Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P vs. MiJia 1C: Which One to Buy?

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P and Xiaomi Mijia 1C are the most popular Xiaomi robot vacuums. I already compared all the Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners, but a lot of our readers asked about the differences between the Mijia 1C and the Mop P, so here is a detailed comparison between these devices.

Mop P and Mijia 1C detailed video comparison

Things the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P and MiJia 1C share

  • Follow the same back and forth purposeful navigation pattern which helps the robot to not miss a spot as it cleans compared to those robots that randomly bounce around.
  • A HEPA filter and are safe for those who are dust-sensitive.
  • About the same runtime and resuming cleaning if the robot didn't finish the job on the first run.
  • As to smart features, the 1C and Mop P both allow setting restricted boundaries and zoned cleaning.
  • Saving a map after the cleaning which helps the robot to understand where to clean the next time and be more efficient.
  • Decent mopping feature. It does the job, the Mop P does it a bit better but both are better than an average robot vacuum at mopping.

In terms of cleaning, the Xiaomi Mijia 1C does a better job on carpet and hard floors while the Mop P is slightly better at mopping. It is also more efficient because of the Lidar and has numerous smart features as it can go clean the kitchen directly etc.

The difference between the two

Let’s talk about the main difference: Mop P vs. MiJia 1C.

Design

The 1C is shorter because of not having Lidar on top. It can reach some places under furniture Lidar-guided robots can't.

Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop has Lidar on the top so it's taller
Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop has Lidar on the top so it's taller

Both robots are relatively quiet.

The Xiaomi Mop P comes with two bins, the 2-in-1 dustbin, and a separate dust container. The 2-in-1 bin is challenging to empty. I'd recommend using the separate dustbin if you are not going to mop. Besides, the 2-in-1 container leaks which might damage the robot if it stays on the charging dock for too long.

The MiJia 1C doesn't have leaking problems and you can not be worried about it sitting on the floor after it has done mopping.

Nevertheless, I would recommend removing the water tank after mopping is done for every robot vacuum.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C has two separate containers for mopping and dust.

Mapping & Navigation

The most significant difference between the two would be mapping technology. The Mop P is lidar-guided, it has the LDS sensor on top that scans the surroundings and builds an accurate map of the room.

The MiJia 1C uses an optical (ToF) sensor, gyroscope, and accelerometer to build a map of a house.

Lidar vs. Optical sensor (ToF)
Lidar vs. Optical sensor (ToF)

If the Mop P creates a map based on scanning the room and it "sees" the area before going for cleaning, the MiJia 1C builds a map as it cleans which means it doesn't understand where to go next as it doesn't have the map of the cleaning area yet. It bumps into an obstacle and thus creates a rough map of the room it cleans.

After the first cleaning (or a few cleaning cycles for the 1C) when the map is created, both robots know where to clean and are more efficient.

Navigation

Because of being Lidar-guided, the Mop P is more accurate and gentle with furniture. On a daily basis, you will not notice the difference.

After the Mop P creates a map, it divides it into separate rooms in order to make the robot clean a specific room further. It allows merging or dividing some areas if you are not satisfied with the results.

Based on that map, you can schedule the robot to clean a certain room.

Because of having an accurate map, the Mop P finishes cleaning faster

The MiJia does not have a room cleaning feature.

To conclude

Because of Lidar, the Mop P creates an accurate map. This helps in cluttered homes with many furniture.

The MiJia is better to be used in homes with minimum furniture.

Mopping

The Xiaomi Vacuum Mop P has a dedicated Y-shape mopping pattern. It also can go back-and-forth if needed. The Y-shape does a better job at removing stains as it goes over the same spot twice but also spends more time to clean an area.

The Xiaomi 1C just moves back and forth. Also does the job well.

The Xiaomi Vacuum Mop P is better at mopping thanks to the Y-shape pattern it follows in mopping mode

During our tests, I noticed that the 1C consumes less water than most robots. Even after running it on max mode, you will notice that it still has enough water to cover the same area twice.

This means the 1C is ideal if you have a big area of hard floor to mop.

Other than that both robots do the job on hard floors, the Mop P might do it better but it would hardly be noticeable in day-to-day life.

To conclude

If you want the robot to remove stains, the Mop P would be a better buy but keep in mind, it spends twice as much time in the same area.

If you have a big area of hard floor to mop, go with the MiJia 1C.

Vacuuming

The MiJia 1C has stronger suction.

