to clean some rooms such as a guest room, you can either use blocked areas or simply choose other rooms to clean.

You can either schedule the robot to work in particular rooms or order it work there right away.

The robot supports multimappig. You can set a map as your main floor.

Battery life

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) has a smaller battery size of 3,200 mAh than its brothers Mi Robot and MiJia 1S which have 5,200 mAh.

The robot is ideal for big homes

Predictable, the newest Vacuum Mop P lasts less, up to 110 minutes other than 150 minutes the siblings do.

Since the Xiaomi resumes cleaning in case it does not finish the job before the battery dies, the robot is suitable for big homes. When the battery runs lower than 20%, it returns to the dock, recharges up to 80% and finishes cleaning from the same spot it left off.

You can see cleaning details and history in the app too.

Suction Power

The newest model has the strongest suction among the Xiaomi cleaners delivering 2,100 Pa of suction. The older models have 1,800 (Mi Robot) and 2,000 Pa (MiJia 1S).

Stronger suction helps a lot when you need deeper cleaning on carpet.

Climbing Ability

Crossing ability seems to be increased too. From 0.59 / 15 mm (Mi Robot) to 0.79 in / 20 mm (Mijia STYJ02YM).

It matters if you have taller thresholds or thicker carpets. The Mi Robot has issues with thick carpets, the newest model promised to be better at this.

Filtration System

Since there's not much information, we are not sure if the robot is equipped with a filter that can be washed with water. However, we know that the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) is equipped with a HEPA filter and is safe for everyone who suffers from an allergy or asthma.

Performance on carpet

When testing the Xiaomi on a medium-pile carpet, we figured that it was able to pick up about 88% of debris (we used 100 grams of some oats, rice, beans, and quinoa) which is about an average result for such test. I believe it might be due to the cleaning brush that does not have as many bristles as the latest Roborock models do so it can’t provide a good pickup. But the robot works just fine on a low-pile carpet.

Dustbin inserted
Under the lid

One of the things I pay attention to is the cleaning brush. Since I have long hair, I need a brush that would be easy to clean especially to get rid of hair that normally gets stuck on the edges. The Xiaomi’s brush is solid which means you have to spend more time getting hair untangled.

Cleaning brush
Cleaning brush

The Xiaomi does not automatically boost suction on carpets which means if you want it to clean better, better run it on Max power settings.

I would not recommend getting the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) if you have medium-pile carpets or if you don’t have a traditional vacuum to clean them from time to time.

Tho the robot does a good job on low-pile carpets and hard floors.

The Mop P compared to the Mijia 1C

Price & Where to buy

To sum up

Let’s conclude: we have a ~$400 robot vacuum with strong suction, a good climbing ability that can do mopping and sweeping.

In terms of mopping, this model does a great job. With the Y-shape, it is able to get rid of fresh stains and overall does a great job on hard floors.

I would not suggest buying this robot for those who have medium-pile carpets and pets. It will simply not be able to pick up pet hair and collect dust hidden away in the carpet. But it is a nice robot vacuum for hard flooring and low-pile carpets.

All in all, this is not my most favorite robot vacuum but it can be a good choice for those who want good mopping ability and don’t have thick carpets.

hello there
i m interesting in ( Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM))
my question is how about the downstairs?d i put any barrier for the robot to stop?

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 6 months ago #

Hi there, I am not sure I understand what you mean. The international version supports saving more than one map so it can be used downstairs too. Or are you asking about stairs? The Xiaomi has cliff sensors that prevent it from falling off so it's safe for using in homes with stairs

Hello,

Two days ago I bought the Xiaomi Mop-P. I live in a 180m2 apartment and the vacuum doesn't want to create a map. Every time I use it, I try to finish the path that it followed earlier but on the Mi App I keep having the error message "Please complete the cleaning task first and make sure remember map is enabled" and the mapping resets. The vacuum starts everything from scratch and ignores several rooms. What can I do. It is getting really really frustrating! I'm on the verge of regretting this purchase. Thank you in advance.

Hi there, make sure your robot stays not far from the router. In this case, it may lose connection.

foxy ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Hi Anti,

Does the water leaking problem still exist in the newer models? Can you check yours please.

