Summary

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about the Xiaomi Mijia 1C is its price. For around $240 you get a great robot vacuum that not only has a strong suction (maybe the strongest in the industry) but also is able to mop, has a pretty much purposeful navigation algorithm and slim body design. Do not expect good mopping results, it is the same as most 2-in-1 robots but mopping is still a nice feature to have. If you live in a big house, the 1C might not be suitable for you but for a small apartment, the robot is ideal. The Xiaomi MiJia 1C is good for those who want a decent robot vacuum without spending on it a lot. For the price, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C does not have competitors.

Xiaomi Mijia 1C is an affordable robot vacuum that has a lot of features that we have seen in much more expensive flagship robot vacuums, so I was really excited to review this device. The model currently presented on the market in two variations: STYTJ01ZHM - Chinese version (I've got this one) and SKV4093GL - International version with an English user manual and English robot’s voice. Also, the international version has a Mi logo when the Chinese version has a cat logo and is sold as the Mi Robot Vacuum Mop.

I don't know why, but Xiaomi uses a confusing naming strategy for their robot vacuums (check comparison of other Xiaomi robot vacuums). In the Mi Home app, the robot is named the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop, but this name seems a bit confusing since there are other robot vacuums from Xiaomi with an almost identical name. Considering this, I'll call it the Mijia 1C in this review because most of the sellers use this name.

The biggest advantage of this robot is its price on Aliexpress)  which is a very good deal considering the robot’s features. The new robot vacuum has only an 8.1 cm height body, which is the slimmest robot vacuum Xiaomi has ever made. Previously, we have seen Lidar-based models from Xiaomi, the Mi Robot, and Mijia 1S. The new Mijia 1C doesn't have Lidar on the top, so the device is pretty slim and can fit under most furniture where the predecessors can not go.

What is in the box

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C comes with a charging dock, mopping pad, cleaning tool, and user manual

Appearance and features of the Xiaomi Mijia 1C

We already get used to Xiaomi build quality, and this robot vacuum is not an exception, it is well-built and looks minimalist.

As you might notice, the 1C does not have a "tower" on top. There is no LDS laser as well. The robot is equipped with a visual sensor which makes it shorter and cheaper. Unlike other camera-guided robots, the Xiaomi 1C can be tracked in real-time via the app. It has a duo-gyroscope with a visual sensor that work together to create a map of your floor plan.

There are 15 types of sensors sit inside the body to help it navigate and create a map.

1C has a visual sensor that recognizes doors
On top, there is a TOF visual sensor and two buttons to operate the robot

More expensive robot vacuum cleaners use lidar that scans your house to build a map. However, the Xiaomi Mijia 1C uses other types of sensors for navigation: dual-gyroscope, TOF sensor (time-of-flight sensor) on the top of the robot, and LED motion tracking sensor underneath.
All the data received from these sensors is being processed with a powerful 4-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor inside the robot that uses VSLAM algorithms to create a map of your house and build the most efficient path for cleaning.

15 types of sensors all over the body

The robot easily crosses over my medium-pile carpet and door thresholds. It can climb a 2 cm (0.8 in) obstacle.

The Xiaomi Mijia 1C has a 600 ml dustbin, which is relatively big for a robot vacuum.

The dustbin is hidden under the lid
The dustbin is hidden under the lid
1C has a big dustbin
The dustbin holds up to 600 ml of debris

It has a side brush that along with the main roller brush sweep and collects dust transferring it right into the dustbin. It is also the most powerful Xiaomi robot that can deliver 2,500 Pa of suction. I don't have pets so I have not tested it with pet hair, but considering the strong suction power and large dustbin, this model should be a good choice for pet owners and is enough for the robot to be used on carpets.

The Xiaomi 1C has a washable HEPA filter, so you don't need to replace it as often as non-washable filters. Usually, I wash such a filter once per month. HEPA filtering standards makes this filter suitable for allergy and asthma sufferers.

Washable Hepa filter
Washable HEPA filter catches up to 99% of allergens in the air

The 1C has a small and minimalist charging dock. I'm a little bit disappointed tho that the dock doesn't have a place behind it where you can hind the cord and adjust its length but it is not a big deal, just something I used to see in other high-end models.

What mopping can do?

The Xiaomi Mijia 1C is a budget model that can sweep and mop at the same time. To use the mopping feature, you should attach the mopping pad underneath. I noticed that this model uses an improved water tank. Unlike water tanks that I have seen in other similar devices, this one has a small motor inside which works as a water pump, takes the necessary amount of water from the tank and supplies it on the mopping cloth.

Xiaomi 1C has a 200 ml water tank
Water tank (200 ml)

The water tank holds up to 200 ml of water. In the box, there is one extra mopping cloth. The mopping function is great for everyday cleaning, but the robot will not be able to handle a stubborn stain, so keep in mind that you need to mop your floors by hand from time to time. Basically, the Xiaomi Mijia 1C drags the mop around leaving hard floor wet but it will not replace manual mopping. Considering the price, this device is equipped with a relatively large water tank so the mopping feature is nice to have, it will definitely reduce the amount of time spent on manual mopping.

With the new update, you can control the water dripping level for different mopping tasks.

For how long the Xiaomi 1C works before recharging?

The manufacturer does not specify for how long the Xiaomi can work tho considering its 2,400 mAh battery and 2,500 Pa suction, it should not last too long on the maximum power setting. I tested it on max power mode, and it was able to clean ~40 minutes on one charge. In silent mode it would definitely last at least twice longer, however, I didn't test it yet did get to test that. On low power, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C lasts up to 113 minutes on one charge.

I would say this robot vacuum will be a good choice for small houses, or maybe for medium houses with some limitations.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C has resumption which means when the cleaner still needs some work to be done, the robot docks itself, recharges, and gets back to resume cleaning from the spot it left off.

How loud is the Xiaomi 1C?

The Xiaomi 1C is not the quietest device but let's not forget that it has one of the strongest suction in the industry. It produces about 50 dB of noise on low suction settings (silent mode) and around 65 dB on its max settings (turbo mode). Not too loud but you will notice it on turbo mode if it is working in the same room. However, it will not bother you at all in silent mode.

App features

With the latest update, the MiJia 1C supports virtual boundaries and zoned cleaning

Many users ask if they can operate the robot without wi-fi. In short: yes, you can. You can see the map of your house in the app and watch how it cleans your place in real-time. There are buttons in the app to start and stop the robot, also send it to the charging dock. But if you do not use the app, you will not see cleaning history and a created map, also no real-time tracking, not be able to set virtual walls and zoned cleaning. You will miss a lot of features but overall the robot is still usable if you do not have a phone.

I got a Chinese version of the robot from Gearbest, and it has a Chinese user guide. Nevertheless, the Mi Home app has an English localization, and I was able to choose an English voice for the robot after updating the firmware.

I have no idea if there will be an international version of this device in the near future, but the Chinese version has one downside: to pair the robot vacuum with the Mi Home app, you will need to choose the China mainland region with the newest update you can choose your region to make it work. It may be not a problem at all if you don't have any other devices connected to the Mi Home app, but in my case, I have an air purifier and other robot vacuums connected with the app in the European region, so they become unavailable when I switched the app region to China.

The latest update brings new cool features such as virtual boundaries and zoned cleaning. To get them, you have to switch the region to the Chinese mainland (again) and turn on the «Map saving mode», let the robot run so it creates a map, and then you are able to set boundaries or zoned cleaning. Actually, it is recommended to run the robot a few times before the 1C can save an accurate map. Keep in mind, the virtual walls and zoned cleaning is still in beta and might not work as accurately.

In my case, the robot has created a map with one cleaning cycle and I was able to test the new features right after that.

The latest update allows the Xiaomi MiJia 1C to work in a particular room

Feb 2021: I received the new update that now allows the robot to break the map into separate rooms. You can see the robot’s route as well.

You still can not schedule the robot to work in specific rooms but you can order it to clean those rooms instead of the whole house.

When I tested the new feature, the robot couldn’t recognize its charging dock location as I have moved it from one room to another.

The charging dock location is in the “dining room” but the actual location was the living room.

The same reason didn’t allow me to test room cleaning as the robot wouldn’t understand where it is. After cleaning the whole place its route mismatched the previous map and I saw this:

As you can see the robot has built a new map that is accurate but it didn’t match the previously saved map.

Gladly you can fix it by simply tapping the “update map” feature. One moment and the map looks fine:

As you can see, the charging dock location is back to normal as well as the route and map being matched.

Virtual walls & Zoned cleaning

The same as with a Roborock, the MiJia 1C allows setting a virtual tape and draw a rectangle depending on the shape of your room. I was impressed by the ability to see the Xiaomi cleaning in real-time after the map was saved. The virtual boundaries work accurately considering the robot does not have an LDS sensor that normally builds a more precise map. I also hope this feature will be improved in time.

Virtual boundaries can be set with zoned cleaning if needed, you can also track the robot in real-time. Zoned cleaning is limited by one zone only but it might change with the next updates.

The virtual walls menu after the update
The virtual walls menu after the update

As you can see, now you can also name the room by choosing among the existing options as well as creating your own custom name. The virtual walls are not limited by one as well, you can set as many as you want. As to zoned cleaning, it’s still limited by one.

So far I’m impressed.

In the app, you can see when the filter, side brush, and roller brush should be replaced or cleaned.

Also, you can switch between 4 suction power settings, and manually control the robot like a radio car if needed. I do not use the manual mode, but someone might find it useful.

Scheduling is pretty much basic. It does not allow setting the robot to work in a particular room or make it work in a certain zone. You only get a full-home cleaning option where you can set time and suction mode. And that is pretty much it.

Another cool feature is setting water level dripping. There are three for different mopping tasks. I have not seen a budget robot with an electric water tank before.

Mapping & Navigation

As I said before, the robot is not laser-guided and is not able to create the same high-precise map as laser-based robot vacuums.

I noticed that the Mijia 1C creates quite an accurate layout of your house. The created map is not as accurate as created by the Lidar-based robot vacuum, but still, you can recognize all your rooms and house layout. One of the things I wish the robot had, is the ability to track its cleaning path as some Lidar-guided robots offer with the latest update, you can track the robot’s path in real-time.

Another downside is that you can track it in real-time but nothing more. No zoned cleaning, no-go zones, nor room cleaning. Still better than randomly-moving robots or robot vacuums with gyroscope mapping. Also, there is no option to save the created map, so it will be erased and rebuilt from scratch the next time you start the robot. With the latest update, the robot allows setting one zoned cleaning and no-go zones too. The map can be saved after a few cleaning cycles.

There is a chance that Xiaomi will release a firmware update with no-go zones and zoned cleaning in the future, but we don't know it for sure.

Cleaning

When you get a ~$240 robot you do not expect it to be very good at cleaning and I was also skeptical at first. I thought the robot was going to be loud and not as good at cleaning carpets as other models I previously tested. This is when I am glad to be wrong.

The 1C is not as loud as the Roborock S5 and overall is not as loud as you might think it is. I tried to run it on Max mode and also on Silent mode and it wasn't too noticeable on both.

The Xiaomi Mijia 1C does not have carpet boost so if you have carpets, I would suggest running it on high suction settings for the best performance. According to Xiaomi, the 1C has 2,500 Pa of suction power, which is the highest number I've seen so far. Most of the flagship robot vacuums available on the market today, have approximately 2,000 Pa of suction. Even though we can't verify if these numbers are correct, this robot vacuum cleans my middle-pile carpet very well, especially considering the price of the device.

Because of 20 mm (0.8 in) climbing ability, the 1C is suitable for thicker carpets while its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi Robot, can only climb onto a 15 mm (0.6 in) carpet.