The Mop P comes equipped with two containers, a 2-in-1 water tank + dustbin and a 500 ml dustbin. The 2-in-1 is challenging to empty though. The MiJia has two separate tanks, one for dust and one for mopping.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C performs better vacuuming carpets and hard floors. It picks up more debris than the Mop P

In our tests, the MiJia 1C was noticeable better at cleaning carpets. It does a better job on both low and medium-pile carpets including handling pet hair.

Bottom view

To conclude

If you have carpets, I would suggest getting the MiJia 1C.

The app

As I said before, the Mop P creates an accurate map that is better for cluttered homes. The 1C is a great decision for clean layouts.

Another thing is room cleaning. The Mop P can be ordered to clean a specific room or two and also can be scheduled to clean some parts of your home.

Both robots have the same cleaning modes and water output.

Another thing is the Mop P allows setting an unlimited amount of no-go zones and zoned cleaning. With the MiJia, you can create one no-go zone and one area to clean.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C is more basic. It doesn't have as many smart features but it is a good cleaner for those who are not going to use the app often or don't have many areas for the robot to avoid.

Final thoughts

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop P is a good buy if you want a lidar-guided machine without having to pay more.

It has some flaws such as the poor ability to clean carpets especially medium-pile ones or leaking when the mopping tank is filled with water. If you don't have thick carpets and want the robot mainly to clean hard floors, the Mop P would be a good robot to buy.

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C is the best in its price range.

It does a better than average job on carpets and hard floors. Has decent mopping and some extra features none robot vacuum for the price has. If you have a clean layout with minimum furniture, the MiJia 1C is an ideal robot vacuum to buy.

Is the main brush compatible between both devices?

No, the rollers are different

Hello,
How is 1C battery will be after 2 years of use? If it is new can clean only 70 sq . m so after year it will not do it with one charge?

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 9 months ago #

Hi relco, since I don't use the Xiaomi as my main robot, I can't answer this question. Besides, even the new product doesn't cover 70 sq m anyways if running it on max power. There is a Xiaomi 2C came out, maybe have a look at it?

Thanks Natalie; Mop P or Eufy L70?

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 12 months ago #

I didn't hear lots of the eufy L70 and didn't test it myself. Tho one of my readers has it and he's happy with it. So basically what you want more as they are similar in some ways

Hello Nataly, extraordinary explanation and knowledge, extremely useful, I am about to decide, Mop P or 1C, if I opt for the 1c I can currently have room cleaning? what should I do? With which country should I register? to have the correct version and have these functions? If so, you wouldn't need to invest more in the Mop P

Natalie Red ⋅ 2 years, 12 months ago #

Hi there, both have room cleaning. Depending on the modification you get you would need to choose a Chinese mainland or your current country. I'm not sure I understand the other questions

I have a old model xiao mi vacuum robot model number 5DJQR01RR with sensor similar to Mop P. Battery used is about 5200mAh. Now a day the battery capacity only 2500mAh. why?

E.Togay ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Thank u for the elaborate comparison. So helpful. One question: if 1c saves only 1 map; does it mean that i cannot use it in a single room or on a separate floor without a map?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 4 months ago #

Hi there, the 1C saves one map. If you let it work in an unknown place, it would start creating a new one but when the robot is returned to the area it already mapped, the map will be shown again. So basically you can use it in a two-story house but the second floor's map will not be saved.

Hi,
Really nice comparison, but i still don't know which one is for me.
I have 60m² appartment with not much furniture (just basics, dining table, coffe table,
big sofa but elevated so both can go under, bed, night stand and 2 or 3 more elements), and without pets.
It's all hard wood floor or tiles, and it's for europe.
Can you please give me an advice which one i should buy since you tested both.
Tnx :)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 3 months ago #

Hi Mathias, thank you :)
If you feel like not using the room select feature much and don't really care about advanced navigation, the 1C would be awesome. I still think this is one of the best-performing devices on the market for the price.
If you want better mopping, go with the Mop P. Keep in mind that the Mop P costs more.

Hope that helps :)

Swho20 ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Natalie,
have you tested the Dreame F9? I'd be interested i your comparison between the xiaomi vacuum mop pro & the Dreame F9. I would like a robovac that does good mopping on wooden floors.
thanks

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi there,
I have not testes the Dreame F9 but I tested the Xiaomi MiJia 1C which is very similar to it. The Mop P does a better job as a mop but not as good as a vacuum. You can read about the two here or watch the video.

Hope that helps :)

I have the European version of Xiaomi Mi Robot-Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM), but it only saves one map, is there any way to save more than one map?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi Fernanda, the European version of the Xiaomi Mi Robot-Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) saves only one map.

