Dreame has been producing robot vacuums as well as cordless vacuums since 2015. I have tested three robots in the lineup and must say they left me very impressed. Good quality, better than average cleaning performance on par with advanced navigation. Which Dreame robot vacuum are you looking for?
The Lidar-guided robots are more gentle with objects making navigation smoother.
Object recognition technology is useful in homes with pet bowls which I've noticed being pushed by Lidar robots if they do not have one. The same with shoes and slippers, a robot like the L10 Pro and Z10 Pro would go around the shoes when others might drag them around the room.
Self-washing station
Dreame made an auto-maintenance station with the following features:
- Auto-empty. Sucks the dustbin's content into the disposable bag.
- Auto-fill water & detergent. Fills the water tank. The latest models come with a detergent container to supply it to the water tank.
- Auto-wash the mopping pads and washboard. Older models do not wash the washboard and wash the pads with cold water. The latest do so with hot water.
- Drying the mopping pads. The mopping pads are getting dried with hot water after mopping.
Depending on the model, the base station has advanced features. Also, the X series has a redesigned compact station and a detergent tank compatible with any detergent.
Connectivity
Each Dreame can be controlled via the app connected through WiFi. None has a remote control.
App features
The robots have all the features you want in a modern smart robot. Like No-go zones, zoned cleaning, and room cleaning that are common for all models. There is also scheduling, cleaning sequence, maintenance information, and other options.
- Zoned cleaning and room cleaning are area cleaning. You can send the robot to clean a particular room or a zone.
- No-go zones keep the robot off certain areas like pet bowls or cluttered areas.
- Water level and suction power can be switched in the app too.
- The later models support saving multiple maps and allow setting no-mop zones. No-mop zones are active only with a mopping attachment on and made for avoiding carpets when the robot mops the floors while no-go zones keep the robot off particular areas altogether.
- Also, scheduling might have additional features in the latest models.
How good is mopping
The Dreame robots include a water tank in the box and can do vacuuming and mopping. All of them have an electric water tank that has a pump so you can control the water flow level in the app.
The D9 Max and L10 Pro have a very similar mopping system, so these four do the same job as a mop.
The L and X series have a double mopping pad system that rotates in opposite directions for better mopping performance. Additionally, some latest models extend and lift a side sweeper, brushroll, or mops for better mopping performance.
The latest models have a bunch of sensors that recognize how dirty the mops are and send the robot to rewash the mops.
Mop Removal
When the robot needs to vacuum a carpet, it automatically removes the mopping pads and leaves them on the station.
RoboSwing & Mop extend
The mop extends along the walls and corners and goes straight.
The RoboSwing & Mop extend (the X series) swings the robot when extends the mop getting deeper for better mopping results.
Dreame D9 Max
The Dreame D9 Max is the cheaper model in the lineup. It has a big battery and saves more than one map which makes it suitable for multi-level houses.
Navigation is advanced yet it doesn't see small objects the way its siblings do. Suitable for big homes with hard floors.

Mopping robot vacuum
The Dreame D10 Plus is navigated by Lidar and has strong suction yet lacks a front sensor for object recognition and includes a smaller disposable bag. Not suitable for those who want a mopping robot that also vacuums as it has a small water tank that can not cover a big hard floor area. The robot is better used in homes with a mostly carpeted surface and some hard floor area. This is a great value if you don't need extras like object recognition but still want a robot vacuum that empties itself.

The Dreame L10s Pro Gen2 vs. L10s Pro vs. L10s Ultra vs. L10s Pro Ultra
The L10s Pro Gen2 is the cheapest with no self-emptying station. It has all the same features as the L10s Pro but comes with a standard charging base in the box.
The Dreame L10s Pro's station is simpler with no auto-wash function.
The Dreame L10s Ultra is not as powerful as the L10 Pro Ultra and doesn't have mop extend or hot water washing.

The L series has lots of the same features. The difference is power, hot water wash, side sweeper extend, and dirt detection. Depending on suction and a number of smart features, you can get the model that would suit your home.
X Series
The X series has two modifications, the X30 Ultra and X40 Ultra. You can use any detergent with the X series while the L series strictly belong to Dreame's detergent.
The difference between the L and X series is:
- The X has smaller station
- The X has RoboSwing&mop extend technology
- Smaller dustbin (300 vs. 350 ml)
- A different station and detergent container design.
As to the difference between the X30 Ultra and X40 Ultra, the latest extends and lifts a side sweeper for cleaning corners. A hotter temperature of mop washing and the X40 Ultra has more power.

Which one is the best?
The choice can be made based on a few things like budget, and your personal needs. I have to say that all of them do the job of picking up debris on hard floors and carpets.
For $300 you get a great robot vacuum, the D9 that doesn’t have a 3D sensor yet is capable of carpet and hard floor cleaning and overall a great choice for those who don’t need newer technologies. The same goes for the D9 Max.
Those who are looking for a self-emptying robot but don't want to pay more for extra features have a look at the Dreame D10 Plus. A great robot vacuum is for homes with a carpeted surface mostly or those who don't need a mopping function that much since the robot's mopping is not suitable for big hard floor areas.
The Dreame L10 Pro Ultra is the best for all kinds of surfaces. It is almost maintenance-free, [powerful, smart has the same features is cheaper than its competitors.
The Dreame L40 Ultra is a premium robot vacuum with a bigger station for those who want a good quality robot and don't need extras.
The Dreame X40 Ultra is the best of the best for those who want it all. It reaches edges and corners, has a smaller station, compatible with any detergent, and has lots of power for cleaning carpets and pet hair.