Aga ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Hi,
can you please advise how can I change the mopping pattern from Y to S?
Can't see this option in the app and the firmware is up to date.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Natalie, the vacuum cannot find its way back to the dock after finishing a cleaning job. It just starts roaming around and bumping against the nearest wall. I have tried everything, from reinstalling the app, moving the dock to a different position, resetting the unit to factory settings, but nothing works. It goes to an area for clean-up but becomes blind after the job was finished. I have asked for 4 replacement units and they are all performing the same. I could not find any similar cases on the internet - do you have any ideas? Thanks for your great reviews!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi Petro. Does the robot start from the dock? Do you move it manually as it works? Maybe you move it to a different location in the middle of the cycle? Maybe there is a step the robot cannot cross and you help it manually? Should be something that does not let the robot return to the dock especially if it is your fourth replacement.

Petro Kotze ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi Natalie! Thanks for your reply. The answer is no, I don't interfere at all, it starts from the dock, go to wherever it is sent, not being interrupted during the cycle, but once the job is completed just not returning to the dock, remaining in the same room, bumping into everything in its vicinity. (I am familiar with the mobile App because I also have a Xiaomi Vacuum Robot and have no issues operating it with the App.) I am now considering a different brand. Anything you want to recommend that can do more or the less the same as the Vacuum Mop Pro?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Do you see the charging dock icon on the map? This is strange. I know gyroscope-guided robots having such issues but not a Lidar-guided one. Maybe try to change the dock location one more time?
As to your question: the 360 S7 is in the same price range. It is better on carpets but is not as good as a mop. I would recommend getting a Roborock but it would cost you more.

Petro Kotze ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Yes, the charging dock is clearly visible on the map. At one point I was thinking my house is haunted because this does not seem to be a general problem. I do however see that people complain about the Xiaomi mobile app. As for the 360 S7 - I have a new question: what are the differences between 360 S7 and S7 Pro? And do they use the same accessories (brush, filters, etc.)?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

As to the difference... After searching online I haven't found lots of changing between the models. It seems like they found the way to make the robot more powerful without cutting down battery life. And I am not sure whether the disposable wipes come in the box with the S7 Pro or you have to buy them separately. Other than that, I don't see the difference between the two except for the color of course.

Petro Kotze ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Thank you Natalie! I am so glad that I stumbled over this webpage while searching for a solution to my issues with the Xiaomi. I think I am going to buy the S7 Pro, the difference in price between the S7 and S7 Pro is very small locally (more or less the equivalent of $6.00) and the Roborock is not available in South Africa. Thank you so much for spending time on answering all my questions!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hope the 360 S7 Pro would not have any issues getting back to the dock :)

Adam Lynch ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hello does this vacuum work on dark carpets or will it think it is falling like most others
Thankyou?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Adam, I'm afraid it will think it's a drop off like most others. I don't have black carpets to check this out but I believe it does not work on one.

Benjamin ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

I've been reading through your reviews and I've narrowed it down to 4 models but I've been bouncing back and forth between each one.

1) Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM)
2) Roborock S5
3) Viomi V2 Pro
4) Xiaomi Mijia 1C

Which one would you recommend?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Benjamin,

It depends on your needs and cleaning surface. Also the size of your house.
I would either recommend going for the Roborock S5 or Xiaomi MiJia 1C. The Roborock lasts longer while the MiJia is cheaper yet cleans well.

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) and Viomi V2 Pro is basically the same machine.

Benjamin ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

I live in a medium size appartment with mostly wood floors, but I would be open to get something a bit overkill for the appartment because I'm planning to move out next year and would prefer not having to switch up for another robot because one doesn't handle carpet well or can't clean a larger appartment.

I've been also looking at the S5 max cause the regular S5 is getting rarer since the new model came out. I'm not sure it's worth the extra price though.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Well, for me, the S5 Max is still one of the favorites. In this case, have a look at the MiJia 1C if you are sure the battery life would be enough to cover your home. I had to run mine on the lowest settings to get the job done on one charge. My place is rather to the smaller size. But it has resumption so if you are okay to wait until it recharges, the 1C is a good option.

