360 S9 Review: A Powerful Robot Vacuum For Multi-Level Houses

Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. is a Chinese internet security company that is well known in China thanks to its antivirus software and smart security IoT devices. For the past few years, they started developing robot vacuums as well. I had already reviewed and tested their robot vacuums, such as 360 S5, S6, and S7 and I like these models a lot since for the affordable price they can give you the same features as more expensive iRobot, Neato, Ecovacs, and Roborock products. I am excited to see what the company brings with the newest product, 360 S9 which should be available on the market until the end of March. I love the other models and actually the older 360 S6 model is my main robot that been vacuuming my floors for over 2 years already.

All 360 robot vacuums use Lidar to build a map of the cleaning area. They all have a lot of smart features and pretty good build quality but cost less than most competitors with similar features. Let’s see what the 360 S9 offers and what has been improved over the previous models.

The robot has contacts that help it to dock itself to recharge.

There are also two types of plugs.

It is the first robot in the model line that has a remote controller in the box. I like the way it looks, nothing like I used to see in different robots.

There is also a cute surprise in the box everyone might like.

Cute eyes

When opening the lid, I see two containers and this is rare. Normally the water tank is visible or can be attached separately but the 360 S9 is nothing like its brothers or other robots on the market. The water tank is electronic, it adjusts water supply depending on cleaning tasks. It also comes with mopping attachments (mopping pad and two microfiber cloths).

Under the lid

The dustbin stores a washable HEPA filter and also a cleaning tool. Surprising, huh?

How the 360 S9 Navigates

The 360 S9 has a Lidar (laser distance sensor) on top that helps to create a high-precise map based on the surroundings of the floors. The created map helps the robot to understand where it should clean and where it has already cleaned. The robot calculates the most efficient way of cleaning in real-time thanks to the powerful processor inside the device which helps to save more battery and cover larger areas on one charge. The robot navigates following a back-and-forth path methodically covering the whole cleaning area.

On the tower, there is a laser pressure sensor. When pressing it, the robot moves backward. This is designed for the robot to escape itself when the sensor bumps into furniture such as an area under the bed where it can’t fit, etc.

The 360 S9 uses 24 built-in sensors which help to navigate around obstacles, keep it from bumping into furniture, and falling off stairs.

The wall sensor keeps the robot at a distance when it cleans next to the wall

Once the robot finishes cleaning and creates a map, it divides it into separate rooms. You can divide or merge the rooms you want it. It was nearly perfect in my case and the 360 S9 recognized the rooms better than the latest Xiaomi MiJia STYJ02YM.

Is the 360 S9 suitable for carpets?

This is going to be the most powerful robot from the 360 family. By having 2,200 Pa, the S9 should be capable of deep carpet cleaning. All the previous 360 models I tested showed great cleaning performance on a low pile and middle-pile carpets and I think this model will show even better results. As well as predecessors, the 360 S9 has carpet boost function which means it automatically increases suction power when detecting carpet. The carpet boost feature should be turned on in the app.

Another new cool feature is the collision protection mode. The robot is gentle to your furniture but with this mode on it stays away from chair legs, bed, etc without bumping into things.

How well the 360 S9 performs on carpet?

When running the robot on a medium-pile carpet (20 mm / 0.79 inches thick), I noticed that it struggles to move a bit, it is not as smooth as the previous models. However, I think it is because of stronger suction, the robot gets closer to the carpet and that’s why it seems to be struggling on one. In the end, it shows great results on carpets.

When testing its pick up ability, I scattered 100 grams of some oats, rice, beans, and quinoa. I tested the robot twice, the first time it picked up 100% of it, the second time it managed to catch 96% of it which is much better than average for a robot vacuum.

Carpet boost works accurate allowing the robot to get deeper cleaning on a carpeted surface.

I should also say that for such strong suction, the robot works quieter than most robots on the market which is nice. The noise is smooth and easy-to-the-ear.

Overall I would say the 360 S9 is one of the best robots on the market that can handle a low and medium-pile carpet.

Battery capacity & for how long the robot can clean

Inside the robot, there is a built-in 5,200 mAh battery. This is one of the biggest batteries on the market and only a few high-end devices from other manufacturers equipped with an equivalent battery. The large battery provides up to 180 minutes of cleaning time and if you live in a really big house that can’t be cleaned on one charge, the robot will automatically recharge and continue cleaning to finish the job.

