Hello everyone.
I have it from half january, it has been wonderful until....side brush motor stop working, and the robot doesn't work, telling to clean the side brush. So it's unusable, and this already happened to few people. I'm waiting for answer from Dreame. If somebody wants to join with the same problem...I'll let know.
Hi Natalie,
I'm trying to make a decision Roborock S5Max vs 360 S9 vs Dreame D9.
I already have S5 Max for the ground floor where it's mostly hard floor, so I appreciate the mopping a lot, now I need one for the 1st floor, where I have a lot of carpets, thus I look at the suction power which Dreame D9 looks the best - but is it actually like that in reality? That would make it a lot better than Roborock or 360, but it' difficult to believe that looking at the Rated power of it which is the lowest. I can imagine it has some different technology, but... does it? :) Or is it just a marketing?
Also, besides Roborock S7 (which is still not really released?), is there any robot out there that can, at one go, vacuum the carpets and mop the hard floors without the need to remove the water tank?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Hi Michal,
So if you already have the S5 Max maybe get something else as a second robot? I would even do so to compare the two out of curiosity.
The S9 is more advanced (IMHO), it alerts when the water tank is empty which I've never seen in other robots. It also includes more accessories. The S9 has an ultrasonic sensor and it would bump into things less than the Dreame. Overall build quality is a bit better too.
As to the Roborock S7 and its features, there is one robot which name I don't remember that lifts up the mopping cloth but it doesn't do good on carpets and overall is meh.
The Dreame tho is a good value for the price, maybe the best one on the market in its price range.
Does that help?
Well, not sure I should decide basing on my curiosity, because I'd have to buy like 10 robots then which I'm curious about ;)
From what you wrote I'm still confused TBH, so let me put it like that - what I'm looking for is the best performance in deep cleaning for mid-pile carpets. Looking around different review sites, it appears that it's the S5Max that would do the job - I also even tested it by bringing it upstairs and it went really well. Then I spotted that Dreame D9 with 3000Pa declared suction power which made me think that it might be even better, but again, I'm not sure if that number is just a number and actual cleaning results on carpets are better than S5Max - would you have such info? I'd also suppose that the shape and built of brush would matter here too.
Concluding, I'm quite keen on getting another S5Max, however just wanted to ensure that it's the best option for me or maybe the other 2 would be better
Haha good one :)
In my experience, all three have equally the same cleaning performance. If you run it every other day, you wouldn't notice the difference between all.
I might make a test between them all but it would not be in the near future.
As a name, customer service, navigation, etc., I prefer a Roborock. In fact, my main robot vacuum is a Roborock too.
So if you keen on getting another S5 Max, go for it :)
Nice. In addition to multifloor, what is the main difference between S5 Max for such a lower score?
The Dreame D9 lacks the multi-mapping feature, doesn't support magnetic boundary tape and Google Home voice commands. Also, robot vacuums from well-known brands get from 5 to 15 additional points as mentioned in this post. Dreame is a new brand, but I think we can add it to the list so it got a few additional points.
Thanks for the quick and enlightening comment. Does the tape require an additional sensor or is it a software issue? Can we say that it is very similar to an S5 Max?
I bought one and before the firmware update I had the problem of dock location and map rotation. During navigation, when making the first pass, the robot draws the boundaries of the room and before making vertical passages and during this first action, I find that it hits a lot with the furniture and walls. My question is, is this a limitation of laser robots and does the S5 Max do it too? Thank you very much for the quick clarifications!
Not sure, but I think it requires an additional sensor. Anyway, the robot has no-go zones and no-go lines in the app, so I don't think that someone will use the magnetic types. I didn't notice the D9 bumping too much into furniture. Any chances you have black/dark furniture? Lidar robots sometimes can't detect dark objects that don't reflect the laser beam from the Lidar. I didn't test the robot after the update, maybe they changed something. Did it work well before the update?
Thank you very much. Did you use the latest firmware 1072?
Yes, I'm on the latest firmware version currently :)
Will there be a review and an updated score?
Hi Jorge, the hands-on review is on the way :) Probably will be on today or tomorrow
