How to choose the right Roborock?
Starting with home size and whether you need mopping or not. Another question is what kind of navigation/mapping is on point.
As to home size, all models have the same large battery that is enough to cover a 200 sq m (2152 sqft) area.
If you have to deal with lots of debris or have a pet, consider getting a model with a self-emptying station.
Roborock best models 2025
What is the S Series
The S series is the Roborock's top-line robots. The top-tier S8 has the things a user would want and even more. Those are the most expensive even though some Qrevo models can compete here too.
What is the Q Series
This is a series that includes a self-emptying base yet lacks the bells and whistles of the latest S series modifications like object recognition or mopping pad lift. It is a more affordable series with premium features for big homes and those who don't need extra things.
What is the Qrevo Series
Qrevo is the new high-end lineup with a different mopping system. It has some additional features compared to the S series yet it lacks some too.
How does the Roborock navigate? Mapping abilities
Roborock doesn't have any robot vacuum with a gyroscope or camera. All of these use LDS; some additionally have sensors that recognize objects to make navigation even more precise.
Roborock remembers up to 4 floor maps which make it ideal for multi-level houses
The best mopping Roborock
Since almost all models have a mopping feature, let's talk about the most efficient robots in the lineup. The Q series does not auto-wash itself and is equipped with either an electric or gravity-fed water tank. Both drag the mopping pad around the floor and don't wash the mop cloth during mopping.
So let's say, the S8+ or Q series is not the best for homes with hard floors only.
Have a look at the Qrevo series if you need a mopping robot
The S7 and S8 models that come with a self-cleaning station are better at this point. Those use a vibrating mopping pad (Sonic technology) which is better for stains and overall is a good thing if you want a mopping robot.
They also raise a mopping pad when the robot steps on carpet so it doesn't use as much water in this area.
The Qrevo series uses dual spinning mops and a FlexiArm design mop (some models). It also lifts the mops on carpet like the S8 series.
Another difference is the water container capacity. The high-end S7 and S8 series' station is equipped with a 4 L clean water container while the Qrevo series has a 5 L container whish is better for bigger homes.
4 l sounds enough but don't forget that your robot washes the mop after and during the mopping session so it uses enough water for one cleaning cycle and you would probably need to refill the container after every use.
So if you are looking for the best mopping robots, this would be any of the Qrevo series since those models have the biggest water container so you don't have to fill it after every use.
Is a Roborock good for carpet?
All models automatically boost suction on carpet which helps to save battery life. Also, those are powerful robot vacuums that vacuum low and medium-pile carpets easily. Another thing is climbing ability. Since most of them can climb up to 20 mm (0.8 in) obstacles, the robots can be used both on low and medium-pile carpets. The latest Qrevo robors step on up to 40 mm obstacle.
Robot vacuums are not suitable for high-pile or thick carpets. Better be using a standard vacuum cleaner for that.
Roborock app
For all robot vacuums, you can switch between modes, schedule the robot, start and stop cleaning, watch the cleaning history, manually control your robot like a radio car, upgrade the robot firmware, see when the accessories need to be replaced, etc. There is an option to track your robot vacuum in real-time. You can see the vacuum building a map and where it has been cleaned.
- Zoned cleaning orders the robot to clean within a specified area.
- No-Go Zones (virtual boundaries) keep the robot away from cluttered areas or areas where it can get stuck.
- No-Mop Zones help the robot to know where the carpets are so it can avoid them. They become inactive once the mopping attachments are removed.
The difference between the no-go and no-mop zones is that the no-go zones are stable while the no-mop zones activate only in mopping mode.
With Room cleaning, you can order the robot to go to a certain room or two if needed. The latest update brings the S series ability to divide the map into separate rooms. This allows scheduling the robot to work in specific rooms. Room cleaning is handy since some rooms need to be vacuumed more often.
Scheduling. You can set the time and day when the robot should clean, there is also an option of choosing cleaning mode but what is most important, you can set which room it has to clean.
Multi-Floor management. The Roborock saves up to 4 floor maps.
Interchangeable parts
Some parts of the Roborock robots can be interchangeable with other models. Those include:
- HEPA filter
- Main cleaning brush
- Side brush
- Cleaning brush cover
- Mopping cloth

Q Series
Q series is a budget lineup that covers all the things you crave in a robot vacuum but lacks some bells and whistles like the more expensive S-line does. It includes the Roborock Q5 (4 modifications), Q7 (2 modifications), and Q8.