App and smart features

The 360Smart app (available for iOS and Android phones) contents a lot of smart features including multimap support, no-go zones, selective room cleaning, zoned cleaning, etc. For example, you can order the robot to directly clean the kitchen or living room, go vacuum a particularly messy area, set where the machine should not go or send it to clean a high-traffic spot.

The S9 also has an RF omnidirectional remote control so you can use it instead of the app for some basic things such as start/stop, return to the dock, manual control, and suction adjust functions.

After the first run, the robot creates a complete map of your house, divides it into sections (rooms) for easier cleaning (scheduling) a specific room further.

Room cleaning: order the robot to clean a particular room or a few that are the messier.

Room-in-sequence: allows you to set which room to clean first. For example, start with the kitchen which normally needs more cleaning and then order which room to clean next.

Prioritize which room to clean first
Prioritize which room to clean first

When choosing mop mode the suction will be shut off. In this mode, you can also set mopping off-limit areas to keep the robot off carpets. When the mopping attached are off these areas become inactive.

Off-limit area: keeps the robot from going to some areas where it can get stuck or where you don’t want it to go.

Spot cleaning: cleans a small 1.5x1.5 area, for example, you can use it to clean a messy spot.

Zoned cleaning
Order the 360 S9 to clean a specific area

Deep cleaning: by setting a zone, you can specify to clean it twice to provide better cleaning.

Schedule: set the time and days when the robot vacuum cleaner should automatically start cleaning.

When setting schedules, you can choose whether the robot will only be mopping or sweeping and mopping at once. You can set cleaning mode too.

The only thing that is missing (in my opinion) is you can not choose the water dripping level. I believe it will take the one that was set on default before.

When choosing the area you want the robot to clean you can order it to clean the whole house, select area cleaning (zoned cleaning), and specified room cleaning.

The whole-house cleaning is when the robot cleans your house without missing a room.

Select area cleaning means you can draw a zone on the map you want the robot to clean. Saying you have some areas that get dirtier than others and you want it to be cleaned more often.

Specified room cleaning is when you order the machine to clean a kitchen and bedroom at once. A handy feature if you don’t need the whole house cleaning.

Mopping off-limit area: when the water tank and mopping pad are attached, you can draw a rectangle on the map in places where your carpets are located to prevent the robot from going on carpets when mopping. When the attachments are removed these areas become inactive.

Multi-floor map management: the robot saves up to 10 different floor maps which makes it suitable for multi-level houses. You can set your favorite map which will not be deleted or replaced, or use the downstairs or upstairs map depending on the robot's location.

All the smart features of the 360 S6Pro
All the smart features of the 360 S9

Wet Mopping function

The 360 S9 has a mopping ability. It is equipped with a water tank that is big enough to mop up to 100 minutes before it needs to be refilled again. There is electric pomp inside the robot which controls the water dripping speed. You can also choose the water dripping level in the app depending on your needs (three modes available).

According to the 360Smart app, depending on the water level the robot can cover:

  • Low water output up to 200 square meters (2152 sqft).
  • Medium water output up to 140 square meters (1506 sqft).
  • High water output up to 90 square meters (968 sqft).

The electronic water containers are more useful in my opinion. You can set the amount of water dripping (I normally set the highest level) instead of water just running out to the mopping cloth. You can also change the water dripping level depending on the room. The kitchen normally needs more while for the bedroom you can set it to a minimum.

Water tank
Large water tank with electric water dripping control
Mopping attachments
Mopping pad & two cleaning cloths

The water tank is placed inside the machine under the lid next to the dustbin which is surprising. I have never seen a robot vacuum to have two containers under the lid at once. Attaching and removing the mopping pad is very convenient, slide it underneath until it clicks.

To start mopping, you have to fill the container with water, attach the pad with a cloth on, set water dripping level, and let it go.

The container is electronic which means it supplies water right to the mopping pad. Also in mopping mode, you can set no-mop zones so the robot will avoid carpets.

360 S9 restricted areas
The robot supports sweep off-limit area to avoid some zones and mop off-limit area to avoid carpets in mopping mode

During our tests, the robot was able to remove stains but those weren't stubborn. On high water output and a full water container, the 360 S9 can mop for about 44 minutes covering 45 square meters (484 sqft). When the container is empty, the robot alerts that it needs to be refilled and this is the first robot I have tested that actually alerts in mopping mode.

Keep in mind, the mopping option is not going to replace manual mopping but it is a great feature to have if you want to keep hard floors clean as long as possible.

The robot can do vacuuming, mopping, vacuuming and mopping so you can turn on/off suction when needed.