But if you want neat navigation and good cleaning performance on top with some extra features, the S5 Max is a great deal.

thanks natalie i just got my xiaomi styj02ym after reading your article . 1 basic question . can i rinse the dustbin ? .thanks

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hey, Daniel. Sure, you can wash it with water if you want to. Do not forget to do so without a filter as you'll need time for it to get dry.
I do mine very occasionally tho but I do empty it after every cleaning.

daniel ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

ok thx natalie.i just did right after i read your answer thx

bva91 ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi!

The Xiaomi Styj02ym has just launched in my country for $239.

Im trying to decide between this and the Conga 4090 which costs $500.
I am not sure the conga offers enough for its steep price, what would you recommend?

Also how much sq ft can the Styj02ym cover in a single charge if its on Y shape mopping mode?

and normally how much sq ft does it cover in a single charge?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I know nothing about the Conga so I don't know which one would be better.
I also haven't tested the Xiaomi on mopping mode so I can't be sure how much it can cover in mopping mode. Normally when mopping my 70 sq m place (about 53 sq m of a cleaning area), I run it on high water output, there is like 1/4 of water left in the tank.

In sweeping mode, it covers about 1 square meter per minute (on a created map).

pericles ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hello, Could you tell me if there was already a solution to the leakage of water from the water tank?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hey there. You can try to follow this guide.

John Mcclane ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

STYJ02YM is same hardware as Viomi v2 Pro. Does anyone know if STYJ02YM can be upgraded with Viomi 2 Pro Firmware for English voice and other features?

xkcd0137 ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

I am from India and Roborock is not available here. I don't have any carpets so only hard-floor cleaning is important. I have 4 options -

1) Mijia STYJ02YM
2) ILife V5s Pro
3) Eufy Robovac 11s
4) Ecovacs Deebot 500

Kindly recommed which one to go for?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi there.
Among those four I would either go with the MiJia STYJ02YM or Eufy 11S. The MiJia would be good for a bigger space since it's more efficient because of mapping while the Eufy bounces around and can miss some areas.
The Eufy has a great customer support and overall is a good value for the price. If you don't have carpets, the 11S would be great at any means.
The MiJia is a robot that remembers your floor plan and also has mopping and hands down, because of the Y-shaped path, it does a great job at mopping. If you want those extra features such as an ability to send the robot to a particular room, set no-go zones and where it should clean and what is more important if you need mopping, go with the Xiaomi.
But if you are not willing to spend more and you don't need mopping and overall be okay with random navigation, the Eufy 11S is a great robot vacuum to buy.

Does that help?

xkcd0137 ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thank you for the reply, Natalie. I am getting Eufy 11s for $200 and Mijia STYJ02YM for $240, to put things in perspective. Obviously, Mijia has the advanced features but the main purpose is vacuuming. I'll prefer going for the one with better performance instead of features.

Another bummer is that Mijia will ship only in September whereas Eufy can be had as soon as lockdown is lifted here in India.

There is another product by Eufy - Eufy Robovac R500. Any idea about that?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Oh wow, that's a good price for the Xiaomi! I haven't heard about the RoboVac R500, I believe it is a model made for some markets (I can't find this particular model on the official website).
So far I can see that this model looks similar to the 11S but has stronger suction so if you get the R500 you won't go wrong. Both don't have Wi-Fi, share the same dustbin size, height, etc. Seems like the difference is in suction power and design only so it's up to you...

Dagmar ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi! Is it possible to replace the battery (3200mah) by 5200mah battery?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi there, unfortunately, I don't know if you can do so.

Gavin ⋅ 4 years, 1 month ago #

Having used this for a month, I'll give my review of things if anyone is interested.
It's a bit long winded so feel free to just look at the pros/cons if you don't want to read a wall of text.

I'm coming from the 1st gen Xiaomi/Roborock vacuum which I got when it first came out, so that's where the bar as been set with regards my expectations.

Vacuum:

Pros:
Suction is great and does a very good job of cleaning on both tiles and carpet - although, so did the 1st gen but without as good of a suction rating.
Mopping is surprisingly good and, with a bit of floor detergent in the tank, leaves my tiles clean and shiny.

Cons:
Pathing is ok but it's ability to detect obstacles is very questionable as it bumps into a lot of things the 1st gen didn't (ie. doesn't see/register an obstacle and bumps it constantly or gets stuck).