The Q series does not have object recognition or rising mopping pad features, or even the famous Sonic vibrating mopping pad. Those are the affordable robots for users who want the Roborock's vacuum performance with a self-emptying base.
Roborock Q5 Pro+
Those models do not have a mopping feature except for the Roborock Q5 DuoRoller which uses a gravity-fed water tank with a switch so it is not as good as a mopping robot but is enough for daily chores.
Roborock Q5+ vs. Q5 Max+ vs. Q5 Pro+ vs. Q5 DuoRoller
The basic Q5+ has the shortest battery life and the smallest dustbin and is the only one that comes with the old-style bristle brush that is not suitable for long hair.
The Q5 Max+ and Q5 DuoRoller+ both have stronger suction, longer battery life, two roller brushes, and a bigger dustbin. It's not clear what is the main difference between the two. Probably, made for different markets.
The Q5 Pro+ is the only one in the lineup that has mopping. Other than that, there is no difference between it and the Q5 Max+ or Q5 DuoRoller+.
Q7 Series
The lineup includes a Q7 and Q7 Max+.
Roborock Q7+ vs. Q7 Max+
The Q7 Max+ has stronger suction, a bigger water tank, and better mopping technology. The Q7+ is impossible to find these days.
Roborock Q7 Max+
The Q7 Max+ has a bigger electric water compared to the Q5 Duoroller+; uses a single all-rubber brushroll and is not as powerful.
Roborock Q8 Max+
Roborock Q8 Max+
The best navigation in the series
Compared to the Q5 and Q7 series, the Q8 Max+ is powerful, and has an electric water tank, and DuoRoller technology which makes it the best in the series.
To sum up
The Q series is a budget lineup with a lot of power for vacuuming but is not equipped with a good mopping system so those models are good for homes covered with carpets or hard floors but only as a daily routine, not for some tough jobs like removing statins, etc.

S Series
The S series is a top-tier of the Roborock lineup. It has the richest features with the S8 series being the most expensive.
Roborock S5 Max
The Roborock S5 Max is the only one in the lineup that does not support a self-emptying base. A good thing for those who don't have pets or want a basic robot vacuum with a standard charging base.
Roborock S8+
The Roborock S8+ is something in between the budget Q series and the rich-featured S7 and S8 series with auto-cleaning stations. Compared to the S5 Max, the Roborock S8+ is a step up.
The Roborock S8+ has the Q series base with an auto-empty feature. The difference between it and the Q8 Max+ is Sonic vibration technology. The Roborock S8+ raises the pad on carpets and vibrates when mops, the Q8 Max doesn't have these features.
Roborock Q8+ vs. S8+
Mostly the difference would be in the water tank with the S8+ having a vibrating water tank that lifts on carpet and the Q8 having a basic electric water tank.If you are looking for a better mopping experience, consider getting the Roborock S8+, hovewer, it costs more than the Roborock Q8+.
Roborock S7 Max Ultra
Starting with the S7 series (except for the Roborock S8+), the Ultra models come with an upgraded self-cleaning station.
The Roborock S7 Max Ultra is the cheapest self-cleaning robot vacuum in the lineup. The model line includes a Roborock S7 Pro Ultra. The Pro version is made for Europe. The Roborock S7 Max Ultra is less powerful than the S8 series and lacks some things like intelligent dirt detection, auto detergent dispenser, or FlexiArm side brush.
However, you get a premium robot vacuum and save a couple of bucks if you don't need those extra things.
S8 Series
The Roborock S8+ is the most basic in the lineup and the S8 MaxV Ultra is the top-tier robot vacuum. Those are premium robots with exclusive features the others don't have.
Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most advanced model in the lineup. Compared to the S7 Max, this robot has more power, an advanced dual roller system, an upgraded wider VibraRise, and raises the brushes in mopping mode if needed.
The S8 Pro Ultra is a robot for homes with carpets and pets. It is the most advanced in terms of mopping and is ideal for those who are going to use a mopping feature every other time.
Roborock S8 Max Ultra
Starting with the S8 Max Ultra, some models have FlexiArm technology.
What is FlexiArm technology?