Which 360 robot vacuum to buy?

The 360 S6 is the oldest model. It also has the mopping function but the suction power is weaker (1,600Pa) and it lucks of some smart features (room recognition, water level control, custom no-mop zones). If you have a small area of hard floors to mop and low-pile carpets/rugs only, the 360 S6 would be a good choice as it is one the cheapest among others.

The 360 S5 does not have the mopping function but it is more powerful than the 360 S6. It performs great on medium-pile carpets, has a better climbing ability and handles pet hair pretty well. For under $300 you get a robot vacuum cleaner that is capable of cleaning medium-pile carpets, and has all the smart features such as room recognition and selective room cleaning, no-go zones, zoned cleaning, etc. It doesn’t have competitors on the market in this price range. Not suitable for bigger homes though because of the small battery.

The 360 S7 is as good as the S5 but in addition, it has a longer battery life and mopping function. If you live in an average house with medium-pile carpets, need a robot that will also mop hard floors and have smart features, consider getting the 360 S7.

The latest 360 S9 is an improved version of all the previous models. It is ideal for big multi-level houses covered in low and medium-pile carpets. It would also be perfect for pet owners. With a big water tank, it can cover a large area in mopping mode. If you want a premium robot vacuum for a reasonable price, go with the 360 S9.

Where to buy

The 360 S9 is already available to buy on Amazon for $449.99.

To sum up

I have tested all robots from the company and I also have always been a fan of these. The 360 S9 is the best among the family with stronger suction and the ability to clean carpets.

The app got better and became more intuitive which I like. And if I am being honest, the 360Smart app is one of the best on the market. Easy access to the most important features, minimalist design, and no bugs. Real-time tracking is smooth with no delay and overall using the app leaves good impressions.

Overall the 360 S9 is much better than average robot cleaners by having the strongest suction and performing as good on carpet as it does on hard floors.

If you are living in a big house and looking for a decent robot vacuum that can vacuum it, have a look at the 360 S9.

If you have pets, go with the robot as it has an easy-to-clean brush with detachable tips. As a long-haired person, I appreciate it so much.

If you have some hard floor area to mop, the S9 will do the job for you.

If you have some furniture you don’t want a robot to break, the 360 S9 is extra gentle, it keeps a distance and never bumps into things when sensors recognize one. Also, virtual boundaries help in cluttered homes.

I would recommend the 360 S9 to anyone who is looking for an efficient and powerful robot vacuum that is also quiet when working which might be a big deal for someone since I am a big fan of these robots that are powerful yet not as loud as other models on the market.

Hi there Natalie
Can I get a suggestion? I have an all tile, cluttered and small home where mopping is my main objective. Can you tell me which robovacs mop in a Y pattern in addition to the Xiomi one please? I would like to get one that can maintain my floors clean every day.

The other issue is that vacuuming is also very important as we have a new kitten that likes to spread it’s cat litter outside the box.

After years of wanting one, I finally decided to get one and purchased a Shark Ion with Artificial Intelligence. We have many toys for grandkids and pets and that would avoid obstacles on its path with the camera. Only had it for a few days and it was a huge disappointment. I will say this, it was good about avoiding small obstacles in the floor, but was constantly bumping into furniture and getting tangled with cables or stuck between chairs. It was great getting hair, but just kept scattering the kitty litter instead of picking it up. Didn’t even try the mopping feature. Just returned it.

What can you recommend mid price range that would work well for both?
I could compromise in other features, but need those 2 and no zone selection.

Also, what do you think about all those brands that are cheaper knockoff‘s but with great reviews? Many have the same specs as the known brands you review here. These are sold and reviewed by Amazon shoppers that unfortunately I don’t trust anymore, so I go searching for reviews outside but those brands don’t have any. I suppose a risk would be any service needed after the sale could be an issue for those unknown companies, but if that weren’t the case, what do you think? I would think many of them may be done by the same big name companies, under another brand name…

Lastly, that’s possibly the case for
Everybot Edge. Do you know that product? Looked at Bissell and not great reviews for the spinner robot mop. The iRobot mop large one looks great, but it’s almost $400. So looking for another option.

I love your reviews. Have spent all day reading all of them and there are so many choices. So here’s a challenge for you… Prefer to find what I was originally, great mopping and pickup of debris on tile in 1 machine for around $500! Is there such a thing???

I have a feeling if someone can find it that would be you! I look forward to your suggestion(s).

Hi there, Lourey, thank you for your kind words!