Details:
I've a pedestal fan where is base is low to the ground and the vacuum doesn't appear to be able to see it so it bumps into it constantly, moving the fan around the floor. In one case, the vacuum pushed a fan over toward a table and, as the fan was set to osscilate, it swept an ornament off a table and smashed it on the floor.

It also struggles with my kitchen chairs, which the 1st gen didn't. It's narrow enough to squeeze through the legs and some days it does and some days it manages to get wedged.

Raised surfaces is also a bit of an issue for me.
They've raised the vacuum up a little since the original model which means it can't get under the things that the original one could, which is a nightmare for me as my couch is now a problem whereas it wasn't before.
They've also given it some form of make-shift suspension which I imagine they thought would allow it go up or under certain things.

But, I believe there's a bit of a design flaw - maybe poor wheel placement (the closer the wheels are to the centre of the vacuum, the worse this effect is) because when it drives up onto my rug, the front tilts upwards to drive up onto it but that causes the rear to tilt downwards and touch off the floor in a dragging motion, so the vacuum sometimes gets stuck trying to do a wheelie! :) Again, didn't happen to the original gen model.

It does the reverse of this in another one of my rooms where it doesn't look like it can detect my black glass tv cabinet which is low to the ground.
It's almost low enough to go under it, so it drives into the unit and manages to get the front of the vacuum in under the TV unit and the front dips down and the back sticks up in the air and it forcefully wedges itself under it until it shuts off and I have to pry it out when it gets stuck.
May be just an inability to detect black glass as it might be reflective or something - so this may be unavoidable.

One other minor design flaw is with the water tank/dustbin.
When you fill it with water and close over the lid, you would think prevent any water getting out.
But, there are 2 dripper holes under the tank which allow it to drip water onto the mop when it's fitted.
These both drip water constantly unless you flip the tank upside down up until the point you insert the tank into the vacuum - I noticed this after finding a trail of dripped water from my kitchen sink to the vacuum the first time around!
Bit awkward but easily enough worked around.

APP:

Pros:
Has lots and lots of potential and some nice features, although the 1st gen has the majority of these same features nowadays with the updated firmware and app.
The "restricted areas" is a good idea and may be very useful to some people that want to section off an area in a room to avoid.
Has the ability to manipulate the map so you can name particular rooms and divide/merge rooms and set virtual walls etc.

Cons:
If you want the whole house mapped out, you need to let it do a full, continuous, run at least once across the whole house.

Randomly drops off of the wifi and becomes unreachable via the app at least 1-2 times per month.

Details:
The app looks like you can select a particular room and hit a specific option for it to turn out and drive out to the selected room and clean that room.
Unfortunately, in practice, this just turns on the vacuum and it cleans the whole house as normal.

There is a lot of messing about with maps.
If you turn on the vacuum and let it clean your house, but it notices any differences or something has moved, it will prompt you to either update your map or replace it - this is very annoying.
If it bumps into a child or dog's toy on the ground, or you move a chair a little bit, it will consider this a change and prompt you about the map as above.

I had almost my entire house mapped and one day I wanted to clean only the living area so all the other rooms were closed. When it finished cleaning the living area and returned to the dock, it asked me to update or create a new map - I tried update and it ended up updating my full map with just the living room....

I'd much prefer a cancel or "do nothing" option to just maintain the existing map and forget whatever it's trying to update.

Getting my entire house mapped was a pain.
If you do a full clean of your house and have one bedroom door closed, you have no way of adding that room into the map later on and you will need to redo a full clean of the house and let it go in and map that bedroom.
In my case, I wanted to add 1 room I missed so I let my vacuum start and it worked it's way into the new room early on in the clean and finished it - I stopped the vacuum and hoped this would just update the existing map with the new room added - it didn't. It just created a new map with the areas it cleaned up until the time I turned it off.
I've lost patience with this so I reverted to a previous map which had everything bar 1 room mapped and I carry it into the unmapped room each time and go through the annoying map update prompt the next time I open the app.

For me, when it comes to mopping, it's a bit time consuming as I have to open up the app, go into the options and select the restricted area option, draw a square around the rug to restrict it so it doesn't mop it and then set the vacuum to clean - that takes about 5 minutes including filling the tank and attaching the mop which is a bit of a nuisance.

