This year we have seen a few robot vacuums with a new type of self-cleaning bases. Such robot vacuums as the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI, and Xiaomi All-in-One Omni come with an auto cleaning base that can do a few tasks: empty the robot's dustbin, wash the mopping pad, and refill the water tank. Now, Xiaomi-backed Roidmi released its own robot vacuum with a universal self-cleaning base. The Roidmi Eva is a flagship robot vacuum and mop with a self-emptying & washing base that promises to be cheaper than competitors yet has almost all the features of its more expensive rivals.
Roidmi started an Indiegogo campaign a few months ago to fundraise the product, but right now it's already available to buy in online stores, for example, you can buy it on Aliexpress for $187.12.
What do we know about the Roidmi Eva robot vacuum?
The robot vacuum itself is very similar to its competitor. It uses Lidar for efficient navigation but unlike the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI doesn't have a front sensor that helps recognize small objects like socks, cables, toys, etc. The Roidmi Eva has a large 5200 mAh battery that lasts up to 220 minutes on the lowest power mode. This is enough to cover up to 200 sqm per single charge, but even if the Roidmi Eva will not be able to finish the job, it will return to the base, recharge, and continue cleaning from the spot it stopped.
Mopping system
The mopping system is made of two spinning mopping pads and a 200 ml built-in water tank. The auto-cleaning base has two 4L water containers for clean and dirty water.
It washes the mopping pad a few times per cleaning cycle and refills the robot's water tank. When the cleaning task is finished, the base will automatically wash the mopping pads and dry them with hot air.
Self-emptying/washing/drying base
The auto-cleaning base has a colorful display that shows the current robot's status, informs you when the water containers should be refilled, shows the battery status, and when a disposable dust bag should be emptied.
The 3L bag inside the base is enough to collect dust for up to 60 days in an average house.
App control
The Roidmi Eva works with the Mi Home app. You can connect the robot to the internet via your wi-fi network and control it by your phone from everywhere. It also supports Alexa and Google Home voice commands. The app shows the cleaning process in real-time, you can see and manage the map of your house, divide it into separate rooms, change cleaning and mopping modes, schedule it to clean at a specific time, and more. The app also allows you to set no-mop and no-go zones if you want to restrict the robot from going to certain places in your house in mopping or vacuuming mode respectively.
Unlike the Roborock S7 MaxV, the Roidmi can't automatically lift the mopping pads when going on a carpet, but you can set no-mop zones on the map where your carpets are located. Just keep in mind that some carpets can block the way to other rooms and places in your house.
To conclude
The Roidmi Eva is a great alternative to the more expensive Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni. It doesn't have a front camera or 3D sensor like its rivals, so you would need to pick up all cords, socks, toys, and other small things before starting the robot. It can't lift the mopping pads as the Roborock S7 MaxV does. But hey, the Roidmi Eva is almost twice cheaper! So it's a great option for those who want a high-end robot vacuum that simplifies the maintenance routine but don't want to spend too much money on it.