Hi there Natalie
Can I get a suggestion? I have an all tile, cluttered and small home where mopping is my main objective. Can you tell me which robovacs mop in a Y pattern in addition to the Xiomi one please? I would like to get one that can maintain my So, after all, I've read what can I say... I can't recommend you anything with the Y-shape mopping path as I only tested one robot and I don't like the way it vacuums. If you are looking for a self-emptying robot, I am currently testing a yeedi vac station and should say it does the best. As a cleaning performer, the robot is amazingly good! It supports no-go zones, and has a powerful self-emptying base. I also love the way it mops, my floors look shiny after it. It does the best with kitty litter my cat tends to scatter around. The only concern is mapping, it is not as efficient as Lidar but if you set no-go zones in the cluttered areas, it would go just fine.

And I have to say that there is no robot vacuum that would not get stuck on cords and toys, so you will have to pick things off the floor anyways.

Another robot that might be okay is the Xiaomi MiJia 1C but it is not as good as a mop as the yeedi. By the way, if you don't need the yeedi's station, there is a yeedi vac max. It does not come with a self-emptying base but has mopping. Tho you can get the base separately if you feel like need one.

For now, I don't know which robot vacuum to recommend that would do both and have no-go zones.floors clean every day.

I didn't test other robots than the Xiaomi with a Y-shape mopping so I can't recommend you any of these. Since your home is small and cluttered, I would suggest getting something that has mapping. A big battery is not a reason to get something expensive, we can go with something that lasts less on one charge.

The other issue is that vacuuming is also very important as we have a new kitten that likes to spread it’s cat litter outside the box.

I would say the Xiaomi Mop P is not a good vacuum. It does the job but I do not recommend it as a vacuum. I don't have an example of the robots that are either good at mopping as well as vacuuming. Normally you have to trade something off or the whole experience with both optiona can be a bit more convenient.

After years of wanting one, I finally decided to get one and purchased a Shark Ion with Artificial Intelligence. Some brands are good but might not have the best customer service and for some users, it's a big con. Like you might not find replacement parts, or the warranty does not cover many cases. If that does not bother you, there are some good products to go for.

Ok, great. I plan to keep it (either the 360 S9 or the Roborock 7) on the first floor on its base. When I move it upstairs to the area with 700sq and is much cleaner I would put it on low clean so it would not need so much water nor power for vacuuming.
I think it will clean fine when it is fully charged.
Based on that info, do I also need to move the base upstairs?
1. What haopens to each 360 S9 and the Roborock 7 when it completes the vacuuming and mopping ? Do they shut down until I retrieve it and bring it downstairs to place it back on the base or does it cause a problem looking for it. Do I need to bring the base upstairs to avoid a problem?

Does the 360 S9 vacuum & Mop simultaneously Luke the Roborock 7?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Yes, the 360 S9 vacuums & mops simultaneously too. The Roborock S7 shuts down when finishing cleaning so you don't have to bring the dock upstairs. Just remove the mopping cloth (if one is attached) and get it back to the dock manually. I am not sure about the S9 tho but I believe it behaves the same way too. My apartment is small and I never had a chance to test it out.

I think the battery would be enough to clean one floor on the highest settings and the second on balanced so no worries about that.

Nancy ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Amazing advice. Thank you very much for taking me point by point as I broke down each question.
Last question, is the 360 S9 & the Roborock made by the same company?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

My pleasure, Nancy :)

Nope, those two are different companies, the 360 and Roborock. Both companies produce really good products for the price so you wouldn't go wrong with any.

Nancy ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Thank you.
So based on that I think I would need a vacuum that AVOIDS the carpet area so as to not get it tangled.
I reading up on the following descriptions:
“ The following new feature is the
“rise feature”, where it lifts the pad 4 mm if it detects carpet. It solves the issue of whether or not to remove the pad on mixed surfaces. However, it won’t avoid carpets automatically.”

I don’t think I would want one that goes over i
the mat while mopping like the ones that have the rise feature because if it gets stuck & doesn’t rise I’m afraid it would get stuck & wet the carpet. It looks like this is the S7. In the description above “it won’t avoid carpets.
1. Does that mean that this model does not let me program “no go zone” for the floor mats that I have in front of my kitchen sink nor cooktop area is about 4x6ft.

