Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra vs. Saros 10

The two premium robots share the same mopping system and a self-cleaning station. Other than stronger suction, there are extras that the Saros 10 has. Let's talk about them.

What's the difference

The two robots' main differences are in the self-cleaning station, better navigation and obstacle avoidance, and stronger suction.

Navigation technologies: RetractSence vs. LDS

The newest Saros retracts the LDS under the furniture.

Better obstacle avoidance: Reactive AI 3.0 vs. Reactive AI 2.0

The Saros utilizes front triple-structured light, an RGB camera, and Vertibeam technology to provide a wider obstacle avoidance view, thereby minimizing the risk of bumping into objects. The Edge doesn't have Vertibeam, making its obstacle avoidance not as advanced.

Mopping system: Vibrarise 4.0 vs Vibrarise 3.0

The Saros 10 creates extra pressure when it detects stubborn stains by lifting its omnidirectional wheel.

Self-cleaning base: RockDock Ultra 2.0 vs. RockDock Ultra

The advanced RockDock 2.0 uses hot water for water tank auto-fill, self-cleaning, and adjusts water temperature when washing the pad. It also leaves the mopping pad on the station in a vacuum-only mode.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is one of the flagship robots in the lineup. It features a sleek station that washes, dries the pad, fills the water tank, and has a detergent dispenser.

Best Value

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra

Sleek self-cleaning station

A cheaper alternative to a Saros

The mopping system is equipped with a vibrating mopping pad, a mopping wheel, and a side brush. The robot lifts each thing depending on the cleaning mode. With a detergent dispenser, water tank auto-fill, and self-cleaning base, mopping is almost maintenance-free.

Unlike Saros, the S8 MaxV Ultra has a standard LDS that doesn't retract, and its obstacle avoidance technology is not as advanced.

The S8 MaxV Ultra lifts the pad to 20 mm compared to the Saros (18 mm), which is better for medium-pile carpets.

The S8 MaxV Ultra is a premium robot vacuum with a nice advanced station

Roborock Saros 10 upgrades:

FlexiArm Riser side brush: after lifting, the side brush retracts to avoid collision with furniture. It is the new technology made for the Saros series.

SmartPlan 2.0: The Saros has more automation in using cleaning settings that were set before, cleaning the rooms that haven't been cleaned in a while, reducing suction power in the DND mode, etc. The robot learns the settings it uses to clean the house before and adapts them to the cleaning situation.

Upgraded station

Roborock Saros 10

Rich-featured station, the newest navigation technology

A different mopping system. Automated cleaning

The Saros 10's advanced mopping system:

  1. When it detects stains, it applies more pressure by lifting its Omni wheel
  2. Mops the floors with hot water
  3. Lifts and retracts the side brush to prevent collisions
  4. Better dirt detection
  5. Leaves the pad on the station when it's not needed

Unlike the S8 MaxV Ultra, the Saros adjusts mop washing temperature, fills the tank with hot water, and self-cleans with hot water too.

The robot has an adaptive lifting system that helps to cross higher barriers, freeing itself from tricky spots, etc.

Advanced object recognition and the newest RetractSence hide the tower when the robot goes under furniture, making the Saros 10 one of the thinnest on the market.

The Roborock Saros 10 is smart and adaptive to any cleaning envirovement

Which one to get?

The Roborock Saros 10 has more automation, advanced mopping, and an upgraded self-cleaning station. It is better in every way for both vacuuming carpets and more efficient mopping. The robot is smarter, more adaptive, and sets you free of adjusting cleaning settings for each room, etc.

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is a cheaper alternative. It has advanced navigation and obstacle avoidance, good mopping technology, and is suited for homes with carpets. If you don't need extra power for carpet cleaning, and you don't mind its limited (compared to a Saros) mopping functionality, the S8 MaxV Ultra is a great buy.
