SAMSUNG Jet Bot+ vs. Jet Bot AI+ What You Should Know About The Two

SAMSUNG has released its new models, the SAMSUNG Jet Bot+ and Jet Bot AI+ a while ago. Both are premium machines and look unique so let's see what those two bring to the table and whether it is a good buy or not.

The two have very similar specifications like 5-layer HEPA filtration, dustbin size, the same battery, and power settings as well as the same brushroll design.

Both robots use LIDAR to navigate and create a map. The "Plus" in naming represents the self-emptying station that comes in the box. The self-emptying base seems to be the same for both models. It is taller than most systems out there yet is very minimal.

Both models are taller than most robot vacuums with Lidar so they can't get under some furniture.

Let's talk about the brushroll. It looks different from what we used to see. The roller is covered in anti-static fiber that is supposed to be tangle-free but in reality, the roller is solid and there is no way to get rid of hair tangles around the axels and in the middle of the brush since the cleaning tool is not included too. Yes, hair does not get stuck on the roller itself but gets into other hard-to-reach places. So I would not recommend it for those who have to deal with long hair.

The 250 ml dustbin is on the smaller size but there is a function to get to the station once it gets full which is a nice feature since most robots either get to self-empty once at a specific time or after cleaning. Besides Samsung, only Roomba has such an option.

Another unique feature is the ability to choose between low, max, and intelligent power settings. On the intelligent mode, the robot boosts suction when steps on carpet.

As to smart home compatibility, both models are compatible with Bixby, Google Assistant, and Alexa.

Let's talk about the app.

Since the AI+ has a built-in camera for object recognition, it shares real-time video by streaming to your mobile phone using the SmartThings app.

Other than that, both models have a pack of the same smart features presented in most premium robots nowadays like No-Go zones, room naming & cleaning, zoned cleaning, etc. None of those saves more than one map tho.

SAMSUNG Jet Bot+

For hard floors

SAMSUNG Jet Bot+

Decent infrared sensor performance on par with amazing surface cleaning

The robot has a standard round shape and a side brush. It navigates by using Lidar and also uses an infrared sensor that seems to be doing good at recognizing tall objects. The manufacturer states this one has less power compared to the AI modification. The same as the AI version, this one is not suitable for big homes.

SAMSUNG Jet Bot AI+

With Object Avoidance

SAMSUNG Jet Bot AI+

Has a 3D camera for object avoidance

The most compact self-emptying base in the industry.

The AI+ modification has a different design as well as an object recognition function by a built-in 3D camera.

Unlike the standard Jet Bot, the AI is wider and the brushroll is longer too. Besides, this model does not have a side brush as it gets closer to the walls because of its shape.

Cleaning performance

Let's see what is the difference in terms of cleaning performance.

Based on other reviews I've seen both models do a very good job picking up even some large debris on hard floors but when it comes to cleaning carpets, Samsung robots are way below average.

Despite strong suction, the two have a soft roller that is known for great cleaning performance on hard floors but does not provide agitation on carpets which causes bad results at deep clean tests. Even surface cleaning is not so good.

However, both devices show great performance, probably better than average, on a crevice pick-up test which is (my take) due to the soft roller.

So to sum up, the Samsung Jet Bot is a great robot vacuum for homes with mostly hard floors and some carpets.

To conclude

Despite the difference in suction numbers, there is no real difference in cleaning performance on a day-to-day basis.

Both are great at surface cleaning and both are as bad at deep carpet clean. None of these save more than one map as a result are not suitable for multi-level houses.

So I would not suggest getting one of these if your home is mostly covered with carpets but those two are good for hard flooring.

Another con is battery life. None of these are suitable for big homes. The average coverage for the two is about 100 square meters and it's probably on the lowest power settings.

The SAMSUNG Jet Bot+ is a good buy for a small home with almost no carpets and those who don't need additional object recognition.

As to the SAMSUNG Jet Bot AI+, this one is a robot for cluttered homes. Also, you can watch your home while it's being cleaned.