When reading up on the different models of Roborock vacuums I was clear on the fact that the ones with the electronic water tank are the better ones because without electronic water tank it will leave a puddle of water after use if not emptied.
2. So that would eliminate model S5, correct?
How about S6 and 6Pure. I don’t really understand these models except that one of them has a gravity tank like older models & can leave a puddle & no control over how which water is put out.
3. What is the difference of S6 and 6Pure?
4. Please explain the simultaneous vacuuming and mopping feature. What size area does it vacuum before it mops? Meaning, does it vacuum 1 sq foot/meter then mops that area same 1 sqft/meter immediately after before going onto the next sqft? Or does it mean it vacuums a room first then mops the same room before going into another room?

My house is generally not very dirty like with stains on tile & hardwood floor. No carpets only the 2 rubber mats in kitchen and 2 door entry carpets 6x5 on the same floor.
I don’t have pets. I keep a clean house & minimize the hair in bathroom by quickly vacuum any hair with a dyson cordless that is kept outside bathroom. I noticed that kept the rest of the house pretty much clear of hair, thereby the house is roughly clean. I give a quick dyson vacuum when I can to the rest of the house or I swifter. I just HATE mopping!

I am excited about getting something that will help me maintain the house clean while I sleep. Especially to know that the kitchen is getting cleaned every night is a dream.

Please help me identify my dream vacuum:
*I want a vacuum that has líder and knows what area it has missed so it can go over missed areas.
*Has electronic water tank to avoid puddles when mopping.
*Can handle avoiding areas like 2x4 that are the rubber mats in kitchen.

I’m asking because maybe there is a previous model that handled this prior to the latest and most expensive model out there today.

Thank you.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Hi Nancy, thanks for all your questions!

We are talking about the Roborock S7. It does avoid carpets automatically but this feature was not available for the US users, maybe it has changed since the last time I hear. However, you can set no-go zones so it wouldn't cross the carpet area.

1. Does that mean that this model does not let me program “no go zone” for the floor mats that I have in front of my kitchen sink nor cooktop area is about 4x6ft.

The Roborock S7 or basically any other Lidar-guided Roborock supports a no-go zone feature so it would avoid your floor mats. The S7 tho draws the carpets on the map so it's easier to set no-go zones if needed but you can do it with the other models too but you wouldn't be able to see them (carpets) on the map so setting virtual boundaries is not as convenient.

When reading up on the different models of Roborock vacuums I was clear on the fact that the ones with the electronic water tank are the better ones because without electronic water tank it will leave a puddle of water after use if not emptied.

I prefer electronic water tanks as they are more convenient to use. You can simply set the water level in the app and let it be. I prefer to run mine on the highest level. The S6 and S6 Pure have a switch on the water tank, so you would have to take off the tank, toggle the switch, then put it back when with the others like S5 Max, S6 MaxV, and S7 you only need to set it in the app. The switch means there are two water flow levels.

2. So that would eliminate model S5, correct?
How about S6 and 6Pure. I don’t really understand these models except that one of them has a gravity tank like older models & can leave a puddle & no control over how which water is put out.

As I said, those two have a small water tank and are better to use on a small area of hard floors as you'd need to refill the tank every once in a while in a bigger area. They don't have an electric pump that controls water level but they are not gravity-fed either. Something in between. But the small tank is not useful for homes with a big hard floor area. The S6 is quieter and comes with disposable bags and in general, has the biggest accessory kit I've seen in any Roborock. The S6 Pure is basically the same version but I believe with a slightly bigger water tank and is louder. Also, it doesn't have spare parts in the package.

3. What is the difference of S6 and 6Pure?

Roborock S6 vs. Roborock S6 Pure: What has changed?
Fewer rear cliff-sensors in the S6 Pure
Louder than the S6 (65 dB vs. 58 dB on high settings)
A bigger water tank (180 ml vs. 140 ml)

The robots that mop as they vacuum do the same thing at the same time. So the robot navigates in a 1 sqft and it vacuums & mops at the same time. It doesn't return to mop. The motor works to suck up the dust and debris, at the same time the water tank let some water out so the cleaner do both.

Lol same, I just hate mopping so that's why I run my robot with the mopping attachments every time it cleans.

Basically, it is any Lidar-guided robot. Nowadays, most of them come with an electric water tank. I normally recommend a Roborock as it is the best value/customer service/built quality. In addition, it has a big battery and is suitable for big houses.
The Roborock S7 would do the job as it would go vacuum the rubber mat without mopping them (if it doesn't suck it up). But I would say any other Lidar robot with a big battery is fine for you. The 360 S9 is a great one too by the way.

