Hi, the “map management” is greyed out. How do i activate “map management”

Chr Lydersen ⋅ 2 years, 7 months ago #

I have just received the 1c.
When I see the app from others, it looks different. I cannot manage rooms on my app.
Is this restricted to specific areas/countries?

m mustho ⋅ 2 years, 7 months ago #

The robot would need to scan/clean the whole apartment and complete the task on its own couple of times before the map will appear on the app. Also go to setting and enable experimental features.

Alvin ⋅ 3 years ago #

I just got my 1c.. can anyone advise can 1c scan multiple rooms with multiple maps? Seems like i can only see my main map after 1st scan, then when i put the robot into 2nd room it scans again and delete the earlier map. If so then why allow to create multiple rooms in the app whereas only allow to safe 1 map? Doesnt make sense...

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years ago #

If you take it to the first room, it would recreate the map again. The robot does not save two maps, it only supports saving one map.

Muhammed Mustharshid ⋅ 2 years, 11 months ago #

You should allow the robot to create one big map by leaving it to run through all rooms - that will solve the issue. This will not work if the rooms are in multiple floors.

Thanks Natalie. I hope "merge/divide" will be soon implemented. IMH the arbitrary (random) creation of areas makes this "functionality" just a unusable gimmick.
Does the map change overtime? Does it for instance an area color/definition change if I close the door?

Timbets ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

When I reseted the map it created a new map with areas, before that it was just one area.

David ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Does anyone know how the "areas" in the mapping are defined? How can I join or separate areas? I am not even able to rename them in the "map management" section.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 1 month ago #

Hi David, I can't find it either. Probably you can't do so. Maybe with the next update, we can merge/divide areas the way we want to.

Hi,

I have got my 1C for 2 weeks. First time I set a schedule cleaning, it was fine. Bot cleaned as the same map from the day before. After 2-3 cleanings, it started running only 1 square meter on the daily schedule mode. It works everyday as schedule, but always does 1 sqaure meter. How to fix this? How to resume automatic map? Thanks.

Michael ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

Hi, as suggested here in the comments, try to delete the map and create a new one. Probably the current map is distorted or something like that.

Sreenath ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi friends,

I just got my Mijia bot 1C delivered today.
I would like to get few things. Could you all expersta help to answer?
1)Does the bot need to run clean cycles many times before it saves a map? Because I don’t see a map management in the app home page. How long does one cycle end? I mean, will it stop by itself after mapping is over? it just randomly cleaned and while cleaning, battery got exhausted and it went back to charging station. After charging the cleaning was resumed but the map was reset.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Sreenath,

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C might need to do a few attempts before it completes the map. You can see it in the app, it will say the map is 100% complete. If your place is too big, the robot will clean for as long as its battery dies, then get back to recharge. Once the battery is charged, the robot continues cleaning from the same spot it left off and finishes the cleaning cycle. When the robot knows it has cleaned everywhere, then it returns to the dock and might say the map is complete. If the map is not 100% complete after the first run, you will have to let it work again until the map is built. Let the robot run a few times and see the map progress after that. Should create a map after that. Also, try to set it to low power settings so it does not drain the battery as fast.
Hope that helps.

Can it work in other areas (temporarily) without deleting the previously saved map?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Anastasia,
The robot will probably start creating a new map.

RavRud ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

it works in other areas (temporarily) without deleting the previously saved map

Sarav ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

yes it detects new area and works too

RavRud ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

No... It doesn't delete the first created map unless you reset that map specifically.

It never overwrites the map unless you reset the map in the settings

So u can have the map created for the floor which needs virtual walls etc. It will never be removed even if you take it to another floor. And in the other floor.. it treats it as a new area and therefore the virtual walls etc are not considered in that new area.

So u can easily use it on multiple floors. But only one floor u can save permanently (until you reset that map)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

I do not live in a two-story house so I never tested the multimap feature. Probably you are right about the robot starting a new map but not saving it. Thanks for clarifying :)

RavRud ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Ya. I have 2 floors and I need virtual walls and no-go zones only on the ground floor. First floor doesn't have such issues.

So it works well for me. Would have been a big issue if the above floor needed virtual walls. But luckily I don't.

Faiz ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

My robot already saved my first floor map & i already put virtual wall. My dock also at the first floor.

But i need to vacuum upstairs & i dont meed the robot to saved the map & dont need any virtual wall.

If i just bring the robot upstairs & turn it on upstairs, does it will saved my second floors & remove my first floor map?

Alvin ⋅ 3 years ago #

How come we cant save multiple floor maps? It means i cant create virtual wall on multiple floors...

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years ago #

The first floor map is saved and you can set no-go zones on it. If you place the robot upstairs, it would build the new map but if you don't want, the robot would not save it. After that, you can run the robot downstairs again and it would recreate the first map again. I didn't test it but I think it works this way.

RavRud ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Yes. Absolutely.

RavRud ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Yes. It does. I can confirm

Louise van Heerden ⋅ 3 years, 2 months ago #

Once your smart map is stored (make sure map saving is on under "experimental features") and your map is visible under "map management", you can move it anywhere and it will not override the map. I mapped my open plan living area, kitchen, dining room and scullery because I want to use zoned cleaning here. When I want to use it in the bedrooms or upstairs, i just carry it there and press start on the machine itself. It will not delete your "main" map under "map management". Hope this helps. Louise

Blabkabka ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Correction, it have zoned cleaning

Michael ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

Thank you for noticing! I've fixed the table.