Then, when I want to just vacuum, I have to do the above in reverse and remove the restricted area or it won't vacuum my rug.
If I could have 2 maps - one for mopping and one for vacuuming - that would be ideal.
There are some smarts in both the mop and the water tank attachments, so it already has the ability to detect when either are attached.
If it could automatically select your "mop map" once you've attached those, and select your "vacuum map" when they're removed, that would be an amazing quality of life improvement and I can't imagine would be very difficult to do.

Hoping in the future there will be some software improvements to the app and firmware updates for the vacuum's mapping that resolve some of the above issues as I genuinely like it and it has a lot of potential, but I think it's been let down by quite a few oversights.

There is also little or no information available online with regards a changelog/release notes for the current app/firmware and no indication of anything upcoming in the future.

In closing, if you had another variation of robot vacuum, I probably wouldn't recommend this vacuum today as it doesn't feel like the finished article yet.
I think it's too early in the firmware/software lifecycle and I would hope it will improve over time, like the 1st gen did.

Hello, I find your description very interesting. I am worried about what you have said that the water tank loses water. You could explain a little better so that I can understand you.
Thank you.

Gavin ⋅ 4 years, 1 month ago #

The water tank has 3 holes .... 1 at the top, with a rubber stopper, and 2 at the bottom that just constantly drip water - this is designed to drip water on the mop to keep it wet when it's mopping.

The issue is when you fill the tank at your sink, you have to walk to your vacuum and insert it which is where I get lots of droplets of water on the floor.

My workaround, turn the tank upside down as you move from sink to vacuum because the rubber stopper prevents water coming out of the top.

Is the 2 in 1 tank electric controlled or is it gravity?

Bruno Gonçalves ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

The Mi Home App takes MINUTES to load the robot + the map, is it the same for all of you? It’s very slow, my previous Xiaomi robot used to take 5seconds

Gracias

Hi! Can you tell me if it is possible to configure this device with USA server? Can it be voice controlled via the Google Home App? Thanks!

Tom ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Hello.

Could anyone who own a STYJ02YM could confirm that the water-tank from viomi v2 / viomi v2 pro fits to the xiaomi model?
I'm willing to buy that kind of tank but I can not find any dedicated water tank for the xiaomi model.

Best wishes and thanks for Your answers.

After a bit of search finally found the OEM. The OEM model is called as ZK-901. If you search for ZK-901 you will see the model is 2 in 1 vacuum cleaner with 'Y' type mopping :) such as this - https://www.ect.my/evatronic/evatronic-zk-901-robot-vacuum-with-water-tank-laser-scanning and many more. Orig app in android is called as "Laser guided robot vacuum cleaner" by DGZK.

Michael ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

I highly doubt that this is the OEM manufacturer. They have a creepy photoshopped brand name on the photos. In the product description, photos of three different robot vacuums from other brands. It looks more like a scam.

ragsandroid ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

I agree with Michael Fisher, I doubt Viomi V2/Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM is from same OEM, though features seem very similar.

However, from my searches (which were concentrated on Alfawise V10, after seeing this thread) I feel V10 could be re-branded ZK-901 from the pictures of the device and app snapshots (from GB sale page). But, it could very well be totally different (as from previous experience what we see in sales pictures + features they claim would differ a lot from realty).

robovacmop ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Any chance Alfawise V10 Max is another Viomi V2 or Mijia?

Alfawise had released LDS based V9s just few months and they already have a new entrant now.

Alfawise V10 Max is for pre-sale on gearbest for $260 with coupon $220.

https://www.gearbest.com/robot-vacuum/pp_009195968752.html

Any reviews or views on this?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

The V10 Max looks similar to the Viomi/MiJia but I have had a bad experience with Alfawise customer support before so I don't want to recommend their products.

ragsandroid ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Came across this thread while I was searching for Alfawise V10 Max, most other posts on the web (very less results as its a new vacuum) currently are for coupons or so called reviews + coupons (I doubt they have even seen this device, mostly they are read outs of the spec and sharing the GB coupon).