Based on my personal experience the MiJia 1C lasts up to 113 minutes on low power settings and 40 minutes in high mode making it suitable for average homes. If your home is bigger, the Xiaomi will return to the dock, recharges itself and then resumes cleaning after charging the battery up.

One thing I don't like is the roller cleaning brush. It is the same the Roborock S5 uses, fewer bristles than the one inside the Roborock S6 and also does not have detachable side tips which make it harder to clean from tangled hair.

Cleaning brushes
The roller cleaning brush with a cleaning tool

If you have long hair, be prepared to spend some time removing the hair of the edges and this is why I love the latest Roborock S6 and S5 Max vacuums that much. Not too bad though but you should know about it. After running it the first time, even though the floors were cleaned a day before, the Mijia 1C got some hair tangled around the brush and I had to use a special cleaning tool that comes in the box to remove that hair.

Overall the cleaning performance is great for the price. The robot is good on carpet, it removes debris and hair, suitable for pet owners but has a short battery life, which is expected to the suction it has and a relatively small battery.

How is it compared to the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P?

Price & Where to buy

To buy or not to buy?

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about the Xiaomi Mijia 1C is its price. For the price, you get a great robot vacuum that not only has a strong suction (maybe the strongest in the industry) but also is able to mop, has a pretty much purposeful navigation algorithm, and slim body design.

Do not expect good mopping results, it is the same most 2-in-1 robots have but still a nice feature to have.

The main disadvantage for me is that I needed to change the region to China in the app settings to make it work. This is not a problem anymore, the app received an update and now I can choose any region and connect the robot without any problems.

If you live in a big house, the 1C might not be suitable for you. But overall it is good for those who suffer from allergies, have pets, and live in a rather small and average apartment. For the price of $293.99, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C does not have competitors.

I must say, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C has surprised me and keeps doing so with the updates and new features that you will not find in any $200 device. Firstly, it is the first robot (budget robot) with an optical sensor that has virtual boundaries and zoned cleaning. It also has one of the strongest suction and good mopping performance. If I compare it with the robots that are more expensive, I will not find too much of a difference in cleaning performance and can say the same about smart features. The robot might bump into furniture a bit more than those high-end models but at the same time, it navigates much better than most robots that are not in a premium price segment such as the Roborock, Roomba, or ECOVACS.

Since I’ve got it, the robot received a few updates with no-go zones, zoned cleaning, map saving, now even room cleaning is available.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C is 100% a great buy.

Frequently Asked Question

  1. Can I use it in my two-floor house?

The robot saves one map only. If you place it upstairs manually, it will start building a new map.

  1. Can I control it like RC toys?

Yes, the app has a "Joystick" function.

  1. I have a fairly big area of the tile floor. Can the 1C cover it all or do I have to look for a different robot?

In my experience, the robot consumes less water than other robots I have tested. It mops a fairly big area and still has the tank half full after finishing the job. You can set it on a minimum water flow level too.

  1. Will it alert when the dustbin is full or the water tank is empty?

No, the 1C does not alert when the bin is full neither when the tank is empty.

  1. Can I select which room to clean?

No, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C does not have this option. Yes, with the newest update, you can select the room to clean.

  1. Can I vacuum and mop at the same time?

Yes, the robot can do both at the same time.

  1. My place is rather big than average but with no carpets. Would it be suitable in my scenario?

I do not recommend this robot for big spaces. Better to use in small apartments or studios. It might not get the job done on one charge and you have to wait for a few hours until it recharges before finishing the cleaning.

  1. I ran my robot 5 times and the map is still not complete, why?

To make the robot create a map, it has to start and stop cleaning from the base without manually interrupting it during the cleaning cycle. Since this robot is not Lidar-guided it needs a few attempts before completing the map. Run it under different light conditions a few times and the map will be complete.

  1. Can I send it to the kitchen to remove the mess I made?

Yes, you can set zoned cleaning where you want the robot to clean or send the robot to clean the kitchen by tapping on one in the app.

  1. How to turn on Spot Cleaning without the app?

To start Spot Cleaning press and hold the Dock button for ~5 seconds.

  1. How to save the map in the app?

Find the «Map saving mode» menu and switch it on.

  1. Can I use the robot without WiFi?

Yes, you can use the robot without WiFi but you will not have access to scheduling, no-go zones, zoned cleaning, or map history. All you could do is to start, stop, and do the spot cleaning.

  1. Do I need to keep the mopping pad installed on the unit if I am not planning to use the mopping function?

It is better to remove the mopping attachments completely when you do not use the mopping function. The wet mop cloth may damage your floors if you leave it on and the installed water tank reduces the climbing ability.

  1. Does it recognize carpets when in mopping mode?

No, the robot does not recognize carpets when it mops. To keep it away from carpets, you can set a virtual wall in that area and the robot will not cross it.

  1. How to disable the mopping function properly?

To disable the mopping function, simply remove the mopping attachments. You can keep the water tank on with no water inside but it will reduce the climbing ability so the robot will not do as good on carpets. The best way would be removing the tank completely.

There is new 4.3.3_1122 firmware available

My robot's mopping function disappeared. From the app, the water level selection completely disappeared. Even when I attach the mop, no water is being pumped (I assume because the app doesn't sense it??)

I updated my firmware to 4.1.8_1118, hoping it will fix itself, but still no luck. Would anyone know how to fix this?

Michael ⋅ 2 years, 7 months ago #

I think it can't detect that the mopping pad is attached. Not sure about the 1C, but other robots have a small magnet inside the water tank so the robot can recognize when it is attached. I would check the mopping pad and maybe clean two electric contacts on the pad.

Gerrie ⋅ 2 years, 7 months ago #

Hi. Try to run your vacuum as normal with the tank connected and then check the app. Mine also disappeared after I updated the app (not firmware). The moping function return for me but only when the unit is busy mopping.

With the latest updates, you can restrict certain areas from being mopped. This is a great feature to prevent mopping of rugs etc. I wish they will introduce scheduled cleaning of certain rooms/ areas.

as of Aug 8 2021, my vac/mp Miajia 1c became ... mostly non-responsive. It was working fine since I bought it a year ago, I've really come to depend on it. But now, the power/home buttons do not respond. I tried a huge variety of things - turn on/off, hard reset, uninstall/reinstall the app, change my wifi to WPA2.

Before I uninstalled the app, the device was recognized but the data wouldn't load or, sometimes, the data would load adn said the device was in "standby" with 0's for the "cleaning time / area cleaned/ battery life" at the top. Which of course is concerning - but it is parked on it's dock as usual, and the Power button is lit up white. When I did a hard reset, the voice (i have it set to french) would say, "Activation" - then, after a moment, the wifi button would be solid blue, and the start button solid white. And it would not respond to anything i press or do, except when i turn it off.

Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and now the vacuum repeat the same process I just described, every time. but the app can never 'find' the device when I scan for it. It's clearly not out of battery but I dont know what the issue is

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 8 months ago #

Hi Melanie, unfortunately, I have no idea why the device has stopped responding.... Have you tried to connect it to a different device?

Hi,
I bought the mijia 1c. At first it was ok but after 2 weeks I noticed problem with the mopping function. Little or no water detected on the floor. After every mopping the water level in the tank is the same or drop a little. At the beginning the water tank was almost half empty after mopping. I couldn’t figure out what’s wrong. The app is able to detect it is mopping and since sometimes the water level drop a tiny bit, I reckon there’s no connectivity issue. I tried switching water level to high but didn’t help. Any advice how to fix this?
Thanks

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Kelsey, there is an issue with those kinds of water tanks. When filling the tank, the water might get on the rubber cover which leads to a vacuum inside the tank. This doesn't let water out when the robot mops.

To avoid this make sure the rubber cover stays dry when the tank is being filled with water.

m mustho ⋅ 2 years, 7 months ago #

I had this issue. Now OK. I thought the air inlet was blocked due to the floor cleaning chemical I added.

belo ⋅ 2 years, 10 months ago #

Hi,
I have the 3.5.8_1096 version and the main changes are :

- The app detects rooms, is it possible to give a name to each room and to ask the robot to clean specified rooms by clicking on them. When the robot detects modifications in the configuration of the rooms, it asks you to update the map. It's not a complete feature because you can't manually add forgotten room (per example : door closed during the 1st cleaning), so you have to reset the map.

- the path of the robot is drawed during cleaning. It draws a white line in real time like gyroscope-guided (lidar) robots. But I think it's less accurate than more expensive robots. It's not perfect, sometimes I see the line freezing on the map and the app becomes unstable, so I have to reboot the android app.

Scheduling for each room is missing. Scheduling works only whith a complete cleaning. But I find the updates are going in the good direction. In more than 1 year the interface of this robot has evolved a lot.

The abilities of the robot are impressive for the low price. But the job of engineers to improve the software is impressive too.

Hi, mi wife has long hair and sometimes it wraps around the big brush. But don't worry this will not stop the robot. But you will need to clean the brush more often, otherwise the dust will no enter the dustbin.

This is a little difficult because the brush is integral with its axis, you will sometimes have to cut the coiled hair with a cutter.

Arpit ⋅ 3 years ago #

Thanks.

I read that roborock s5 brush is compatible with 1c and it has removable side tips useful for cleaning hair easily.

Can anyone confirm this?

belo ⋅ 2 years, 10 months ago #

Hi,
I think roborock brushes doesn't work with mijia 1C. The brush seems identical... but the ends of the brush have a different shape.

However, you can find on internet a brush with removable sides compatible with mijia 1C.

I have never tested this because I got a pack of spare parts after buying the robot and I only have non-removable brushes.

Next time I'll buy a brush, I will look for a removable one.

Arpit ⋅ 3 years ago #

Hi Natalie,

I have being eyeing 1C vacuum. I am almost ready to buy it after reading your review out of many of them online. Something I haven't come across in any reviews so far are 2 things.

1. How well 1C performs with long hair? Does it get clogged? is it easy to clean? My wife & 2 daughters shed lots of hair and cuz of that I have to vacuum almost every alternate day.

2. Will it work fine on schedule in the night time? Of course after the house is mapped during the day time.

I have hardwood floor. Even though I have 2 level house. I am eyeing 1C only for downstairs. Mop might be a bonus but not counting on it.

Thanks.

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 12 months ago #

Hi there, I hear you already got the 1C. The robot is going to work in the dark but would act like a gyroscope-guided one which means it might bump into objects and get lost at night.

The 1C does pick up hair but I am not a fan of the solid brush as it's challenging to clean one. And I am not sure about the brush from the Roborock. I believe you meant the S5 Max with detachable side tips? It should fit but don't know if going to work fine.

Best,
Natalie

Hi Arm, thanks. Unfortunately, I don't know :( The Mono's board is a water tank?

Pos ⋅ 3 years ago #

Hi Natalie,
Thank you very much for this comprehensive review!
I know the FAQs say that you don't need WiFi to clean, but I was wondering if this would this work even without pairing with the app at all?
Thanks again,
Pos

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years ago #

Hi Pos, thanks. Yeah, the robot can clean on its own without the app, you can start, stop, send it to the dock as well as do spot cleaning. You won't be able to set no-go zones, see the created map, etc but the robot can work with no WiFi nor pairing with the app.