I have a few questions in order to compare models.
What is considered a small or big home.
I live in a 3 level home.
Main living is on the 1st floor 720 sq feet.
Open lay out. Living room & kitchen hardwood floors & tile in kitchen. Front and back door entry carpet size is 5ft x 4ft.
Also, in the kitchen, infront of both the sink and the cooktop I have a rubber mat that looks like carpet on the top side and rubber on the underside so that it sticks to tile floor.
My Dyson vacuums get it caught when vacuuming it.
Question 1: How will these types of robo vacuums do with it?

2nd floor 720 sq feet. 3 room hardwood and tile in bathroom.
Mapping would be good but costly.
My understanding is that it would return to the base for recharging. If the unit vacuums and mops a 720 Sq foot space on one charge would I then not need to move the charging unit upstairs when I place it on the second floor to clean?

Which mapping one would you recommend?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Hi Nancy, let's see what we can do...

A robot vacuum cleans 1 square meter (~10 sqft) in one minute so it potentially cleans 200 square meters on one charge. Keep in mind that some space is taken by furniture so the actual cleaning area would be smaller than your house. 720 sqft is rather medium than big. With that being said, you might place the robot upstairs and let it clean there on one charge. But probably not on Max mode.

I am not sure about that rubber mat in the kitchen. I have one in my bathroom and the robot doesn't drag it around but it is sticky as the bathroom is more humid if that makes sense. So it might or might not catch it. In my case, it doesn't tho.

If the battery level is low, you would need to move the charging dock to the level of your house the robot is going to clean so it would recharge and then resume cleaning.

I would recommend going with something that has a bigger battery like the 360 S9 or any Roborock.

Does anything I've said help you?

Krzysztof ⋅ 3 years, 5 months ago #

a few days ago I got a robot vacuum cleaner 360 S9 , purchased on ALiexspres, already at the first start there were problems with starting there was still the message "The fan seems to be faulty" but after a longer charge it started to work, now after a few days it stopped working again, the battery shows 100% charging, but still shows the same message "The fan seems to be faulty" and nothing works.
I am very sorry that he was supposed to be a good helper for my wife, but there are only problems, please help me.

Hi Krzysztof, sounds like you got a defective device :( Try to contact the seller or maybe ask the customer support what you can do with this problem: zh-service@360.cn

Ricke ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hello Natalie, I would love your input, my place is 1400 sq ft total.

One level is mixed mid pile carpet and laminate about 450 ft x 2

The remaining 500 sq ft is mid pile carpet two rooms 250 sq ft each both areas the robot would have to be manually placed in the rooms.

I tried the RR E4 and it did a good job on laminate, pretty good on mid pile not so hot on low pile OK navigating, at the end took 15 minutes to get from the hallway into the room with the dock 10 ft away at the most.

The 360 did GREAT on the carpets, but had to go home after mapping 500sq ft, and got stuck on the corner of a mid pile area rug twice.

I would not mine a mop as a throw-in but not a primary reason to buy. Carpet cleaning, Good App, and good customer service are MOST important to me.

I am considering
OZMO 950/T5
RR S6 pure
S5 max
S4 max
360
S7 pro
S9
OR whatever you might suggest.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hi Ricke, for a place like yours I'd go with the S5 Max or the OZMO T5. I hear ECOVACS app is a bit glitchy but maybe it has been fixed since then. Those two are the best for the price if you need decent mopping and vacuuming performance. Don't know anything about ECOVACS customer service as I have never tested any of these but do know that Roborock is one of the best in this area.

Frederick Earle ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hey Natalie, I noticed that the s5 and S4 max had cfm numbers over 24 but your s6pro/s9 number was16?

Something about the s6pro results in a lower number?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

There could be many reasons for higher airflow but those numbers rarely represent real-world cleaning results. I've seen robots with one of the highest CFM and below-average results and vice versa.

Frederick Earle ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Sorry I meant the s5 and s7 had cfm numbers of 24 but the s9 is much lower?

Luke ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hello Natalie.
Thank you for your comment. The 360 S6 Pro was my first choice but I didn't expect these prices when I started researching for robot vacuum cleaners. Sure, it's difficult to tell regarding the carpet, but it's some type of dark grey/blue so hopefully it won't be a problem.
Thank you!

