The Dreame D series is the basic lineup that lacks mop washing and self-cleaning features. However, it has a lower price tag and some basic features for a small home.

The D series features a basic self-emptying station and a mopping system that combines a water tank with a single pad. The D series is not suitable for deep carpet cleaning but is a good vacuum for hard floors and surface cleaning.
The mopping system is the most basic technology, which is an electric water tank that supplies water to the mopping pad.
The D9 Max Gen 2 is the only robot that does not have a self-emptying station. The only reason to go with it is if you don't have more space for a taller station, since there is a small difference in price between it and the D10 Plus Gen2, which comes with a station.
The D10 Plus Gen 2 is similar to the D9 Max Gen 2, but it has a smaller water tank.
Suitable for a small apartment and pet owners
Best value
Upgrades over the D10 Plus Gen 2:
- Side brush extension around obstacles
- More power
- The dual roller system provides better pick-up performance
- Larger water tank
It is the best model in the D series with strong suction, a bigger mopping area, and the new dual roller system.
For bigger homes with carpets and some hard floor areas
Note that the D series' mopping is for the daily routine; it would not clean the stains or do a good job. The D series is a great buy for hard floors or to keep the floors clean daily. For anything bigger, better get the L series.
The Dreame D20 Plus vs. D20 Pro Plus
The Dreame D20 Pro Plus has a smaller disposable bag (3L vs. 5L), yet it extends a side brush, which the D20 Plus lacks. The D20 Pro Plus automatically boosts suction when stepping on carpets.
- Flex Arm vacuuming (side brush extend)
- Carpet boost
The price difference isn't much, so I would recommend going with the D20 Pro Plus.
The best
The Dreame D30 Ultra is the new flagship of Dreame's "D-series," which traditionally represents their more accessible, value-oriented line.
Upgrades over the previous gen:
- Self-cleaning station that washes and dries the mops
- Stronger suction for carpets and pet owners
- Better obstacle avoidance
- Liftable mopping pads
Dreame has blurred the lines between its budget and premium models by packing them with flagship specs like 25,000 Pa suction and a fully automated base station.
It is essentially the mid-range king of 2026
Hands-Off Station: The "Ultra" in its name refers to the base station. It doesn't just empty the dust; it washes the mop pads with hot water and dries them with hot air to prevent mold and odors.
How it Fits in the 2026 Lineup:
Vs. L60 Pro Ultra: The L60 Pro Ultra is significantly more powerful (35,000 Pa) and has the ProLeap™ system to climb massive 88mm steps. Choose the L60 if you have high thresholds or want the absolute maximum suction.
Vs. D20 Pro Plus: The D20 Pro Plus is the step-down. It has lower suction (13,000 Pa) and uses a standard plate mop rather than the rotating dual-mop system found on the D30 Ultra.
Summing up
The D series is a budget lineup made for a small home and daily routine. It does not perform the best or have the strong suction of the premium X series, ot its advanced self-cleaning station. However, it is a budget option that still shines for under $300.
Editor's choice: Dreame D30 Ultra
The Dreame D30 Ultra is for the person who wants 90% of a flagship's performance—including the edge-mopping and self-cleaning dock without paying the "premium tax" for experimental features like climbing legs or retractable LiDAR.