Nick ⋅ 3 years ago #

Thanks for the great review, fantastic that you update this when new firmware features fix issues. This vacuum would be perfect if it had schedules for each room. We have a medium sized house with lots of carpet but we only use a few rooms most of the time so it would be much better if it could clean the rooms that are used the most more often.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years ago #

As a solution, you can set no-go zones so it doesn't cross the other rooms but yeah it doesn't replace room schedules I feel you.

belo ⋅ 3 years ago #

Yes, the room scheduling is the only feature that makes me regret not having bought a robot with laser detection (lidar). Setting no-go zones is not perfect because you must ensure that the robot always has an access corridor between its base and the room to be cleaned

Stephen McCartney ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Hi Natalie,
Thanks for the fantastic review, it cleared up all my doubts and answered all my questions.
So, I've just ordered a 1C. I ordered it alone without spares as the difference in price seemed more than the spares could be bought when they're needed. Now I'm wondering are there both genuine and copy (3rd party) spares listed on AliExpress. If so, are copy spare parts ok, or should you get genuine?
Thanks again,
Stephen

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Hi Stephen, unfortunately, I don't know as I never bought spare parts for the robot, I don't think there would be a significant difference between genuine and copy tho.

belo ⋅ 3 years ago #

Hi, i bought a pack of non-genuine spare parts with Aliexpress (1 big red brush, 3 small brushes, 5 mop, 2 hepa filters) and the received items are identical to the original parts supplied with the mijia 1c

Alin ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

Thank you for the review!

Do you know if it is possible to use the battery from the Roborock S50 robot on a Mijia 1C vacuum robot? Moreover, if I switch the batteries, do I have to also switch the docking stations?

I'm not sure about size (and haven't found any info on the internet on this either), but both batteries have the same 14.4 voltage with different power outputs from the docking station.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hi Alin, I don't think it would work. One of our readers bought a battery from a Dreame F9, but I don't know how did it go.

Alin ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hi Natalie.

Thank you for the quick response and for redirecting me to users that are in a similar situation.

Steve ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hi Natalie

Thanks for the detailed review on the robot vacuum cleaner. Just want to ask would you able to define how small/average apartment? Do you have any number in mind in terms of sq ft or etc?

Thank you.

Stay safe!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hey Steve, approximately it cleans 0.8 square meters in 1 minute. Keep in mind some space is taken for furniture and other stuff so the actual cleaning area is smaller than the house size in general.

My apartment is 70 square meters and on max power, the 1C does not finish cleaning on one charge but I don't have much furniture too.

Steve ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Hi Natalie

Thanks for the prompt reply and sry for the late reply. Eventually I did bought the machine after reading what you written in this blog as well as the comment section. The cleaning and mopping function was really great, just that it take a while for the map to be generated. Another thing I want to ask is that would you recommend to mix water with floor detergent(a small amount), dettol etc for mopping?

Very much appreciated.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Hi Steve, the manufacturer does not allow mixing the water with any detergent as it might clog the pump. As a solution, you can manually add some to the cloth or directly on the floor.

Ahmet ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hi Natalie, I really appreciate the detailed review. I have read and watched this one, the one for the Vacuum Mop Pro and the comparison between those two. They have been so helpful to make my final decision and now I will go for this one which fits best into my situation. This comment is only to thank you, now I'll dive deeper into the existing comments to gather more information for the time that I actually start teaching my mom how to get the best out of it :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hey, Ahmet awww thank you for the kind words, they mean the world to me. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll try my best to help :)

Cheers

Tommy ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

Hi you all’

I bought the G1 as a cheap intro model to see if these things work for my home! And I love it! Thanks for your reviews!

I just have a question, do you know how to change the default suction power or water level mode, when scheduled a cleaning task?

Mine always starts in medium water mode and standard suction mode!

Thanks again!

Tommy.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

Hi Tommy, I haven't tested how scheduling works with the G1. I believe it should start based on previous cleaning settings but if you say it is not so then there is probably no chance to change the default settings.

Glad you like it tho :)

Tommy ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

Thanks for your reply!

Ahhh I hope they change it in a future update! Definitely gonna buy a premium model next time!!

Does the scheduling mode work different with the 1C or other model? Does it remember the default setting?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

The 1C allows setting a cleaning mode when scheduling the robot. But not the water level. You usually can set the water level in high-end devices only.

Currently, I can get Dreame F9 for a marginally more. Is Dreame a better buy?
Dreame appears not to support google assistant, not sure how much I would use that.. It has better mapping and scheduling, and double the battery?

Jake ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

It supports google home according to the Chinese Dreame site, but I'll let you know since I should be getting mine tomorrow. Will be comparing it to the former "high end" S6/T6 roborock.

Anyway this bot is basically a first gen "dreame" bot sold under the Xiaomi name, The D9 is the latest and has superior LIDAR mapping.

Dreame = 1C > F9> D9 in terms of release order.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

As Jake already said, those are two very similar models. The Dreame F9 has a larger battery and a room select feature. Other than that, there is no much of a difference between the two.

Peter ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Hello Natalie,
I bought the 1c and I noticed a strange behavior. In the midst of cleaning, it will sometimes stop, then rotate left and right at that spot for up to 15 minutes before it moves off. It is as if it somehow lost it's position and is trying to find where it is. Stranger still is that this happens consistently at a few spots on my floorplan, ie whenever the robot reaches that spot, this will happen. Just wondering if this is normal behavior?
Thanks!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Hi Peter! If those are the same spots every time, probably something confuses your robot. Can it be black spots? Does the robot stop with the water tank on? Can be an obstacle, a threshold, or something similar?

Peter ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Thanks for the quick response Natalie.
I brought the 1c it down to the service center and they diagnosed a problem with the motherboard and camera. Replaced both and it works just fine now. Thought you would like to know!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Oh glad the robot is fixed now! Indeed thank you for letting me know :)

Hello i would like to move the base to anothee room. But 1c cant find the new base it goes to the old one. What i have to do?

Pasan ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi,

Can this Robot vaccum at night when there's no light?

Thanks!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi Pasan,

If you already have the map saved, the 1C would follow it but might not be as precise navigating around since it has a gyroscope and would behave like those gyroscope-guided robots. Also, if you manually put it in a different room, it would not be able to find its location. When starting from the dock, it works fine. I would recommend making it work with light on to build a map at the very least and then if you don't mind those aspects I talked about earlier, run it with no light.

Ana Barreto ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi Natalie!
Excellent review, just bought 1C! Can it charge with the mop attached?
Thanks!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi Ana, thank you, glad it helped you to choose the best robot for your needs :) I would not leave the tank with a wet cloth attached on the floors other than tile to prevent the floor from damaging. Besides the cloth might be dirty after mopping so I would wash it before using it again. Other than that I don't see a reason why would you not leave the robot charging with the mop attached.

Jiří ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Which is better choice Xiaomi Mi 1C or Roborock E4? We have hard floor. Thank you.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi there, the Roborock has a large battery and is better for big homes. How big is your home? In terms of navigation and cleaning performance on hard floors, they are about the same, the optical sensor of the 1C recognizes rooms location, and the robot also has virtual walls as well as zoned cleaning. The E4 lacks these options. If your home is not cluttered you might not be using these features.

If your home is big and has a clean layout, go with the Roborock E4.
For smaller homes and areas where the robot potentially might get stuck (ie pet's place, kids bedroom with lots of toys on the floor, etc), consider getting the Xiaomi MiJia 1C.

Jiří ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Thank you for your advice, the robot will be clean the second floor of the house about 60m2, children's rooms, bedroom, hallway and toilet with bathroom. in the children's rooms there is a small thin carpet and scattered toys. Thank you.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

One more thing. The Xiaomi has an electronic water tank so you can adjust water output in the app. The Roborock has mopping attachments that are sold separately and the tank has a toggle to switch between two modes. So if mopping important to you and you are going to use the app, the MiJia 1C would probably be a better choice.

Fred ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

I have a floor that is half tiles (kitchen), half carpet (living room). I would want it to vacuum the carpet and carpet+mop the tiles. Does it somehow recognize the surface and apply the right method, or will it start mopping my carpet?

thanks in advance !

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi Fred, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C does not recognize which surface it is vacuuming/mopping. If you insert the water tank and mopping pad, the robot will mop and vacuum your surface but you can set virtual walls around the carpets. In this scenario, the Xiaomi will avoid carpets.

Best,
Natalie

Makis ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Natalia,
Do you think 1C is a good option for carpets and Hard floors? Is there any other robot you could suggest up to 350$ as a better alternative for carpets and Hard floors?
Thanks in advance.
Makis

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Makis, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C is the best for the price. For around this price ($350), you can get the 360 S6 or the 360 S5.

The 360 S6 is not as good on medium-pile carpets but does the job on low-pile carpets and hard floors. The 360 S5 does not have a mopping ability but is good on low and medium-pile carpets as well as hard floors.

Compared to the 360 S6, the Xiaomi MiJia 1C allows setting water level output.

If you don't mind the Xiaomi not having a Lidar, and lacking multimap support, go for it. It is the best option for the price.

Nice review! I tried using the zone cleaning feature but the robot kept returning to the charging dock within 5 seconds after started cleaning claiming that the cleaning route is blocked. Anyone experiencing similar issues?

harisma ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Yeap me. The problem solved with delete and redo mapping of the house.

Anon ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Hi, I had a similar issue with the robot being blocked by a tall door threshold in zoned cleaning and returning to base. Here’s how I fixed it: Make the zone in the app a bit larger and extended to an area prior to the selected area so the robot can enter its "cleaning mode" before being blocked. If it’s blocked before it reaches the zone it will cancel and return. If it starts to clean in a zone before being blocked, it will try to fight and move over the threshold instead of canceling if it has successfully passed the threshold before. It’s not perfect, but it’s a small workaround for now.

Hope this helps.

Hi. I have more of a general question regarding robot vacuums. I recently bought this cleaner and I have some furniture that are too low for the cleaner to go under. This means that the cleaner will bump into stuff with its sensor instead of its bumper. Can this cause damage to the cleaner? Is there anyway this can be prevented (without using virtual walls)?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Jess, I don't think there will be any damage to the cleaner in this scenario :)

So you mean that robot should be on dock as well as dock should be on in order to activate schedule. Right?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

I think so. I haven't checked myself but that's how the robots work, they start from the dock and have to automatically dock themself as the finish. When the station is off, the robot does not know where to return to as it can't "see" the home station.

I have one question on the scheduling part For mijia 1c model
I charged the robot yesterday night and put it on cleaning schedule for next morning through app
Then I switched oFF the dock

But I saw that sure few minutes I was no longer able to see the battery charge level on the app as the robot was in hibernate.
Also it didn't wake up at the scheduled time to start cleaning
Is it normal? Do I need to always keep the robot on the Dock and keep the dock on??

Hi Pintoo, yes you can't see the battery charge level when the robot is not on a docking station. As to a scheduled cleaning, the robot might not wake up as it should start from the docking station and get back to the station once it finishes cleaning.

Merlyn ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Natalie, do we need to always take out the water tank after each cleaning?or we can just leave the water tank with half filled water attached to the robot?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Merlyn, in theory, you can leave the tank on but I do not know whether it still be dripping or no. This my cause floor damage.

Besides the water tank reduces climbing ability which means the robot will not be able to climb on carpet.

Twh ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi there, the virtual boundaries and zoned cleaning features are available. It does not matter which version do you have, they work on both.

Ana Stosic ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

Thanks for a very detailed and helpful review. This was the only source that helped me decide buying Xiaomi Vacuum Mop 1C. We have already tried it with Standard Mode and it worked perfectly fine for our 74m2 apartment (- some furniture).
Nevertheless, it cannot step up the 2cm doorstep, not big of a deal though.
One question for mopping feature: can I put some softener I use for cleainong floors ot it can be only water?

Thanks.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Ana, so happy to read about your purchase :)

The doorstep might be too vertical so the robot can not climb on it. As to your question: the manufacturer does not recommend using any softener. However, I know some users do add some detergent into the water tank. I do not use it tho.
As a solution, you can pour the detergent directly on the floor.

Hello again!