Fernanda ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Thank you for your quick answer.
What I would like to know is if there is any way to connect to the Chinese app to be able to save multimaps or if an update is planned to draw multiple maps.
Thanks

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hi there, I do hope an update is coming in the future that will allow saving multiple maps. At first, even the Chinese version didn't have multimap support. But I don't know for sure when it will be available :)

Hello i bought the xiaomi vacuum mop pro mode yesterday. I have a couple of questions if you could help me thank you in advance

1- i have several xiaomi devices that I already was using in china mainland region. The vacuum that i bought is europe version the it wont detect the device in china region, so I had to download a cloning app so i can have 2 separate regions on my phone. Is there any way i can merge all the devices in to 1 region ?
My devices for china are,
A) Mi fan 2s
B) qinping bluetooth gateway
C) mi control hub
D) 2x mi temperature and humidity sensor
E) mi home security camera

2- second question is that isnt there a water level remaining sensor or something so i can know when the water is finished inside the 2 in 1 bin for mopping? It keeps finishing and i dont notice it so it just dry mops the surface.

3- i have a 40m2 living room kitchen and hallway alltogether, it takes about 60 minutes to mop and vacuum is this normal ?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 6 months ago #

Hy Jan, unfortunately, I don't know how to merge all the devices to one region.
As to your other questions:

2. Among all the robots I tested only the 360 S6 Pro could tell you when the water tank is empty. The Mop P does not have any sensor that informs you when the bin needs refilling. You will notice when the wank is empty once the robot does not leave wet lines on the floor.

3. Yes, if you have lots of furniture or the robot got confused somewhere it is more or less normal. The next time it should spend less time to finish cleaning.

Does that help?

Hi, where can you buy the xiaomi vacuum mop pro in Australia?

Progene ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Maybe, you wish to edit the content.
Xiaomi Mi Robot-Vacuum Mop P (STYJ02YM) does have Google support. I am able to configure it and ask Google to vaccum the floor.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Progene, thanks. Edited :)

Hi! Is the 1c able to stop, recharge by itself and go off again to complete the cleaning of a house about the size of 140square meters?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Peter,
The Xiaomi MiJia 1C recharges and then resumes cleaning from the same spot it left to finish the job. I would not recommend getting such a model for a 140 square meter house tho. You need to run it on low power which would cause worse cleaning results. Even in this scenario, it might not finish cleaning in two runs. It also depends on how much furniture do you have but I still would suggest getting something with a bigger battery.

Hi! Is the 1c able to stop, recharge by itself and go off again to complete the cleaning of a house about the size of 140square meters?

Dionysio ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi Natalie,
Very nice and helpful camparison. Thanks!
I m trying to decide between those two robots!
Let me ask you something. As I can see the 1C has 60m2 cleaning coverage in low power mode. So, it is impossible to clean 120 m2, with one charge , using the max power mode??
Thank you

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Hi there,

The 1C lasts up to 113 minutes on low power mode and about 40 minutes on max mode. I do not recommend using it in such a big area. Probably not bigger than a ~70 sq m home.

Tamas Koszegi ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P or the MiJia 1C is the better after map creation, if some changes on map? (we have kid and cat + toys on the floor)

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Both robots sense small obstacles on the floor so there is no need for changing the map if you have toys on the floor. The Mop P is more sensitive tho as it has Lidar.

Lee-Anne Jacobsohn ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

One need to scan the whole jouse in one go to have a map, but what do you do if you have steps in your house which prevents the robot of scanning your house in one go

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

If you have steps on the first floor and you are planning to manually move the robot on this step to scan the floor, it will not create a map anyway. Or I didn't get the question right?

If the robot has access to the whole floor without having to step on it (the steps) it should not have any issues with mapping.

Lee-Anne Jacobsohn ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

Thank you so this App would not work if your house has steps or multiple levels. Can the xiaomi robots work with different apps that support multiple maps for houses with levels? Or is your only option to do a new map each time you want to clean a different level in your house.

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 7 months ago #

The Xiaomi MiJia 1C saves one map only. It does not matter which app you are using :)

Hello,

and what about quite long dog hair? Can he handle it and draw it in without a problem?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 8 months ago #

Hi there, as to long dog hair I think you would not have problems as it is (hair tangling) more relatable to long human hair.

Both of the Xiaomi robots do well at picking up pet hair.

Watchuta Awkin ⋅ 1 year, 7 months ago #

No. Long hair may result in shortened lifespan of the main brush by getting tangled and ripping the plastic

Is it possible to clean another area with Mijia 1c without deleting the saved map?

Natalie Red ⋅ 3 years, 9 months ago #

The robot either recognizes its location or starts a new map so unfortunately there is no way for the robot to clean another area without deleting the saved map.
