The Roborock S7 MaxV vs. S7
The MaxV means a robot is equipped with a front camera for object recognition which the S7 and S7 Pro lack. The MaxV models are more advanced in terms of navigation and have some extra features such as taking shots of avoided objects (which you can see in the app), and allows streaming live-videos as the robot cleans.
Roborock S7 series Ultra vs. Plus
The Ultra and Plus mean a Roborock comes equipped with a different type of self-cleaning base.
Self-emptying base Ultra vs. Plus
There are two different types of self-emptying base, the Ultra, and Plus.
The Plus is a standard station with a disposable bag that sucks out the onboard dustbin content setting you free from emptying the dustbin for up to 2 months depending on usage. A 3 L disposable bag holds more debris compared to the Ultra station that has a 2.5L one.
The Ultra base is more advanced. It contains two water containers for clean and wasted water and a disposable dustbag. The station fills out the onboard water tank and washes the mopping pad after a cleaning cycle. With the Ultra base, the user only has to fill out the container and empty the waste water container. The mopping pad is also being dried out with the help of the station and is ready to be used again.
Mopping
The Roborock S7 series is made for convenient usage in homes with a mixed surface. It lifts the mopping plate when sensors detect a carpet so the robot continues vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floors in one cleaning cycle. The mopping attachment vibrates creating pressure on the floor.
All robots in the series have the same mopping technology.
Navigation
The Roborock S7 series navigates by using Lidar, a tower on top. It scans the surroundings and builds a map in one pass. The robot follows a back and forth pattern methodically covering the area without missing a spot. Additionally to Lidar, some modifications use a camera to recognize small objects Lidar cannot see.
The camera takes shots of the avoided objects which you can see in the app. You can also stream live videos.
Roborock S7
The Roborock S7 is the first robot vacuum in the lineup that supports a self-emptying base.
Roborock S7
Best mopping experience
It is also the first model with a lifting mechanism that allows a robot to vacuum carpets and mop hard floors in one cleaning cycle. Compared to the newer modifications, the S7 is not as powerful and does not have object avoidance technology. The cleaning mechanics remain the same tho. The Roborock S7 does not support the Ultra self-cleaning base and only can be bought optionally as a robot vacuum and additional self-cleaning base if needed.
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra / Plus
The Roborock S7 MaxV can be used with either the Plus or Ultra self-cleaning station. It has more power compared to the original S7 and a dual camera for object recognition. The mopping attachment design and cleaning brushroll are the same. The Plus station is not as advanced as the Ultra and as a result, the Roborock S7 MaxV Plus is cheaper compared to the Ultra modification.
The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is the most advanced robot vacuum in the lineup
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs. MaxV Plus
The Roborock S7 MaxV Plus includes a self-emptying base that does not have water containers and only sucks out the onboard dustbin content.
The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra comes with an advanced self-cleaning station.
Roborock S7 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S7 Pro Ultra is the newest in the lineup and is not widely available yet. It is similar to the original Roborock S7, but is more powerful and supports the Ultra station. Since it doesn't have a camera, the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra is cheaper compared to the S7 MaxV Ultra.
Roborock S7 Pro Ultra vs. MaxV Ultra
The Roborock S7 Pro Ultra is less advanced, it does not have object avoidance technology as a result is cheaper than the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. Both have the same self-cleaning base.
To Conclude
The Roborock S7 is the cheapest robot in the series for those who don't want to spend more and don't need that self-washing feature.
If you are looking for an advanced robot vacuum that would set you free from emptying the dustbin and washing the mopping attachment, get the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. If you still want object recognition but don't need the extra mopping capability, consider getting the Roborock S7 MaxV Plus.
For those who want less maintenance but do not spend a lot on the MaxV Ultra, consider getting the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra.