I’m back and this time with a complicated situation. The robot started to shutdown mid cleaning. Sometimes it cleans everything and gets back to the dock, but most of the times it just stops mid cleaning. I specifically hear the power going off. It randomly stops on hard floors or carpets, I can’t find any explanation. Is there anyway to see the robot’s log? I tried to reset WIFI and the robot itself a few times now, but the problem maintains.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

Hi Catarina,

Unfortunately, I don't know what might cause this problem. Maybe it's something with power contacts or maybe not. You probably need to ask the seller maybe they can help.

jagi ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

Can you set a map for 2 floors or just one map?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

The MiJia 1C stores one map only.

degerli ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi, for those who encounter loosing base problem or wrong base placement on the map, i strongly recommend to set the base near another wall. When i bought my mijia 1c, it was placed near a wall that make partition between two rooms. So, the robot frequently lost the base, i had to reset the map every 1-2 weeks.

Then i set the robot on an outside wall... It was 1 month ago and the robot always finds its base and always draws it at the exact location on the map !

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Thank you so much this is good advice!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi there,
You can start the 1C if it's not on the dock but as it finishes cleaning it will probably be searching for the base. I haven't tested the robot like this so I can't say for sure how the robot behaves in this case. I don't think you can turn off the auto docking feature.

Alican ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

I'm living in an old apartment with very high door thresholds. I want to keep the dock at one of the rooms and move the robot around manually. I was actually doing this with my Eufy 11 and turning off auto docking. So my question is the following: Can I start the robot when it's not in its dock? Does the robot try to go back to the dock endlessly when it finishes cleaning a single room? Basically can I turn off the auto docking feature? Thanks a lot in advance.

Emre ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi there Natalie,
I sincerely appreciate the effort you put into the reviews and replying the questions, kudoz for a good job done :)
I am planning on purchasing a Mijia 1c based on your recommendation.
We live in a house of three floors each of which are 70 m2, and certain rooms and areas are divided by steps which the robot cleaner would be unable to climb. So basically, I am speaking of four main floors and two divided rooms.
I cannot afford more expensive models like S5 or similar models, and the likes of Mi Robot vacuum-mop P lack the specs (such as suction power) of 1c and support saving up to 3 maps so that is also no good for us map-wise.
I don't mind not being able to save multiple maps although that would make 1c much efficient. I can carry the cleaner to a separate floor each time it finishes one. What I would like to know is, do you think it would be unwise to let 1c recreate a map each time it starts? Would it render the machine extremely inefficient to do so?
Thank you very much in advance :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hey there,
So basically you saying the robot will probably not be able to save one map and be rebuilding a new one on each floor, right? When the map is created, it knows where to go which makes cleaning (navigation) more efficient. Basically you will not miss much if it will create one after every cleaning. Besides, normally it takes a few attempts for the 1C to have it 100% built.
Basically you the 1C will be moving in straight lines but with no ability to save two maps. Keep in mind, if you interrupt the machine as it cleans aka move it through the steps, etc, it will not finish the map.
Overall, I think it should work just fine if you are okay with such things :)

Robin ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi i really liked your review. I'm wondering if I can turn on the mi 1c when I'm away from home? And if it works systematically or random?

I have a Deebot 605 now but it doesn't clean my sleeping room somehow, maybe with the mi 1c it does?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Robin, the Deebot 605 does not follow a purposeful cleaning pattern and is not able to map (remember) your home plan.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C does. It maps the whole interior and saves a map of your home so it knows where it needs to clean. It moves back-and-forth in straight lines which prevents missing some spots as the robot cleans.
Since the 1C has an app, you can turn it on when you're away from home by using the Mi Home app.

Catarina ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hello again!

Since I’ve purchased my xiaomi mijia 1c (two months ago), I now have recommended it to 4 more friends :)
Unfortunately one of them has problems connecting to the robot right out of the box. She tried (i was on facetime trying to help) on an android and on an iPad and the end result is the same: cannot get through the config.
With the android, it get stuck on “searching discoverable bluetooth devices” right after clicking the two buttons on the robot and hearing the voice command to initiate pairing. On the iPad the issue is different although the end result is the same: clicking on both buttons, hearing the voice command, clicking next to when you have to connect to its wifi, hearing “successfully connected to phone please go back to the app to continue the setup” and when she goes back to the app it doesnt go from the “go to wifi settings” step. I tried to reset the robot and try everything again and again and with no luck. The mihome was downloaded yesterday from the app stores so I believe it would be updated. I also tried with the bluetooth on on both devices.
Anyone has any idea?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Catarina, oh wow I am so happy to hear you like the robot. Sometimes your phone and the robot connects to different WiFi networks, may that was the reason why it couldn't connect? Otherwise, unfortunately, I don't know why the robot does not connect.

Carlos Rios ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Natalie
Thanks for all the information you provide about the Xiaomi 1C, it was very useful for us.
It came to us 1 week ago and it works very well,
We only have one problem, as the water tank is being used, it creates a vacuum inside the tank, I mean, for example, when the water tank is in the middle of its capacity, it costs more to throw water because it generates a vacuum or pressure inside by the water used and decompresses when the cap is removed,
Has that problem happened to you? if so how did you fix it?
Thanks a lot

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hey, Carlos. I honestly didn't use mopping as much to say something about it but it never happened with me. How do you know it creates a vacuum inside? Does water stop dripping after some time of the cycle?

Carlos Rios ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Exactly, when you consume half the water, the other half costs you more to get out,
it is preferable to fill with water before continuing to use.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hm as I said I didn't use mopping as much but I remember it doesn't consume as much water as saying a Roborock. Maybe if you try to remove and attach the tank again it will work fine? Unfortunately, I don't know how you can fix that.

Ray ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Thanks for the response.
Yes it is 30cm (essentially a whole step). I see, so basically my options is either to go with the more expensive S5Max, or keep cleaning the upper section manually. Ok, thanks for clariying.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

If you want the robot to save a map so yes, you need multimap support. You can go with a randomly-moving robot like a Eufy. In this case, the robot will just run around and you can manually move it to the bedroom.
Or yes, you can clean the upper section manually :)

Ray ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Nathalie,

Thank you for a detailed review. We live in a average sized house 70sq meters. We have a 30cm step that separates our bedroom and study. Would you know if this model would work with such setup? Is it the case of simply waiting while the robot is done with the main part of the house before manually lifting it to do the bedroom and study? I don't mind that but it have any disadvantage? And would you recommend a different model then?
Thanks

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hey Ray, I don't know a robot that would be able to handle a 30 cm (30 cm, not 30 mm, right?) step. You can buy one tho but it will not save a map of your house if you manually lift the robot during the cleaning cycle.

If you interrupt such a process none robot vacuum would be able to finish cleaning. But you can get one with multifloor support and create two maps with the bedroom and the rest of the house. In this scenario, it will cover the whole house. You only need to manually move the robot to the bedroom.
I would recommend going with the Roborock S5 Max but it is more expensive.

Maybe try to start mopping without pre-wetting the cloth first and see if the cloth will be wet after some time.

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

I tried but it seems not running the mop .. it’s only doing sweeping but not mopping. How to check if the water tank is working fine and the three outlets if water are working fine? Also I accidentally ran it on a carpet once .. it is because of that ?

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

I'm sorry I didn't understand. Did you try using the mopping without pre-wetting the cloth first and see if the mop got wet?

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Yes as you had suggested , I tried using a totally dry mop but it seems that the vacuum is not supplying water properly to the mop as before... it looks a bit wet after a while but not like before and hence either there is some problem with the amount of water being sprayed or supplied to the mop .

Any suggestions ?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Try to change the water output to the lowest settings and see how it goes. Maybe after you change that and run the robot in low settings, the highest settings will work properly? Anyways, these are only suggestions.

Kaai ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Aditi and Natalie,

I facing same issue as Aditi where my xiaomi vacuum is not supplying/dispersing water to the mop pad. If anyone of you found solution to this, please share.

Thank you in advance.

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

I didn’t use any cleaning solution and also i feel that it is not doing mopping at all.. only cleaning again and again. Just want to understand- that as we put the mop pad on .. it understands that now it will mop.. other than that no setting to change it to only mopping. Am I correct in my understanding?

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi all ,

I have been using Mijia 1c for a month now and has been working well so far . But in last 2-3 runs I have observed that while mopping , it is not using the water from the tank much , or may be not using at all . I usually make the mop cloth a bit wet before we starting the cleaning and hence when it starts , it does show a few wet areas but I Guess it’s because I had made the mop cloth wet before I started the mopping . But soon after 5-6 mins as the mop cloth dries up , I don’t see the floor being wet at all , or atleast 1/4th of what it used to be when I used it earlier .
And this is when I use the option of using maximum water from the app .

Anyone can provide some resolution on this ?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Aditi, I believe something happened with the pump. Maybe it got clogged or something? Have you added a cleaning solution into the tank?

ged10 ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hello,
I bought MIJIA 1C 1 month ago. It works well. But I encounter some problems with the base location on the map.

The very 1st time I turn on the robot, I build an entire map. The following cleanings were OK.

But, sometimes, it returns to his base and makes an error of a few inches... so it draws the base outside a wall in the Xiaomi Home App. And the next cleaning is bad, it forget some areas : all the map is wrong because it's measuring the distances from his base that he thinks is in the wall..

Also, it is impossible to ask him to clean a specific area or to set virtual walls because he gets lost in the map, which is out of sync...

I usually solve it by rebuilding a map or launching a full cleaning.... But it's boring, it takes a long time and I don't always want to do a full cleaning.

Do you encounter this problem ? Is there a way to manually move the base location in the map ? Should I move the base to another room ? It's in the kitchen right now. I put it there because it's the most often cleaned room.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi there. Have you tried moving the base to a different location and start cleaning from that location? The robot should relocate the base in this case. But if it already ruined the map I believe you have to start building a new map. But try relocating the base first anyway.

BIANCA ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

where to buy replacement battery? do you use it to sweep everyday?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Unfortunately, I don't know where to buy a battery. No, I do not use this robot every day as I have other robots too.

C ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Natalie,
I read your review but I cannot find information about under the furniture cleaning. Now I try to seek the robot that sweep or mop the area of under the bed. It has height from the floor about 10 centimeters. I'm not sure its can work or suitable for my requirement because the robot is high 8.2 cm. I think it can work but still nervous. If anyone ever used like this please let me know to clarify the doubt.
BR,
Nuttariya.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hey Nuttariya,
I think it can get under the bed as it is 8.2 cm short. I would not recommend getting a shorter robot as it most likely would not be able to vacuum carpets.

C ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Thank you Nalalie. My floor is the tile not a carpet.
I also see the new one that just launch on April,Xiaomi MiJia G1.
But I think feature of Xiaomi MiJia 1C is better than.
How about you?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

I honestly don't see the point of buying the G1 so far. Same price but the 1C has better specifications. Maybe if the G1 was cheaper...

C ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Ha Ha Ham, G1 is cheper than 1C as your told.
Now I'm so confuse. Yesterday, Xiaomi office at China answer me that 1C can not work with 10 cm free space under my bed. Oh my god, How should I do?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

On Gearbest you can find the 1C for ~$240 and the 1G for ~$250. They both are 8.2 cm short.

Christos T. ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

Hi. Did you get a safe answer or maybe did you bought and tested if 1C goes under a 10cm space?

joejojung ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

Yes. I bought 1C already. It can work under my bed. I have plan to buy a new one the price is cheaper than I got.

Christos T. ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

What is the height under your bed?

Joejojung ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

10cm.

HD ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hello,

Is the map supposed to make the robot move more efficiently? This is my experience:

First time run without map: 42-43 minutes
Run with map: 38-39 minutes

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hey there, yes when the robot knows where it should clean it cleans more efficiently. Either it is Lidar or gyroscope-guided.

Sounds like you robot made it perfectly well :)

Theun ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

If I would pick the robot up to clean another floor. Will it remember the floor plans?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

The robot remembers one floor plan only

Matheo Koning ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

yes, even with a saved map, the robot still crashes into its legs and hard too. Unfortunately, the saved folder doesint shows obstacles in the room.

