Cleaning capabilities

- High-precious map
- Mopping option
- One of the quietest on the market
- Catches most pollens and allergens in the air
The robot is capable of sweeping, mopping, sweeping, and mopping at the same time, depending on your needs.
The robot saves a few maps. In sweeping mode, it switches to the sweeping map where you can set zoned cleaning, no-go zones, etc.
In mopping mode, the robot switches to the mopping map, where you set no-mop zones to prevent the robot from going on carpets with mopping attachments on.
By settings no-go zones and no-mop zones, you separate two maps for easier management.
Navigation & Mapping
The Lenovo has a tower with lidar on top. It scans the surroundings and creates a map to memorize your floor plan so it will not miss a spot when running around.
Mapping makes cleaning more efficient compared to robots with random navigation.
The X1 has 22 sets of sensors that help the robot navigate, making your furniture safe from the robot continually bumping into it.
This is what is written about the Lenovo X1 navigation:
With radar four-way anti-jamming and wire anti-winding, the X1 is 60% more likely to get out trouble. When the X1 stuck by the furniture, such as under the chair, it can recognize the situation and disentangle itself. It is also resistant to entanglement, as the wire will be automatically released.
To prevent the robot from getting stuck on the same spot, you can set no-go zones to keep it off those areas.
The Lenovo is capable of recognizing carpeted surface. Once the sensors identify carpets, the robot boosts up suction to provide a deeper cleaning (it is not on default in the app, you have to enable it manually).
Nevertheless, this robot delivers 2,200 Pa of suction; it stays quiet, making only 55 dB and does not interrupt you when running.
Actually, only a few robots on the market are this quiet being about as powerful as the Lenovo.
The Lenovo X1 is suitable for thin and medium-pile carpets since it has 2,200 Pa of suction, carpet boost, and great climbing ability of 20 mm (0.8 in), which means it can go over tall thresholds and carpets that are not sicker than 20 mm (0.8 in). Actually, only a few robots, such as the Roborock S5/S5 Max/S6, have it all. Most of them either have strong suctionor good climbing ability.
Filter
The Lenovo X1 is safe for allergy and asthma sufferers with HEPA filtration
One of the most important features of the latest robots - a HEPA filter. It traps pollen and allergens, reducing the chances of you suffering from asthma/allergy. The one inside the Lenovo can be washed with water and meant to last long.
A washable filter is not only great for those who have an allergy but also for anyone who wants the robot to perform the best as when the filter gets clogged, it causes reduced suction.
Vacuuming & Mopping
The Lenovo X1 is equipped with a 585 ml dustbin which is relatively big for a robot vacuum. For example, the Roborock S5 an S6 has a 480 ml dust container, and the latest Roborock S4 has a 640 ml dustbin. 585 ml is enough for an average place with a pet but might not be enough if you have, saying, 2 German Sheppards or Huskies who shed a lot and have long hair, you might need to empty the dustbin more often.
Aside from the dustbin, the robot has a 170 ml water tank, which is also average for this type of machine. Most Lidar-based cleaners have a 100-150 ml water container.
When the robot in mopping mode, you can set no-mop zones to keep it off carpets. This is a rare future too, only a few flagship robots support it.
If you have some areas you don't want the robot to go and also need to keep the Lenovo of carpets in mopping mode, you can set no-go zones to where you don't want it to go in the sweeping map, and set no-mop zones in the mopping map so the robot will not go the unwanted zones and also keep your carpets safe.
The water tank is intelligent, meaning when the robot is not moving, the water stops leaking.
One of my favorite things about the Roborock S6 is that it has two types of mopping pad: a microfiber pad and disposable wipes. The Lenovo also has this solution.
A pad is better for heavy jobs like when you need to mop a bigger area or when it's been a while since you mopped the last time.
The wipes are great for lights jobs and that you don't need to wash them after; just throw them away, and you are done.
Keep in mind, the Lenovo X1 is not the best option if you are looking for a mopping robot. It does not have a big water tank and does not have a vibrating head, sprays water, etc. It will not get rid of stains, but it is a nice option to have if you have small areas to mop because, for bigger zones, you will have to refill the container with water. In short: the Lenovo X1 is ideal for small mopping spots but not to mop the whole place at once.
App features
- AI partition. It divides the map into separate sections (rooms), so it will be easier to let the robot run in the kitchen or living room only. You can also make scheduling in a particular room or two. This is by far my favorite future because you don't have to run the robot around the whole place, only withing a few high-traffic rooms.
- Customized cleaning. By drawing a rectangle on the map, you let the robot know where it should clean in case there is a dirty spot or just a small area that gets dirtier than others faster.
- Fixed sequence. Prioritize the robot to start vacuuming from the place you want to be clean first like the kitchen or living room if you are waiting for quests to come, etc. For example, tell the robot to start from the kitchen, then the living room, and finish with the bedroom.
- Point and clean. Tap on the map where you want the robot to go, and it will go there and clean that small area.
- Deep cleaning. You can make the robot go twice over the same area to ensure better cleaning results.
- Scheduled cleaning. Set the time and room (or the whole house) where you want the Lenovo to clean.
- Virtual wall. Works as a restricted area that keeps the robot off certain zones. Ideal to set around cluttered zones or areas where too many wires are.
- No-mop area. Does not let the robot damping carpets in mopping moe.
- Multi-floor mapping management. The robot stores more than one map making it easier to switch between sweeping and mopping maps. Ideal for multi-floor houses.
Those are the features some top-line machines have. Other than that, you can switch between cleaning modes, turn the robot on and off, etc.
If you have Amazon Alexa, you can control the robot with voice commands. Not sure about Google Home, but do hope it will be compatible with it too.
Battery
As for battery life, the robot can run up to 110 minutes on one charge, which makes it suitable for small and average homes, but if you live in a big house, most likely, the robot will need to go recharge and then to resume cleaning. It is not a big deal; just it will need more time to finish the job.
What is the Lenovo X1 good for:
- Small or average homes. Also suitable for big homes if you are okay with it to take more time to finish the job.
- Allergy and asthma sufferers. With HEPA filtration, the Lenovo catches up to 99.9% of pollen and allergens in the air.
- Thin and medium-pile carpets. The robot performs well on carpets thanks to strong suction, carpet boost, and good climbing ability.
- Cluttered homes. With smart features such as virtual walls, room cleaning, etc.,. the Lenovo is ideal for homes with many furniture.
- Pet owners. The robot is capable of picking up pet hair on carpet, and hard floors, and thanks to a relatively big dustbin, hold more pet hair, so you don't have to empty it as often.
- Homes with hard floors. Even though the mopping feature is not the best, the robot does a superb job on hard floors by catching debris and mopping the surface.