Luke ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hello, Natalie.
What would be your recommendation for a 60 sqm appartment with four rooms and a hallway, two small carpets and a dog? I'm considering the 360 S6 Pro (468 $) vs Xiaomi Mi Mop P (364 $). Also, do you think that a dark grey carpet would be a problem for any of these models?
Thank you.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

Hello Luke. I would not recommend the Xiaomi Mi Mop P for homes with carpets. The 360 S6 Pro is a significantly better robot. The dark grey carpet should not be a problem for a vacuum for as long as it's not too dark so it thinks it's a drop-off. But to be honest, I can't say for sure in your case.
I would go for the 360 over the Xiaomi.

Hey Natalie, I have one more question :)
What would be your choice between 360 S9 (360 S6 Pro) and Roborock S5 Max?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 2 months ago #

I would go for the Roborock S5 Max :)

Not saying it is significantly better, I love Roborock customer support and I think its robots have the most efficient navigation. If you have both, you would not notice the real difference in day-to-day chores. You will be happy with any of those in any case. I think they both are great. I believe. the S6 Pro also has more accessories in the box.

It’s not my experience the multi floor management works without problems on the 360. It currently has a number if bugs which need to be worked out.

1. It will loose its position if you move it from one floor to the next.
2. It will build a new map of the new floor which I think adds a map, but that doesn’t get added unless you have a docking station in that floor, which no one does. Only once it docks it saves the map.
3. If it can’t find the docking station, it will keep going with full vacuuming on until I guess it runs out of battery. I think after a long time it will tell you it can’t find the docking station.
4. The app is good but the English is horrible, and the voice packs are not great either. You will probably want to turn the voice prompts off after a while.

In short, it’s a great robot, but it needs improvements, and I would not get it currently for multiple floors unless you buy separate docking stations for each, or get a separate s6 for each floor. This is probably what I’m going to do, if you don’t need mopping and your rooms are reasonably sized, get a cheap s5 which is equivalent to the S7 without mopping and slightly smaller battery. Then I would say it’s a good deal.

The good points are, the suction is great, it’s quiet, looks elegant, although slightly on the large size, but the best thing is you can set multiple time slots per day, which is what was important to me.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hey there.

1. To not make the robot loose the position, you have to choose the needed map in the app first. I haven't tested it in the S6 Pro tho because I don't have a second floor :)
2. All robots save a map this way: it should start from the dock and finish by docking itself. The 360 robots works the same way. Maybe there are some other robots that are able to save a map without returning to the dock but I haven't heard about such.
3. Same as the point 2. The robots needs the dock to finish cleaning. Maybe if choosing the upstairs floor in the app first will help the robot to recognize there's no charging dock on this floor but unfortunately I have nowhere to test this out. Maybe in this case the robot just says it finishes cleaning and stop running.
4. Agree on this one :)

The S5 is in my opinion the best budget vacuum for its price. Not for the larger areas but a great cleaner for smaller homes.

Great points on everything!

Ricke ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

I called RR about this, and they told me their multi mapping works as follows:
1) Start and end the cleaning/mapping at the base in the new area/floor.
2) Save the map. (Add no go lines etc..)
3) Move the base to the main floor.
4) Manually place the robot where the base was located when the new area was mapped.
5) Robot automatically recognizes which map it's on and should clean the new area and return to the starting location and turn off.

Natalie can have the robot run in a closed room like a bedroom or garage to simulate a 2nd floor.

I tried to reach 360, but as many have said, service is a little rough with them. Very hard to get consistent answers from them.

I bought the S5 but had to return it because of battery life, I only got 45 mins run time during an initial mapping, and it got caught twice on the corner of an area rug.

The lack of support, (No customer ticketing or communication systems,) an amateurish website, limited US sales channels, leads me to RR or Ecovac for a LIDAR solution. I really would like to get a 360 but can't seem to get a straight, constant answer from them. (As an example their CS team tells me post-sales support is handled by Amazon and not them... Amazon sends me back to them...

This is from there CS team:

13) If you buy on Amazon, Amazon will provide follow-up services, there is no need to send it back to China.

14) Sorry, our customer service center does not provide online phone services for the time being. If your vacuum robot has any problems during use, please email us, we will serve you as soon as possible.

15) If you buy on Amazon, Amazon will provide follow-up services. If you buy it elsewhere, you can email us and we will provide you with follow-up services.