I have coverd part of the sensor where the robot thinks there is a wall nearby. now it moves and bumps a lot slower, but the robot seems to continue to work well. Wish I could see somewhere which infrared sensors are on the front and what purpose they have for the correct masking of the robot.

Matheo Koning ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi,

is there any way to decrease the speed of the robot? I have dark furniture and the robot bumps into my furniture very hard.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Matheo, there is no way of decreasing the speed of the robot. Its sensors simply do not "see" your furniture because of it's being dark. Does it bump into it even when it has a map saved?

HD ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hello,

I bought the 1C, and it bumps into stuffs as expected. However, the infrared sensor has got some scratches on it (because of the bumpings). Over time, I guess the sensor will get more and more scratches. In the end, will this reduce the infrared sensor's performance too much?

In short, does the scratches affect the infrared sensor's performance at all?

Michael ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi,
not sure how it got scratches since there is a soft protective rubber strip at the bottom of the bumper. Perhaps some furniture has protruding parts at the height of the sensors. Try to figure out the exact things that scratching the bumper and maybe move it somewhere or block with virtual walls. Hard to say if the scratched black strip with sensors can reduce the infrared sensor's performance.

Hi,

what is propper way to disable mopping function?
Remove water tank?
Just remove mopping pad?
Or maybe leave water tank with pad but do leave it empty?

I have tested 1C without water tank and it seems to work ok. However I am not sure if that is propper way to do it?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

When the mopping attachments are off, the mopping function is disabled. You still can leave the tank with no water inside but you are reducing climbing ability which causes problems with crossing some thresholds, etc. I would recommend just removing the attachments when they are not needed.

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi can anyone please help me set up the map as I am not able to figure that out yet. My map is not complete yet (100%) it’s still 80% .. is that the reason? Please explain how to set up the room wise description and also how to make zones to explain zonal cleaning etc?

selmons ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi,
to build a more accurate map, the first times you run the robot, you need to open all the doors of your house. You must also remove obstacles from the ground : put your chairs and small objects on table. The map is complete when the robot can finds all the outwalls.

Is it not possible to set up room description, but I hope a firmware update for that. At this time with the experimental features you can only draw a zone for ponctual zone cleaning.

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Ok thanks. But I already did that first time and tried to do scanning whole house 3-4 times already but still 80% complete. Not increasing even after 2 days of 80% complete.. when I have run it twice. Also my kitchen has a little step so it cannot go up when kitchen is done and when I put it up the step it starts scanning it as new region. This is very strange.
Can you explain and help me how else now I can do it 100%? I am really not able to understand why it is not increasing.

Dave Rutland ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Maybe a stupid question but does it recognise carpets when in mopping and vacuming mode and not wet the carpet??

Thanks Dave

selmons ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi,
Sorry it doesn't recognize carpets.

If you have rooms with a lot of carpets, when you mop you must make a virtual wall to keep the robot from going there. Carpets can only be vacuumed so you have to remove the mop before.

With the experimental features if you have few carpets, you can also make a "non cleaning zone" on them

galli ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hello,
I'm in Europe. I wanted a robot under 200€. Reading this article convinced me that it was a good investment. I bought 5 days ago the MIJIA 1C and I'm starting to get familiar with this robot vacuum cleaner. I have the experimental features (smart map creation, zone cleaning, virtual walls, and forbidden zones).

The robot created a smart map of my ground floor (60 sq. meter) in a single pass. It now navigates more accurately and knows how to go from its base to a designated area, but I find it's not as accurate as a guided robot with LIDAR: it doesn't recognize interior walls, it often bumps into obstacles, and sometimes I think he's running over already cleaned zones.

I wonder if there aren't any other features? (in the future ?). Is it possible to :
-load a map in the map history as a main map ? (for example when you put the robot upstairs...)
-Improve an existing map without erasing it ? (add rooms that were closed during the previous cleaning)
-give a name to the areas of the map such as "kitchen", "living room", "bedroom", "bathroom", etc.? Or is it limited to draw a rectangle around the area to be cleaned?
-deactivate the mop function via the xiaomi home application without having to remove the water/mop tank?

Thanks a lot for your help !

Michael ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi,
unfortunately, it is no as accurate in terms of navigation as Lidar-based robot vacuums. But Lidar based robot vacuums cost twice as much as the 1C. I doubt the features you mentioned will be ever implemented in this robot vacuum considering the price. Most of the robot vacuums in this price range use random cleaning pattern, can't build a map, have weaker suction, and doesn't have the smart features this robot has, so it is already much better than competitors.

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Yes,I have received my 1c recently and I used it and the mentioned features are much improved in the latest version. But I am still in the process of figuring out the Map as my house map is still 80% complete.
It’s completely a value for money and has awesome cleaning capabilities. I totally loved the mopping it did in my kitchen and wooden floored rooms.

selmons ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

I confirm, this is a very great value for money ! It has a high suction power, intelligent movements and the ability to mop the floor. Other robots without optical navigation move randomly and can't clean a specific area.

before buying the xiaomi, i looked for a low price lidar robot like 360 s5 but it's $100 more and it doesn't mop. i looked also roborock but it's too expensive for me

Stefania ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Good Afternoon,
Just bought the MiJia 1C Xiaomi. I am still getting familiar with the unit. I have a question if you could help. Can it be used for vacuuming only i.e without the mopping option? If yes, do you still keep the mop pad installed in the unit?
Thanks for your help.
Stefania

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Stefania, glad you got this model. Yes, you can run the robot only in vacuum mode but I would not recommend leaving the mop pad because it will catch small debris and get dirty as the robot goes over them.

Catarina ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Yes, I could add something physical as I do right now, but I’d love to see some improvement on multi map saves. I noticed that he cleans better if he’s always cleaning the same map, as if he’s learning how to be more precise.

It would be a perfect add.

Thanks everyone.

Catarina ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi,

First of all congrats on the review: it really helped me make my decision and I ended buying this robot.

I’m specially impressed with the power suction and how my floor gets absolutely clean, even tho i have a dog (labrador -
a lot of hair on the ground).

I live in a 70m2 house (two floors) and that’s why I chose this one. The specs are really similar to Roborock S50, but what it loses in battery it gains in power suction. I can vacum both floors in one charge if I do not choose the most powerful option (it has 4). If I clean everyday, I can select the standard / strong (levels 2 / 3) and it gets clean as good as with the strong one.

The only thing that I need to be able to do is save both floor maps. I was wondering if I could do it by adding a new room and then add the same robot but with a different name. That way it should map both floors... anyone tried it yet?

Regarding HD’s question: I don’t know why but it never saves the 1st floor map, only downstairs (where’s the dock).

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Catarina, thank you for the feedback.

I don't think you can add the same device twice. To the map saving question: it should start from the dock and docks itself on its own maybe that's why it doesn't save a map? Another reason might be the lighting. In poor lighting it might not go well...

Catarina ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Oh, I didn’t know it needs to dock himself. That must be the explanation why it doesnt save the map for the 1st floor: there’s obviously stairs so I have to pick it up and drop it on dock.

I could park the dock upstairs so he can map the floor and with that I could prevent it from getting stuck under the toilet (with virtual walls) but the floor that I use the most and that I need to clean everyday is the one downstairs...

Difficult choices.

HD ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

A possible solution might be to place a physical object that prevents the robot to access the area under the toilet(where it gets stucked). It’s like a physical wall instead of virtual.

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi, please help me set up the map. I am not able to figure out the mapping yet. Does it need to be 100% complete before saving it? When will that happen because I have already run it 4-5 times now but it still says 80% complete.
Also can I define zones/ rooms in it?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hey there, yes, the map should be 100% complete before you can set no-go zones or zoned cleaning. Maybe your home is too big so it needs more time to save the map. Try to run it under different light conditions maybe?

Aditi ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thanks for the reply! But my map is still not going forward 80% and I have been doing whole of my house twice daily from 3 days. Only problem is it doesn’t scan my whole house in one go because my kitchen has a little step which it can go down but can’t go up. So every time it finishes , I pick up and help it to go up and start scanning but it says detected a new area and starts with a new map which is very very difficult to understand.
Can you. Help me with this issue as to how to complete map 100 quickly?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Your robot can not complete the job because you manually interrupt its cleaning by picking it up to help it go up. Every time you manually move the robot it relocates itself. So if you want it to complete mapping you either block that area or try to figure out what to do so the robot can go up by itself.

aditi vohra ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thanks so much!! I will try to zone it out may be or put a thing down to make it climb. Thanks a ton

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

No problem, I hope it was the reason why your map is still not complete.

aditi vohra ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

We tried doormats to make it move up and climb out of the kitchen but it doesn’t work and the moment we try to help it to come out , it pauses and then starts the reapositoning and hence new area is detected . Hence map is never getting completed. Another thing is if now I run it by closing my kitchen and try doing Rest all house, will it be able to complete the map or still it will have kitchen area in its memory and would still not complete?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Try to close the kitchen door. In this case you will not have a map of the kitchen but the rest of your home should be complete.

aditi vohra ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi, thanks so much!! This worked and my map is now 100% complete and I have got the rest of the house mapped. Now please tell me how to do zoning and what is the best way to use them to the most?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Glad it can make it! I would use the no-go zones around some areas with cords or where you know the robot will find hard times to navigate.

HD ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thank you for testing this. This was exactly the answer that I was hoping for :)

HD ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

When moving the robot to the second floor, will the previously saved map of the main floor be deleted?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Yes, the robot saves one map only. I can't check it as I only have one floor but based on specifications it only saves one map.

HD ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thanks for reply. Yes, it only saves one map, but I'm curious if it will overwrite this map if the robot is moved to another floor. If someone have tested it, I'll be glad to hear about this.

Another question: Is it possible for the robot to start at scheduled time without being in the charger docking at start? That we can just put it in second floor (this floor does not have charger), and then it will start at scheduled time?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

As far as I know robots should start from the dock if you set a schedule. Another thing would be the battery life. If the robot is not staying on the dock it gets out of power so it might be out of charge when the time to clean has come.

Arturo ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

May i know what are those 'smart features' that i will not able to access.
Or maybe i can just use phone tethering hotspot as the wifi?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

The MiJia 1C supports virtual walls and zoned cleaning. It also saves a map of the cleaning area.
Unfortunately, I don't know if it will work with the phone hotspot.

fara ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

i don't have home wifi. so can i still maximize the usage of smart features through connecting my phone to the robot?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Fara, your need WiFi to connect the robot to the app anyway. Without wifi you will not be able to use the app which means no access to smart features. Only can turn on and off the device, return to the dock, and order it to do spot cleaning.

Joro Penchev ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

I actually think the robot can sustain its own wifi that you can use to connect to the phone. But of course if the phone is not connected to the internet, then likely the server connection to Xiaomi will fail.

MF ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

Thank you so much for the review. I almost had my decision made when i saw in Portugal a new robot, the "Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner Pro". I think that this is a new robot, but it's not a Mijia or a Roborock. But it seems a lot like the Roborock S5. Am i wrong? Some of the features are Lidar navigation, 2100Pa suction motor, 3200mAh battery...

Did you tested something like this? (I know that Xiaomi uses a lot of brands and names for the same product)

Thank you.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hey there. We are probably talking about the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P (or STYJ02YM).

I have tested both and I like the 1C more anyway. It has better suction and actually performs much better on carpet and hard floor. May perform a bit worse at mopping but overall I would go for the MiJia 1C anyway :)

MF ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thank you so much for your time.

