Roborock S7 vs. Xiaomi Vacuum Mop P

Hello, I am looking for a good quality vaccumming + mopping robot and three models caught my attention:

  1. Roborock S7
  2. Xiaomi Mi Robot-Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM)
  3. Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro+ (Mijia 1T, STYTJ02HZM)

First of all, I would like to understand the differences between the two Xiaomi models. I was unable to find detailed comparisons and reviews of the Mop 2 Pro+ model on the web. What is the reason for this? What are the key performance differences between them?

Secondly, I'd like to understand if it is really worth it to pay more than 2x the price and go for Roborock S7? What advantages does it have over the Xiaomi models?

If it matters: my home is mostly hardwood floor and tiles, with currently zero carpets and no pets.

Great, many thanks. I am going to go with the Mop 2 Pro+ then.

Hi marman, let's see how can I help you.

The difference between the two Xiaomi robots are:
1. Battery life. The 1T lasts longer (110 vs. 180 min) which means the 1T is better for bigger homes
2. The 1T has stronger suction (2,1000 vs. 3,000 Pa) which in real world usage only means (since you don't have carpets and pets) that the Mop P would struggle with picking up heavy debris like kitty litter or sand.
3. The mop P lacks a dToF sensor. The 1T recognizes small objects on the way and avoids them so, in cluttered homes, the one with object avoidance has more advanced navigation, it gets stuck on small things less.
4. The Mop P has a bigger dustbin (550 vs. 500 ml).
5. The 1T has a bigger water tank (200 vs. 250 ml).
6. Because of not having a tower with LDS on top, the 1T has a shorter body and can get under most furniture.

As to me, I haven't tested the 1T but I believe it should be better than the mop P because of many reasons. Besides, normally I recommend getting a robot that was released later as those devices age faster nowadays.

I've had the Mop P for more than a year and it only received one update. Compared to a Roborock that receives updates regularly, the Mop P leaves me a bit frustrated.

As to deciding between the Xiaomi and Roborock S7, I would say the last one is made for homes with a mixed surface. Yes, it does a good job mopping the floors but the mopping technology (ie lifting the pad on carpet and vibrating water tank) cost a dollar which you might not necessarily need to pay for considering that you don't have a carpet. But the robot is well-built and in my testing showed great cleaning results so it's totally worth every penny IF you need those extra features.

So my take is, get a Xiaomi. But it's for you to decide which one would suit your home better.

Hope that helps
Natalie