Tbh this is why I kind of prefer Roborock over the 360 company even tho the robots are decent and could compete with the Roborock

Ricke ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

I have to recind my prior comments, Customer Service has been amazing, via the FB group which is the the preferred means of communication. They have a US based service center that will service bots. Multi map feature is very solid and having 10 gives alot more flexibility than 4 and allows for better navigation and customization. You just need to map the floor with the base once, then drop the bot on the floor and select the map, the bot will recognize where it is at and run the cleaning....if you move furniture around the additionalmaps is awesome. The mopping is great and easy to use, the upgraded 2650 pa motor really sets it apart. Better value than RR and build quality is the same... apps is more intuitive

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Hey Ricke, cool. I am glad you like the S9, indeed this is a good machine :) I haven't tested it as I don't have a second floor. Does the robot just stop working as it finishes if the docking station is downstairs or keep running around and looking for it?

Ricke ⋅ 3 years, 10 months ago #

Looks for it for 15 minutes then stops where the doc was

satya ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Can you please tell me which one is the best among below two. I was looking at all reviews reading them about their prons and cons and Finally I decided to chose anyone from below two.
1) Roborock s5 Max
2) 360 S6 pro

I am bit confused what to select, I am sure I am not going to looking at Roborock s6 Max V bcz it's bit expensive.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hey, Satya.
Roborock S5 Max now supports up to 4 floor maps so multimapping is not an issue anymore.
In terms of cleaning quality, I would say they are equal, maybe the Roborock is slightly better at mopping.
Both have a nice and sleek app and similar features.
I like Roborock customer service but 360 also produces great robots.
You will not go wrong with either of them and would probably not see the difference in real life.
The S6 Pro has a bit stronger suction but again, in real life, it might not make that much of a difference.

Satya ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Thank you so much for your kind reply.

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

You are very welcome :)

Woody ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hello,
can you say a little bit more about the multilevel-functions and how exactly it works? A well working multilevel function is the main reason for me to buy a robot vacuum. Can I just move the robot to some place on a different level or must it be always the same? Do I have also to move the docking station? Can I still choose which room to clean etc.? Unfortunately, I was not able to find more information about how multilevel-functionality works in the past, maybe you are the first to help me out :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hello, Woody. Sure let's do this together :)
The 360 robots have the best multifloor management among the robots I have tested.
1. You can run the robot upstairs and when it saves the map, you have to do the same downstairs (by letting the robot starts from the dock and return to the dock on its own).
2. When the maps are created, you can mark them as favorites so they will not be replaced if you create more than 10 maps.
3. When you have these maps, you can manually move the robot upstairs again (even if the dock is downstairs), choose the map you need in the app before starting the robot and let it run. Normally, the 360 takes a few seconds to recognize its location which you can see on the map once it knows its place.
4. When those maps are created, the robot divides them into separate rooms, you can manually change the way they are divided and also rename each. When you do so, you can order the robot to clean a particular room, but you have to choose the map you need first.

I hope that helps. Feel free to ask any question :)

Best

Woody ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Natalie,
wow, finally a good answer I can work with, thanks a lot :)
So all I have to do is run the robot on each floor from its dock and later let it start somewhere on that floor and it will recognize the room by itself without any help?
Is this any different from the new roborock T7? I dont know if I should wait for that robot to be available in Europe and if its any better than the 360...

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Basically, yes. If you place the robot on that floor and (!) choose the needed map in the app, it will recognize where it is.
The Roborock T7 is not going to be widely available. It is only for the Chinese market. But it seems like the company is gong to present something new.
When comparing the 360 S6 Pro with one of the latest S5 Max, there would not be too many differences, except for the multimap support but again, have a look at this post, the Roborock S6 might get full multimap too.
All I can say is that you might not see a difference between the two in real-life. When comparing with the Roborock S6, the 360 S6 Pro has better mopping but next to the Roborock S5 Max, the 360 S6 Pro is about equal.
I love Roborock for the build quality and great customer support, but I love 360 too because its robots are also good. It's up to you :)

Woody ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Thanks again for your information and the helpuful advices, especially since I just saw the reveal of the new roborock s6 max v and I have to say, that I will probably wait for that robot to come out since it has everything I need and looks a lot cooler than the 360 robot :)
I hope the multilevel option works as good as promised and that I dont have to move the dock every time to a different floor....maybe you have any information about that, too? you seem to know everything ;)
Greetings

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Hey there :) Lol I might hear about the newest Roborock as well. You can read more information here. Spoiler: I am getting this robot in the following days so there's a chance to have a closer look to it.
Feel free to ask any questions.

Woody ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

Thanks for the spoiler :) I really look forward for your review, especially if the multilevel-feature works as described and how well it performs. As I said, thats the main feature I need, and if it does well, I place my preorder asap :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years, 6 months ago #

I'll try my best to figure out how multimap works :)