I would be buying this (had shortlisted 360 S7 and Alfawise V10 Max, both new, mostly likely will get V10 due to budget) during GB thanksgiving sales, will share my views/reviews on this device (how it performs) and share if they have all features supported which they claim here www.gearbest.com/robot-vacuum/pp_009195968752.html Also if their customer support is good + GB helps sorting out any issues with devices, as GB is exclusive store for Alfawise.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

When I had an Alfawise upright vacuum, its battery stopped working after a few weeks (10 cleaning jobs max).

Nothing against Alfawise just saying...

ragsandroid ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Woah! this is bad.

As a reviewer may be nothing against Alfawise, but ya would not be able to recommend their products to anyone. As a consumer, that is ~$260-$280 down the drain. It is surprising Gearbest being the exclusive seller of Alfawise products either of them did NOT give a damn. This experience of yours is making me re-think.

Thanks!

ragsandroid ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Finally found the OEM for Alfawise V10 Max. The manufacturers name is "DONGGUAN ZHIKE INTELLIGENT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD" and their website - http://www.yhrobot.com/en/

OEM model is called as ZK901 as I mentioned it earlier, and Alfawise is renaming it as V10 Max, however there are some retail brands who are keeping ZK-901 as is, like Liectroux ZK-901 and more.

http://www.yhrobot.com/en/Item/list.asp?id=1729

This might be one of the cheapest Laser based Robot vacuums. I did not buy Alfamax V10 Max (and instead bought ABIR X6 during BF sales, hope it was not a bad decision, yet to receive the product) as I did not want to buy Alfawise from GB after reading Natalie's experience, will revisit this during 2020 11.11/BF sales, by that time we will have enough reviews of this model as well.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Would love to hear your experience of this model, how well it performs, etc. Especially I would love to know about its mapping capabilities.

ragsandroid ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Sure, I should receive ABIR X6 between Wednesday and Saturday, will share my experience with X6.

During BF sales there were 3 Robo Vacs that I had shortlisted which were < $200 (Between $170 - $190). Neatsvor X500, Liectroux C30B and ABIR X6 (and Alfawise V10 Max, but dropped it even though it was my first preference). Of the 3 ABIR X6 had additional functionality of virtual lines (Max 4) and Clean Zone (where we can select zone to be cleaned), that is why ended up going with ABIR X6 (not because of camera, I doubt camera does anything ;-p). Also, from my searches and looks of X6, I felt its nothing but Trifo IronPie M6+ (from same OEM and customized to look different and features/firmware probably)

I found this video interesting as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmD1CAkYMwg Probably ABIR/OEM teams testing video.

Hola a todos. Tengo en mi casa el viomi v2. No el v2 pro. Pregunta.

to conclude my comments I want to show you the real time to install the mop on Mijia and Viomi. In some videos it seems more difficult ... but it's faster than Roborock.

Which are the difference between Viomi V2 Pro and Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM?
They have the almost the same characteristics?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

As I mentioned in the comment section earlier, these are different companies even though Xiaomi is related to the Viomi's robots, customer support, firmware and software is different. This may cause issues with updates and customer help if you need to get one.

As for the product itself, they are very similar yet a bit different anyway:

1. No multifloor map support. The Xiaomi stores one map only while the Viomi stores up to three maps. Useful for those who live in a multi-floor house or want to save a few maps with different no-go zones, for example, to keep the robot of carpets in mopping mode.
2. Not washable filter in the Xiaomi. I am not sure about this one, I only know the Viomi's filter can be washed with water, I have not tested the Xiaomi myself so I don't know about the type of filter inside. A washable filter meant to last longer.
3. Two vs. three containers in the box. The Viomi comes with three containers in the package: water tank, dustbox and 2-in-1 container for water and dust if you want it to vacuum and mop at once. The Xiaomi has two containers in the box: dustbox and 2-in-1 container. If you have a big area to mop, you'll need to refill the Xiaomi's container a few times during mopping.
4. Accessories. The Xiaomi spare accessories are widely sold, so far I don't know where you can find additional tools to the Viomi V2/V2 Pro.

It might be a bit confusing for many people to see the difference between the two which is understandable. Anyway, hope that helps you to understand the difference between the two.