The battery is an important thing to me. I need a robot that cleans around 150m2/160 m2, that's why i didn't make my mind yet and buy the 1C. I'll take a few more days before i make my decision.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

The MiJia 1C didn't make it in my 65 sq. m. apartment on one charge so I wouldn't recommend getting it for such large home. The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P cleans about 0.8 m2 in one minute which also would not be enough for your home. I would recommend getting a Roborock because of 150 minutes of battery life and overall good cleaning performance.

But it depends on you anyway :)

MF ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

That is the one... but costs twice as much. It's my first robot so i don't want to spend that much.

And it is clear to me that probably the robot will clean my house on two charges. And i must say i did get very impressed with your review on the 1C. The only problem to me is the map saving on the APP that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Thank you :)
I see. On max poser settings, the robot will have to resume twice (unfortunately I don't know if the 1C can resume twice or only once). It also depends on how much furniture do you have. The more you have, the less area it is left to be cleaned.

I don't recommend getting the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P if you have carpets as it does do a good job on carpets.

The map saving feature works just fine on the 1C. The experimental features were temporary turned off. You only have to run the robot a few times before it saves the map. But I haven't tested it in a such big area tho.

MF ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

I end up buying the Roborock S5 2 months ago. Like you said, it is perfect for me. Thanks.

Yet, I remember you saying that the detachable side tips brush from the S5 Max fits perfectly on the 1C (therefore on the S5). I'm thinking on buying filters and main brush from the S5 Max. Did you try to run the 1C with this roller or did you just saw if it fits? And are the filters also the same? I washed it and now the robot says it is clogged. I don't think that it is a good idea to wash the filters. The dust ends up getting even deeper on the filter.

Thank you.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Hi there, glad you decided to go with the S5. I don't remember saying the cleaning brush from the S5 Max fits on the 1C but it is interchangeable with the S5.
I have tried running the Roborock S5 with the S5 Max cleaning brush, the filters are interchangeable within the Roborock S series lineup.

The reason why your robot says it's clogged might be because the filter was not dry. It may feel like being dry but it still can be wet inside. Normally I use a hairdryer to make sure it can be used again.

una ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi, i just get my robot mijia 1c.. already testing it.. just 1 question, how to save the map in the apps?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi there, do you have experimental features on? Find the "Map saving mode" menu and switch it on. It takes a few cleaning cycles to save the map, but make sure you turn it on first.

una ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

ok noted on that. 1 more, the vacuum should resume cleaning on the last spot after charging right? but why my vacuum did not resume, i need to press start clean up, but then it did not go to the last spot it clean before go to charging.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

It takes time for the robot to recharge before resuming. You don't have to press the power button, the robot does it automatically. Try to give the 1C more time to recharge before it continues cleaning :)

Joro Penchev ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Natalie! I just bought the Mijia 1C from AliExpress thanks to your excellent review on all points that interested me.

However, I am hesitant to run it (instead of returning) for two reasons:
- the model seems to be Chinese version and not international - there's only a Chinese manual, all labels are in Chinese, ...
- the reddit thread you mention up there seems to have users having their device updated without them having done anything - is there a chance that it will auto-update with the buggy update that can fry the mother board?

So I was wondering if you have any info whether it is now safe to update now and is there any danger for auto-update that will destroy the device?

And also, is there any difference between the Chinese and international version and do you happen to know where one can find a manual in English for how to operate the device? Thanks!

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Joro,
I don't think there is a risk of damaging the device currently. The issue with bricked devices happened a few weeks ago and Xiaomi reacted immediately and deactivated the experimental features. A bit later they released a fixed firmware and activated the experimental features again (but not for all users as far as I know). I followed the topic, read comments on other websites, and didn't notice any problems recently. So I think it is safe to update now.
Looks like there is no international version of this robot at the moment. Mine also comes with a Chinese manual and I was not able to find an English user guide anywhere.

Joro Penchev ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Natalie! Thanks for your reply :) So if I understand correctly, you're saying that there's no trouble using the robot in Europe and with the MiHome app in English? (i can live without the manual but having the app in chinese and non operational in Europe would be a bummer)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Joro, yup I am using it on the European server with the app in English, no problem so far :)

Joro Penchev ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hey Natalie! Thanks for your help and apologies for my many questions! Were you also able to make the device speak in English? Is this done via the app? (Since the app forces me to update the firmware, I am still hesitant to do it)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

As far as I know, Xiaomi has fixed this firmware so update yours. Yes, you can change it to speak English, no problem.

Feel free to ask any questions, I am always happy to help :)

I did test the robot a couple of times already and I am pretty impressed! It does a great job :) thanks a lot for the review again. I'm a bit baffled by the location management feature in the app - not sure why would I be adding rooms if the robot considers the entire appartment/map as one thing. Maybe it has to do with other Mi devices.

I am also not super sure about the maintenance of the water tank - should it be emptied every time? The water doesnt seem dirty inside. I am a bit worried about spills on the metal plaques that seem to connect to the chassis electrically.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hey there, glad you like the robot!

Unfortunately I don't know about the water talk leaking. It seems like a well-build thing that should not but I can't be 100% sure about it. I normally leave it empty after mopping tho.

Joro Penchev ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

p.p. this seems to be a manual for the older version (1S), I hope it's somewhat similar - https://www.manualsearcher.com/xiaomi/mijia/manual?p=1

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Thank you! This might be useful for many Xiaomi owners.

Hi Natalie,

Thank you for your review about Xaomi Mijia 1c. Was really usefull on making decision what to purchase.

Recently got this robot, and very happy. Purchased it in Europe and it came with user manual in 8 different languages.
Latest firmware update by using app: no problem
Tried zoned cleaning: no problem
Battery holding same as you wrote in one of your posts.

Thank you.

Joro Penchev ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hey Rock! Is there any chance you could scan the manual (particularly the English version)? I am sure people will appreciate :) Is the bottom plate of your device in English or in Chinese?

Rock ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Joro,

Sorry I dont gave a scanner.:(
Plate on a bottom are english.
One of the line states
Manufactured by: Dreame technology (Tianjin).

Hi Rock! Thanks, thats helpful. Actually, even a phone-made photo would be of great help because my only alternative is to try and google translate by camera, which is.... lacking. Would be great if you can help :) my email is jorram_bt in yahoo.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Rock, wow I am happy you got the robot and so far everything works just fine for you :) I can't stop recommending this robot since I really like it.

Kika ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Natalie, could you please give me an advice what to do if spot cleaning does not work on xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop (Mijia 1C)?According to user manual I shoul press and hold "Dock button" for 3seconds to start Spot Clean mode, but vacuum cleaner still wants to go to the dock. I've tried it several times. Unfortunately, the result was still the same. Is it possible to turn it on via app? If so, could you please write me how?
Thank you for your answer

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi there. I have tried the same with mine, the spot cleaning works just fine. Try to place the robot vacuum somewhere far from the dock if this does not help maybe resetting the bot would help?
If you got experimental features, you can set zoned cleaning as an option.

kika ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Natalie, thank you for your reply. I tried these procedures (far from dock, resetting a robot) and still does not work properly. I was so sad so I decided to hold "dock button" as long as a robot will say something else like "I´m going to the dock". Finally, the partial cleaning started! Yupii :) We must hold dock button longer than was written in user manual, approx. 7 sec.
Have a nice day

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Woohoo! Glad it worked for you :)

Farid ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi, Have you heard anything about " Xiaomi G1 vacuum cleaner "? It seems they have improved Battery capacity and one more side brush...

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi, Farid, yes I have heard about this robot but I didn't mention it anywhere. They did improved battery capacity a bit but reduced suction power. Let's see what the international price would be first :)

Jason ⋅ 4 years ago #

Great review Natalie. Just wondering is it possible to upgrade/replace the brush on this (Xiaomi 1c) with one that has removable tips? If so which brush would work?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi Jason, thank you :)
Yes, you can replace it with a Roborock roller brush. I just tried to replace the Mijia 1C brush with the Roborock S5 Max brush and it fits perfectly well. The Roborock S5 Max, S4, and S6 come with a brush that has detachable side tips. Probably because of Roborock is the OEM manufacturer of the Xiaomi Mijia 1C.

mat ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

between mijia 1c and ilife a9, which one do you suggest (please dont consider cost)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi Mat. Definitely the MiJia. Stronger suction, the ILIFE A9 doesn't have mopping too. I haven't tested the ILIFE A9 but I would got for the Xiaomi anyway. As I've said before, I think this is the best in the price range.

Jason ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Awesome Natalie thank you. From what’s available right now I think this is the best value for me (especially with zoned cleaning, no go zones and adjustable mopping) so I’ve gone ahead and ordered what is apparently the international version.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

That's cool! If you want to share your impressions about the robot we would love to hear :)

Jason ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

This a bit of a long shot because I suspect there’s a hardware or software problem I can’t solve but here goes.

I received the Xiaomi 1c robot 2 days ago. On the 1st day all was good. I then updated the firmware and It was still working great the first day. I then scheduled a cleanup for the following morning and it cleaned for about 2 hours until low battery so when checking the map it was going way off the floor plan; It was lost and didn’t know it had finished. Since then it has not been working properly. When it starts to clean it doesn’t clean in straight lines anymore and the map is completely wrong (because it thinks it’s cleaning in straight lines) so it cannot clean properly or go home to dock. You can see in my picture that it thinks it’s behind the dock. I’ve tried restarting, resetting, redownlading the app, cleaning the robot. Nothing works. I don’t know if you’ve come across this kind of problem before?

Ps. I can seem to attach pictures or videos here.

Jason ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hope this helps. I’ve uploaded 2 short videos of the robot and the mapping. But you can see the robot is not navigating correctly.

https://youtu.be/jCOOzbsRexQ

https://youtu.be/MKLy7vM57s0

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Jason,
I've checked both videos, it's a really strange robot's behavior. I never faced such a problem with the robot, so hard to say how to solve it. Hope its just a firmware issue that will be solved with the next firmware update. By the way, did you try to restore the robot's factory settings? If no, try this method:
Remove the dustbin and find a small reset button near the wi-fi indicator (as on this photo).
Press this button and hold for several seconds until you hear "Restoring to the factory settings"
Then you need to pair the robot with the app again.

Jason ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

Thank you. Yes I’ve tried resetting it several times, deleting and reinstalling the app, changing regions, changing settings, installing the app on a different device, changing router, even Resetting and running it without connecting it to the app and it still goes diagonal.

I suspect it’s something to do with drivetrain, software or the sensor on the device itself. Shame I can’t wipe and reinstall firmware to check if that that is the problem.

I’m in touch with the seller now so will see what their technician comes back with.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hope it's just a firmware issue that may be fixed in the next update. But in this case, there would be other users who have the same problem with this update. In a worst-case scenario, it may be a hardware issue (sensors or drivetrain as you mentioned).

Jason ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Just my luck hey! I couldn’t find anyone else having the same issue as me either.

As it’s not useable as is, so I‘ll probably be sending it back tomorrow. They said they could replace it but now I’m wondering if I’m better off going with something else. I just want a stress free robot vacuum that will do it’s thing (Clean well and consistently) without me worrying.

I was considering ‘upgrading’ to the roborock s5 max (I think you can reset all roborocks to factory firmware?). What are your thoughts on whats best to go for? I’ve read you really like the 360 s6 so interested in why you use that over the roborocks/others?

I’m familiar with the roborock brand but so much with 360 so a little hesitant there perhaps.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 11 months ago #

Hey Jason. I'm sorry to hear you couldn't get along with the Xiaomi 1C.

To your question about the S5 Max. So far I think the Roborock S5 Max is the best value for the price. I like this particular model and would recommend to anyone who is ready to spend a bit more and get a decent vacuum.

As to the 360 S6 I would suggest it as a good choice for about $300. The 360 robots are great and they are cheaper than a Roborock. This would be a great purchase if you don't want to pay more. For the price you buy a very well built robot vacuum with premium features including multimapping something a Roborock lacked for a long time but not anymore.