FlexiArm side brush technology automatically makes a side brush get closer to the wall and objects.
FlexiArm mopping pad extends the pad when going along the walls for better results.
Those are only presented in the newest models making the mopping experience even better.
Roborock S8 Max Ultra
Affordable with a self-cleaning base
The middle of the three. It has more power than the Pro version yet not as much as the MaxV Ultra. The most obvious difference between the two models (Max Ultra vs. MaxV Ultra) lies in the “V,” which stands for vision. The S8 MaxV Ultra features a front-mounted camera that aids in obstacle avoidance, while the S8 Max Ultra relies solely on structured light for this function.
If you are looking for better object avoidance experience, get the MaxV Ultra, yet the Roborock S8 Max Ultra is a reliable option
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vs. S8 Max Ultra vs. S8 MaxV Ultra
- Suction power
- Auto detergent dispenser
- FkexiArm side brush
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra has a lot of power but is the cheapest of the three. It lacks flexiarm technology, intelligent dirt detection, and an auto detergent dispenser.
The S8 Max and MaxV Ultra station has an auto detergent dispensing feature so the station will automatically dispense a certain proportion of detergent and mix it with clean water. The camera on the S8 MaxV also enables additional features. For example, it can identify stains that require extra attention during mopping and offers more pet-related functionalities, which we’ll discuss shortly.
Those two are similar in features, only the MaxV is more powerful and uses better object recognition technology compared to the S8 Max Ultra.

The Roborock Qrevo is something very new. It has a completely redesigned self-cleaning station and a different mopping system.
Unlike others, the Qrevo uses two rotating mopping pads instead of one and they don't vibrate. In mopping mode when steps on carpet, the robot lifts those up to 10 mm. Also, this Series uses one rubber roller (except for the Qrevo Master which uses two) and has FlexiArm technology.
The self-cleaning station would clean the pads, dry them out with hot air, auto-fill the water tank, and empty the dustbin on its own. The Roborock Qrevo Curv has a new station.

Roborock Qrevo vs. Qrevo S vs. Qrevo Pro vs. Qrevo Master vs. Qrevo MaxV
Each gen has stronger suction power starting with the Qrevo making the Qrevo Master the most powerful. All of them use a single brushroll except for the Master modification which uses two.
The Qrevo Pro, MaxV, and Master intelligently recognize dirty areas so they wash and vacuum it twice if needed. Also, those three extend a mopping pad to the wall in the mopping mode and only the Master modification also has the FlexiArm side brush.
Only the MaxV and Master raise the roller brush in vacuuming mode if there is a need to mop a spill.
So the Roborock Qrevo is the most basic model that has all the features but is not as powerful and lacks some extra things.
The Roborock Qrevo S is almost the same but has more power.
The Roborock Qrevo Pro automatically recognizes high-traffic areas to clean them better, additionally using the FlexiArm mop.
The Roborock Qrevo MaxV has brush lifting and an intelligent Voice Assistant.
The most powerful Qrevo Master is the smartest, extends a side brush along the walls and short objects, uses two roller brushes, and as a result is the most expensive in the series.
Roborock Qrevo Curv
Pet-friendly robot (Qrevo Slim, Qrevo Edge, and Qrevo Curv)
When operating, the robot detects a pet and stops; during cleanups takes pictures of your pet that you can download; allows video calling and talking to your pet in two-way voice chat.
Roborock Qrevo Slim
Roborock Qrevo Slim
Lidar's innovative technology for a shorter body
Has StarSight which is the newest mapping technology thanks to which the robot goes under most furniture. Knows the biggest amount of small objects to avoid. It uses the same Dual rollers and lacks the AdaptLift Chassis so it can't go under anything higher than 20 mm.
Roborock Qrevo Curv
The Roborock Qrevo Curv is the most powerful; has a new DuoDivide brushroll system and an upgraded auto-clean station. The Slim and Curv modifications have AdaptLift Chassis and climb up to 4 cm.
When the base washes the pads, you can choose wash mode, water temperature, and warm air drying duration
The Roborock Qrevo Curv might be the most advanced in the whole lineup.
To sum up
The Qrevo series is close to the S8 series. With premium features, the S8 lineup is a better vaccuming robot, and the Qrevo is a great vacuuming robot with good mopping experience