Feel free to comment if you have questions :)

Spar ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Do both robot vaccum cleaners use the same accessories?
All accessories they look the same (filter, watertank, dustbox, 2-in-1 container), exept from the brush and the roller have different colour .

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

In my opinion the most important thing is to explain the difference between Viomi V2 and Viomi V2 Pro. Can you show me images of the menu to eliminate any doubt on the multi map?

Spar ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

The Pro version can sweep and mop in the same time.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

You mean multi-map of the Viomi V2 Pro? I've seen it on Gearbest, it says the Viomi Pro supports multi-floor management on the screenshot. And also, the geekmaxi website claims the same: "Additionally, it can store several floors map to improve cleaning efficiency." Now I am not sure about the multimap support. Does it or does not store more than one map?

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

.........

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

The Internet is full of sites selling accessories for Viomi ...

Spar ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

The accessories for Xiaomi are cheaper from Viomi. So, if Viomi's robot vacuumm cleaners use the same accessories, you can use Xiaomi's accessories.

John Blue ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Natalie, let me correct you. The Xiaomi STYJ02YM does have multi map support. I have the unit and it allows me to define rooms. The funny thing is both the V2 and STYJ02YM both use the same device profiles

John

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Hello, John.
Does it have multi-floor or it allows define rooms? These are two different features. I do know you can separate rooms with the Xiaomi, but I still have no proofs of it supporting multi-floor so I am kind of confused here.

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

I especially criticize the responses to comments. The article should be updated, as this product is now becoming popular! Did you know that Xiaomi had commissioned Viomi to build a new Robot? Just read.
A tip: if you have STYJ02 you can make an exact, updated review, since from August the product has already received 2 new firmware, Viomi V2 and V2 Pro, just 1. People must be properly informed.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Thank you for pointing out my mistakes about the product. Our reader asks if the Viomi V2 Pro and Xiaomi have the same accessories. Can they be interchangeable (the filter, containers, and cleaning brush)?

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Yes, and some online stores explain it. I used the mixed can of Mija on Viomi recognized her; I installed the 550ml tank of Viomi on Mijia and the robot is set automatically in Mop mode. There are some differences, but they mainly concern graphics and programming: Viomi does not choose the area to be cleaned, Mijia yes; Viomi has a more limited main menu, more complete Mijia, for example you can check suction power and quantity of water on the same screen. Viomi speaks English, Mijia only Chinese for now. But the structure is practically identical.

Peter ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

hi, may i ask where you got the viomi v2 pro & mijia?, is there an international version for both of them?

when writing a review you must know the product. I own Viomi V2 and Mijia STYJ02YM. There are inaccuracies in this review.

Michael ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

So could you please tell us what inaccuracies did you find in this article?

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

do you want an example? the dustbin is identical, it only changes color. it is not true that they are not news, but the product must have it to write a review, so you will know that it has only one map, and more. Many accessories can be exchanged between Viomi and Mijia Sty. The mapping has become very similar and it is not true that there have been no updates for months, as is stated in the answers.

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

again, the main brush is identical.

Daniel ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

Can STYJ02YM save multiple maps?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

Unfortunately, there are no reviews of the new Xiaomi so I can't say for sure but the previous model (Xiaomi MiJia 1S) supports multi mapping so I figure, the new one save a few maps as well.

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

No, only 1 (for now...)

HGST ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

This is the exact same model as Viomi V2 just rebadged as Mijia

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

The Viomi V2 has a different color option, it is a black&mint and its accessories are made in the same color scheme. The Xiaomi is black/white&orange.
The Viomi has a filter that can be washed with water, the MiJia's filter is non-washable.
The Xiaomi stores up to three maps in memory, the Viomi saves one map only. (not completely sure about this but the previous MiJia version is capable of saving multiple maps, so I assumed the new one is too).
The Xiaomi is equipped with a two-in-one water tank in the box, and you can get a water tank separately, the Viomi has two containers: one is for dust, and the other one is for water. The two-in-one container also can be bought separately.
The Viomi's crossing ability is 20 mm (0.8 in) while the Xiaomi can do a 15 mm (0.6 in) obstacle. This makes the Viomi suitable for thicker carpets.
The Viomi's dust container holds 600 ml of debris, the MiJia's dustbin is 550 ml.