The 360 S6 would be good if you don't have medium-pile carpets or have no carpets at all. And also would be good if your place is not big.

If comparing saying the 360 S7 (the newer version) with the Roborock S5 Max, you can see that it doesn't have an electronic water tank and the tank is smaller too which means it is not suitable for medium to big hard floor areas. Another thing is setting cleaning mode and water output for each room. Something I have only seen in a Roborock.

To make it a bit easier for you: the Roborock S5 Max is a great choice no matter you have carpets of only hardwood floors. But if you want something cheaper and your place is not big, have a look at the 360 S6 or S7 too, these are decent competitors of the Roborock. Keep in mind, the 360 S6 doesn't have room cleaning, only zoned cleaning and no-go zones (lacking no-mop zones as well).

And I can't stop talking about the Roborock customer support. If you have a question you can contact them via an email and get a respond shortly after. Big point to Roborock.

Hi Jason, Hi Natalie!
I'm having the exact same issue that Jason had with the Xiaomi 1C. It worked the first week but now it justs cleans in diagonal! same as your videos...
I've tried reseting, reinstalling the app, deleting the cache, remapping and nothing worked.
I suppose I will have to make a complaint with the seller.

Hi Natalie,
My robot is giving me an error - please check and clean your main brush. But even after cleaning and thoroughly checking the robot still says that. PLEASE CHECK AND CLEAN THE MAIJ BRUSH .

As I understand the main brush is the orange one and have thoroughly cleaned that but after running for 10 second the error comes again with a red light and it stops working .. repeats the same message again .. this is for MIJIA 1C .. in the app it shows that for main brush there are 76 days remaining for changing the brush and hence that does not seem to be a concern ... can you please suggest something or in case you have come across a similar situation before ?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

Try to manually rotate the main brush, it might do so tightly. I haven't had any similar issues so I don't know what might cause this issue...

Rosie ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi, thanks for your review, I bought this 1c last week. After updating firmware, it provided me with virtual wall, no zone and zoned cleaning. It worked OK until yesterday, all those experimental feature just suddenly dissapeared and now I cannot find any hint of it in Mi Home app. Do you get the same problem, the seller just said to me sometimes Xiaomi just turns off the function, I dont know whether it is correct or not.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi Rosie,
I'm testing a few other robot vacuums right now so I hid my 1C to the box and can't check it right now. But according to the Reddit post you are not alone, a lot of users said that the features disappeared recently. Perhaps Xiaomi turned off the features because they (the features) broke the robot for some users. As mentioned on Reddit, (for some users) the robot stopped working after updating the robot to the 3.5.8_1045 firmware and at the moment there is no way to restore it without replacing the motherboard of the device.

Ijam Ijamos ⋅ 4 years ago #

yes, me too. suddenly this map management disappears in Mi Home App. I chat with supplier, they said, wait for Xiaomi update this issue or firmware

Michael ⋅ 4 years ago #

Yes, the features are disabled now. They caused an issue with the robot which bricks the device for some users (proof here) and seems like Xiaomi disabled the experimental features until the issue will be fixed. So we should wait for the upcoming update with bug fixes.

Rosie ⋅ 4 years ago #

Is the Mijia 1c built by Roborock? It's building looks the same as the Xiaomi Roborock V1

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi Felipe. Yes, I believe the MiJia 1C is built by Roborock. Underneath it looks very similar to the first generation.

Guest ⋅ 4 years ago #

No, you misunderstood me. I stopped taking mi robot.
My house has a carpet in her room. However, carpets are not very big. There are lots of tiles and parquet. If my budget was hand, of course I would buy the roborok S5 model. But in this case, the best option is 350 S5. I am confused that this mijia 1c is working at 113 with the lowest power. 360 S5 runs at the lowest power for 90 minutes. I hope the 360 S5 clears more space during this time thanks to Lidar. Thanks to the member.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

When choosing between the Roborock S5 and 360 S5 I would go with the 350 because it's quieter and has full multimap support. Other than that, the Roborock works longer so is better for big houses. My place is average and the 360 S5's battery was enough to cover it all without having to resume but it depends on the mode you are using. On max mode, the robot couldn't clean my place and had to resume. On balanced, it was all fine considering that I had three carpets in my place.

If you have only one carpet, you can run the robot on Balanced mode, it will only boost suction on carpet thus saving battery life in the rooms with tiles and parquet. The MiJia lacks this option but has stronger suction so it's hard to say how much it is going to cover in your case. It finished my apartment without resumption even on Max mode.

Laura ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi, after reading this, I got interested in buying the 360 S5 beacuase of the multiple maps. The low battery capacity is holding me back. Would the Xiaomi 1S be a better choice? Aren't spare parts easier to find for Xiaomi and therefore the advantage of the 360 S5 (brush easier to clean and washable HEPA filter) isn't that important anymore?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

It depends on the cleaning area. My place is 65 sqm and both robots (Xiaomi MiJi1 1C and 360 S5) battery was enough to clean it even on balanced mode but on max mode, both had to resume. I haven't tested the Xiaomi MiJia 1S.

Speaking of maintaining, I've said it million times before, I like it when the brush is easy to clean so this makes a difference for me but if you don't have long hair, it might not be a problem for you. Also, both filters are washable.
You can find accessories for both robots on Gearbest and Aliexpress tho.

Which one is best for you? I would say, it depends on the size of your place and your needs.
Keep in mind that the 360 S5 doesn't mop, but the MiJia 1C does.

Laura ⋅ 4 years ago #

Thanks for your quick reply.
With my long hair I should opt for the 360 S5 ;-)
I have 3 floors, largest is 50 sqm, but they don't have to be done in one go. The battery will however be charged more often. I read somewhere that you have never replaced a battery so I hope for me the battery capacity will not be a problem either.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

I would go with the 360 S5 too :)
I think it should be enough to cover at least one floor on one charge. Depending on the cleaning mode again.
Yes, I have never replaced one. My main robot is the 360 S6. It's been about two years since I've had it and I haven't noticed any issues with the battery. Still works just fine, same battery life, etc.

Hope to hear from you when you get one :)

Guest ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hello. my budget is not too much. my house is medium size. I have to choose between mijia 1c, 360 s5 and first generation Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner models. which do you recommend? thanks.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hey there :) I personally would not recommend getting the Mi Robot (first generation), it is old, lacks some cool features such as washable filter and room cleaning. It also is not able to climb onto a medium-pile carpet and would only be suitable for low-pile carpets.

Depending on your needs. If you have pets or long hair, I would go with the 360 S5. It has a cleaning brush with detachable tips and only this thing buying the robot to me because I have long hair and it's a pain to remove the hair off the brush after every cleaning if the parts can not be removable :) The 360 S5 also has a more precious map, stores up to 10 which is good if you want to set a map with virtual walls (saying for mopping) and one without so you can switch between the two even if you live in a one-story house. It also allows interacting with the map by setting zoned cleaning and ordering the robot to go to a particular room/scheduled to work in a certain room. I personally think the 360 S5 is the best for the price if you are looking for a robot with Lidar and smart features.

The MiJia 1C is best if you don't want to spend more. It has a bigger electronic mopping container so it is better at mopping and stronger suction which is good for medium-pile carpets but in real life, you might not find the difference between the 360 S5 and MiJia 1C in terms of carpet cleaning. Both do a great job. Also, Lidar-guided robots are better for homes with more furniture but not as better as the MiJia to spend more only because of this factor.

I would say it depends on your surface, whether you will use the app as much or not, and consider the cleaning brush as well.

I would go for the 360 S5 because it has more features but at the same time the MiJia 1C is the best if you don't want to spend more and overall is a great robot vacuum to buy.

Does that help?

Guest ⋅ 4 years ago #

Thank you so much for such a long and detailed explanation. In line with your descriptions, I gave up buying Mi robot (first generation). There are carpets in every room in my house. But the carpets are not very big. There are lots of tiles and parquet. If my budget was hand, of course I would buy the roborok S5 model. But in this case, the best option is 350 S5. I'm just confused that this mijia 1c runs at 113 minutes at the lowest power. The 360 S5 runs 90 minutes at the lowest power. I hope that the 360 S5 is cleaning more space during this time thanks to Lidar. Thank you again. Happy Days.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Congrats on the purchase! Would love to hear about your experience with the Mi Robot :)

Rob ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hello! I’ve just bought this model and I wondered how you clean the hepa filter? Do you literally just put out it under running water until all of the dust has gone? How long does it take to dry? How do you remove the filter?

I imagine that the battery will eventually wear down; is it easy to replace the battery and where would I buy a spare one from?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi Rob. I wash the filter with water about once a month or so but I wouldn't recommend doing it as often anyway. You can try to wipe the dust out with a handheld (upright/traditional) vacuum which I normally do.
After washing I put it somewhere and let it dry out. Normally it takes a night or so. I can also use a hairdryer to make sure it is not wet since in your hand it seems to be dried out but the filter might still be damp.
To remove the filter, simply unclick it as easy as it is :)

I have never bought a new battery for any of my robot vacuums but I believe you can find it on Aliexpress sooner or later. Normally it doesn't take much to find a replacement for a Xiaomi and since the MiJia 1C is a new robot vacuum so far there is no battery on sale.

Adi ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi Natalie,

Many thanks for your detailed tips. Can you please confirm that when you are 360 S5 is same as Roborock 5S? We have a single storey home with young kids. The house is medium size with tiles and no carpets. My wife finds her hair everywhere though... the Mijia 1c is c. AUD225 cheaper than 5S. I am confused. I need strong suction with some mopping (i know we cant get a great mopping with these vaccums)... What would you recommend?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi there :) The Roborock S5 and 360 S5 do about the same job at mopping. Both have the same water container with no ability to adjust water output so I would say they are equal.

In terms of battery life, the Roborock lasts longer. The 360 S5 would give you about 110 minutes on the lowest power settings which might be enough for an average house depending on how much furniture you have and the size of your home.

The Roborock S5 tho has a solid brush which is hard to maintain, the 360 S5 has detachable side tips which would be essential for your wife's hair to get rid of. But you can easily replace the Roborock brush with a newer one that has detachable tips as well.

The MiJia 1C has about the same battery but lacks some smart features such as room cleaning, multimap, etc but it has an electronic water tank and overall a bit better at mopping.

All depends on whether you are going to use some smart features, the size of your house and whether a better cleaning brush makes a difference for you or not.

RS ⋅ 4 years ago #

Thanks again!
One last thing- I see that you also reviewed the ilife w400, but that robot doesn't seem to get a lot of comments.
Do you think either of these robots we'll wash the floor nearly as good as one of those?
I'm guessing that with a really dirty floor, the w400 probably cleans better, but maybe for maintenance, one of these my two as well because they require less pre-planning in that you can just put it on a schedule and let it vacuum and mop every night?
Do you have any thoughts on that?

Thank you!

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

The ILIFE W400 is a good mopping cleaner but it gets messy as well. It does not automatically return to the dock so you can't leave it on its own, you have to remove the attachments once the robot finishes mopping.
I would say for maintenance you don't even need an electric water tank but since we have the Xiaomi that is budget and has one, why not get one?
The best hybrid robots would be those that follow a Y-shaped path in mopping mode but the S5 Max is the best among those that move back-and-forth.
Answering your question, if you need a robot that would keep your floors clean in between manual mopping, I'd suggest buying a robot that also can sweep ie the Xiaomi 1C or Roborock S5 Max.

k ⋅ 4 years ago #

great review, thanks! Its been more than 3 months now, how is your experience so far? Would you still recommend?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Thank you. I still think the MiJia 1C is the best you can get for around $200. Someone in the comment section mentioned that the robot already has experimental virtual walls which would be mind-blowing considering the price.
I do not use it as much because I have other robots but I like that it receives updates regularly which is important for a robot vacuum.