As you can see, they might have similar features, but in fact, 90% of the existed robot vacuums do, it does not make them the same. Each robot has advantages, and the Viomi vs. MiJia is no exception.

Chris ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

How do you get the Xiaomi to store more maps?
Can I just take it up to my second floor and use it there and it will remember the ground floor and second floor map separately?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

The robot creates a map when it starts from the charging dock and automatically gets back to the dock when finishing cleaning. If you place the dock on the first floor, the Xiaomi cleans and returns to the dock on its own, it will create one map. For the second floor map, place the dock manually upstairs, let the robot starts cleaning from it and finish cleaning by docking itself. Now you have two separates map and the robot will recognize its location when you place it upstairs or downstairs.

Peter ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

Michael ⋅ 4 years, 5 months ago #

Curiously, there are two other robot vacuums: Proscenic M7 and Conga 3690 Absolute. They look absolutely the same as the Viomi V2. Would be great to know who is the original OEM manufacturer of these products.

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Yes, the structure and many spare parts, even if Cecotec declares ... 2700Pa. The software and the mapping are different. I had Conga for a few days. It has 5 maps and all the possible functions, even the engine or water stop. The problem is the connection and the bad assistance.

Chris P ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Hi, I'm looking for buying one of these 3 models for next "11.11" sales: Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM, Viomi V2 PRO or Roborock S50.
Have a dog, live in a flat with 2 floors.
Which one is better? The "old" Roborock or the new 2 brothers Viomi and Mijia?
Will roborock continue to have new firmware releases in future (maybe multi floor maps)? Or is it better choosing a new model with new features even if maybe the app needs to improve?
Thank you

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Well, let's see. Please keep in mind, any of the Xiaomi or Viomi is not related to Roborock. Roborock is a separate company and has nothing in common with the Xiaomi or Viomi except for the Xiaomi Mi Robot which they produced with Xiaomi together. Why I am pointing this out? Roborock has great customer service and if you have any issues with the product, you can always contact them and get a response in no time which you can't do with the Viomi or Xiaomi.

The Roborock app (or the Mi Home app) gets regular updates which I can't say for sure the Viomi or Xiaomi will have. For example, we have the Viomi V2 and the app is still raw even though the product was released about 6 months ago.

As for the multi-floor maps update for the Roborock S5, I don't know for sure whether the vacuum will have it or not.
Do you have carpets? If you don't have thick carpets or tall thresholds, have a look at the Roborock S4. It has smart features of the S6, only can't cross any obstacle taller than 15 mm and lacks mopping. Also, if you live in a flat with 2 floors, I would recommend getting a robot with multi-floor map support but it's not necessary, just would be more convenient to use in such a household.

Also, if your dog sheds a lot and has long hair, consider getting a robot with a brush that has detachable tips, much easier to maintain, the Viomi's brush and the Roborock S5 brush is solid, not sure about the MiJia's roller.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Natalie

Chris P ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Hi Natalie,
Thank you very much for your answer. Now I' m more confused...Roborock was my third choice.
I have read that PRo version of Viomi V2 has a new and fixed app that solves all previous problems.
Regarding the brush, my dog has short hair but in my family we have long hair, so maybe roborock Is better. Also for price It Is cheaper.
But mopping Is surely worse and I'd prefer have a good mop and both Viomi and mijia mop with Y way, ahead and back.
So, It Is a really difficult choice.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

You can read a comment from Jamerica Merit under this video where she complains about the app of the Viomi V2. Honestly, I don't think they solve the previous problems on the Pro version. I am still very skeptical about the Viomi. When it first was released I recommended it since it seemed to have nice features, but it turned out to have many bugs too so who knows who knows...

The Roborock S5 has a solid brush too, the S4 and S6 are equipped with a brush with detachable tips.

I see what you mean about mopping. Go with the Xiaomi, it has the same pattern which is really great, it does work better at removing stains and overall my floors looked shiny after the Viomi had done its job. At least Xiaomi is a known brand and this is their fourth robot in the model line so I hope they all have better firmware.

Chris P ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

Thank you very much. Bye

AA ⋅ 4 years, 4 months ago #

the new firmware has fixed many bugs and now the map and the robot's movements are very similar to the Mijia STYJ02YM