So far I do not see a competitor to the Xiaomi MiJia 1C especially if it gets virtual walls.

RS ⋅ 4 years ago #

Thanks for the great review. Do you have any confirmation on whether this robot supports virtual walls?
Practically speaking, other than battery life and the LIDAR, what are the advantages of the (substantially) more expensive S5Max over this model.

Thanks!

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi there
As mentioned by Rolja in the comments above, some users already have an experimental option in the Mi Home app settings which activates no-go zones and map saving features. It looks like Xiaomi testing this feature right now and it will be released to the public soon.
As to the S5 Max vs. MiJia 1C. Aside from the LIDAR and battery life:
1. the Roborock builds an accurate map and has a more efficient navigating pattern;
2. the S5 Max allows customizing suction power and water leaking level settings for each room and this is the only robot in the industry that can do so;
3. when I tested the mopping feature, I figured that the Xiaomi saves water supply which means it can cover a bigger area with a full water tank but at the same time would not be as good at mopping as the Roborock;
4. you can't make the Xiaomi work in a particular room nor schedule it to clean a certain area too;
5. so far the Xiaomi is not compatible with Alexa or Google Home;
6. the Xiaomi does not save a map of the cleaning area, it creates a new one every time when cleans;
7. with the MiJia 1C you can't set to clean a particular area;
8. the S5 Max has carpet boost but it also has weaker suction so it might not make a big difference;
9. because of lacking Lidar, the Xiaomi is shorter which means it can get under most furniture;
10. the MiJia's cleaning brush does not have detachable side tips which make it harder to clean of clogged hair.

I would say the Roborock is better for those who have lots of furniture, live in a big house, have pets and want a more efficient robot vacuum;
the Xiaomi is a great vacuum for smaller places with carpets and some hard floor areas. If you don't want to spend more, the 1C is a great choice.

Best,
Natalie

RS ⋅ 4 years ago #

Amazing. Thank you so much for such a detailed reply (and so quick!)
You are terrific!

One other quick question. Can the Xiaomi mop a room with carpet in it? i.e. will it try to mop the carpet?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

With virtual walls available you can set them so the robot avoids the carpet. Since it is still in beta, you can not make the robot stop before carpet for now. The Roborock S5 Max has this option tho.

Rolja ⋅ 4 years, 1 month ago #

Now it as well saves map and you can add virtual walls. You need to enable experimental feature. Got it this week, very happy.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 1 month ago #

Wow! That's great news! Could you please tell me how to activate the experimental feature? Can't find it in the Mi Home settings.

hisham ⋅ 4 years ago #

i just found it, you have to change the region to china mainland to be available

Clo ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi! how do you change region pls? do you have to uninstall the app? I lost the experimental features and was so used to them!

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi,
open the Mi Home app --> Profile --> Settings --> Region.

Rolja ⋅ 4 years ago #

I got message on android phone that experimental feature testing period is over and this will come as official feature with April OTA update. Lets see if this will come through. Funny enough feature is no longer visible on android phone but was there on ipad.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Sounds cool! I hope they have fixed everything since the robot is really good. Having additional features for that price is nice :)

w ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

E2 of course! ;)

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

I haven't tested it myself and do not plan to get one. I might have a text comparison with the two though. They are equally similar, the Xiaowa tho has carpet boost but if you have many medium-pile carpets and/or a pet, I would recommend getting the Xiaomi. On low-pile, you won't see the difference between the two.

Bilal ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hello Natalie,

Thank you for your detail help and explanations.

We hve just bought a new 1C. Every comments were perfect however some problems we lived. We run 3 times up to now, and dont have a map yet (%60 up to now - need two more)

1. We located the dock station in the kitchen then started the clean when it reached the saloon (next to the kitchen) the wall btw sallon and kitchen disappeared :) so it thought that dock station in the saloon and try to make a hole on the wall to reach the dock and failed Same issue happened also othe rooms it combined some rooms too. Will it find the dock after mapping or do we need to change the dock station?

2. If we change the dock location, does mapping reset itself?

Thanks in advance

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 12 months ago #

Hi there, thank you :) I am not sure but I think it will not change the map if you move the dock.
When moving the dock, let it start from the dock and finish cleaning by automatically docking itself. Another thing is letting the robot work under a good light condition.

Maybe the robot needs to start creating the map from scratch.

it perceives separate rooms as a single room. When he turns to charge, he tries to find the charging stand from the common wall and cannot find it.

Try to change the dock location

Reşat ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hello All,

I have a question about map saving and setting up virtual zones and boundiries. I can’t do it :) I’ve selected China for my region. the latest firmware version I’ve got is 3.5.8_1035

what should be the firmware version for the map saving mode? help me please

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

Hi,
as mentioned by Michael in the comments below, Xiaomi disabled the experimental features a few days ago. Hope they will return it back in the next firmware update.

Reşat ⋅ 4 years ago #

I’ve bought the device on that day :( but I saw the comment now :/ I hope they will release a new update. thank you for your answer.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

I think they will fix it, no worries :)

Reşat ⋅ 4 years ago #

I hope so too :) I have a new question :D the device does not return to the dock until it goes on low battery. It continues to clean the same places over and over again. is this normal?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

It starts from the dock, builds a cleaning map and you can see it cleaning the same spots a few times?
Was the map already saved or it is a new one the robot creates as it cleans?

Reşat ⋅ 4 years ago #

hello, so sorry for my late reply. it creates a new map every time it starts cleaning. but it goes over and over again through same places after it finishes the whole house until the battery goes low to 15%. is this normal?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

It should create a map every time as it doesn't have the map saving feature yet (after that update had broken some users robots). When the experimental features are back again, it should save a map after cleaning.
Let's make it clear: you can see on the map that the robot goes to the same place twice?
Laser-guided robots are normally more accurate in terms of navigation, maybe your robot "thinks" it hasn't been here while it actually has.

Reşat ⋅ 4 years ago #

you can see on the map that the robot goes to the same place twice? -> yes

i think the mapping version update released again. the app forced me to update it but I didn’t yet :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

I know some users still have the experimental features but I don't know how well it works with the devices that are one update back. Maybe try to move the charging dock to a different place. I don't know how it can help with your problem tho but maybe the robot will behave differently.

One user just said he has updated to the last version and the device works fine so maybe try it too?

Reşat ⋅ 4 years ago #

I will try it :)

It seems that latest FW includes option to choose one of three water dripping levels. Do you plan to do full video review of 1C?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Yes, you are right, thank you for the great news! I am not sure about the video yet, maybe it will be a comparison with another robot, do you have any suggestions on what you want to see?

How does it compare to Xaiowa E2? Is its navigation any better? Does it cleanup the room faster?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Hi there, I've never used the Roborock Xiaowa E2, so hard to say for sure. As a brand, I would prefer Roborock over Xiaomi. Even though they are partners and Xiaomi is a major investor of Roborock, I like the Roborock customer service more. Also, I think Roborock is better in terms of further app and firmware updates. Regarding the features and specifications, the Roborock Xiaowa has longer battery life, carpet boost, roller brush with detachable side tips (much easier to remove tangled hair). The Xiaomi 1C uses a gyroscope and accelerometer for navigation (as well as the Xiaowa), but in addition, has a TOF sensor on the top. Not sure if it has more efficient navigation though. According to specifications, the Xiaomi has a stronger suction of 2,500 Pa, but I don't know if we can trust these numbers.

w ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Thank you for testing runtime on silent mode! It seems to be ~10mins/10% longer than E2. I guess that's because 1C runs battery down to 15% and E2 to 30%.

BTW. how to detach side tips of roller brush on E2?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Oh, I am sorry, during online research I realized, the Xiaowa E2 has the same old-style brushroll the Roborock S5 has, which means it does not have detachable side tips so they are identical with the Xiaomi 1C. Sorry for misleading you.

I assume the Xiaowa has more suction on low power than the Xiaomi does and in addition, the E2 has carpet boost which is more helpful on carpets tho do not save battery. I would say in terms of battery life efficiency, the Roborock is better.

Hi, on 4pda forum user claims that 1C runs 83mins in standard mode (until battery discharges down to 15%).

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

I haven't tested the robot in standard mode, I did so with low and high power settings and figured it can last up to about 40 and 113 minutes respectively.

w ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Hi, could you please update table with real runtimes? I guess the 40mins is for highest power and for other vacs runtimes are for lowest. It eems to support RECHARGE & RESUME and filter seems to be washable one (according to gearbest description). Thank you!

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

I will test it today. On high power settings, the Xiaomi 1C works for 40 minutes, going to run it on low power and tell you the results. You are right, the MiJia 1C resumes cleaning after recharging and the filter is washable too. I have changed the specifications.
Thanks :)

seemebreakthis ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hi Natalie,

Thanks very accurate review.

Except I still don't see recharge and resume mentioned in the review. I just bought a 1c and on high power it doesn't have enough charge to clean the entire place in one go. But with resume, it goes to the dock to recharge then later goes back and finishes the job. So it still works in larger places although the recharge takes quite a bit of time (at least 1 hour+ if I remember correctly)

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hi there, I have fixed the review.

Yes, I would not recommend the Xiaomi for big homes, it is better to use in small areas. Charging takes about 1 hour or so, yes. In high settings, the robot's battery drains faster than it finishes cleaning in my place too but I would not recommend getting it if your place is average/big, mostly about carpets because you would need to run it in high settings most of the time.

Other than that, the MiJia 1C is a great budget robot vacuum for smaller homes.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

So after running the Xiaomi MiJia 1C on low power, I figured it can do up to 113 minutes on one charge but it does not have enough suction to provide deep cleaning on carpet and would be more suitable for low-pile carpets and hard floors since it does not have carpet identification to boost suction on carpets (relate to low power settings).

Sébastien ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hello,
The Xiaomi Mijia 1C seems to be very interesting with the features it can offer for this low price. Nevertheless, it has a low battery capacity. We leave in a house of 2 floors of approximately 60sqm each, I am afraid the battery won't be enough. But if it has a function Recharge & Resume, therefore the low battery capacity should not be a blocking point for bigger surfaces, should it?
Also, I understand that the vacuum can't keep the map in memory. So how this Recharge & Resume can work then?
Or do you think that for us the Roborock 5S would be more suitable?
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hi, Sébastien
I would not recommend the Xiaomi 1C for a big multi-story house. Firstly, it does not have enough battery life and secondly, it will not be as efficient in a big house.
Recharging takes time, you will have to wait forever until the robot finishes cleaning the whole house. It does not save a map, it disappears once the robot finishes cleaning until it does not, you can see the map on your phone.
For a big house with more than one level I would suggest getting a laser or camera guided robot, the Roborock S5 sounds just fine in your case but it does not save more than one map either. You will have to move the robot manually upstairs/downstairs anyway every time so it can generate a new map.
Other than that, the S5 would be more suitable for your home than the Xiaomi 1C.

Hi, in the article where you compare different Xiaomi robots, it says this model can only sweep or mop at a time.
but in this article, you say it can do both at the same time.
Could you please confirm which one is true? Thanks.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Hi, Dean

Thank you for noticing, I have fixed the Xiaomi comparison. Yes, you are right, there was not much info about the 1C before the chart was done so I thought it has two separate containers that cannot be together at one cleaning cycle, but I was wrong. The Xiaomi 1C can do sweeping and mopping at the same time.

This robot works in the europe region. Small battery is bad.

Michael ⋅ 4 years, 3 months ago #

Thanks for your comment. I just checked the Mi Home app and now it is available in the European region. We were not able to find it when reviewed the robot but looks like Xiaomi added it to other regions recently.

Agree about the battery. For those who live in a small apartment, it should be enough, but for bigger houses, it is not suitable at all.
