Roborock Q Series Explained: Q5+ vs. Q7 Max+ vs. Q8 Max+

Q series is a budget lineup that covers all the things you crave in a robot vacuum but lacks some bells and whistles like the more expensive S-line does. The Q series lacks a good mopping system with features related to it and doesn't have lots of power but is a solid choice for homes with hard floors and some carpets.

Those are the affordable robots for users who want the Roborock's vacuum performance with a self-emptying base.

The premium Roborock Qrevo Series compared.

The Q series is an affordable lineup with a self-emptying bin that lacks some Qrevo and S series features and has a lower price tag.

Besides power, the Q series differentiates with mopping function, brushroll type, and things related to mopping. The models with mopping use a standard single mopping pad that does not vibrate or extend along the walls.

The Self-emptying base doesn't wash, dry the pads or refill the water tank, it only has a self-emptying feature that sucks out the dustbin's content.

Roborock Q5 vs Q7 Max

The main difference between the Q5 vs Q7 Max is the lack of mopping. The Roborock Q5 also supports 2 types of the main brush: a rubber+bristle one, and an all-rubber brush. It includes the standard bristled roller but can be switched to the all-rubber brushroll optionally unlike the  Q7 Max which only works with the all-rubber brush that is included in the box.

Roborock bristle/rubber vs. all-rubber brush

Which brushroll performs better?

Based on our cleaning tests, the brush with bristles performs much better with pet hair on carpets. The all-rubber brush, on the other hand, performs better with sand and debris on hard floors and carpets. If you have pets and carpets, the brush with bristles would be a better choice. However, both perform equally well on the hard floor. If you have to deal with lots of long human hair, keep in mind, that the rubber roller is easier to maintain and it resists hair tangles better.

Roborock Q5 Pro+

The Roborock Q5 models are equipped with an old-bristle roller (Q5), and DuoRoller (other models). The Q5 Pro+ is the only robot vacuum with mopping. It has an old gravity-fed water tank and is not suitable for your needs if you are going to use mopping often.

Best Value

Roborock Q5 Pro+

Strong suction

Best affordable for homes with carpets

The Q5 series is the cheapest lineup that is a good buy for the price but is not suitable for deep carpet clean or high-quality mopping experience.

Q7 Series

The Roborock Q7+ looks like an upgraded version of the Q5 Pro+ with an electric water tank but it uses a single roller and has less power.

Best Value

Roborock Q7 Max+

Better for mopping

Compared to the Q5, it has a better mopping system

The Q7 Max+ has a bigger electric water compared to the Q5 Duoroller+ which makes mopping a bit better but not that much to go for the Q7 if you want a better roller system and more power.

The Q7+ is cheaper but it doesn't look like a step-up over the Q5 series.

Roborock Q8 Max+

The Q8 Max+ is the same Q5 Pro+ except for the better water tank system and object recognition.

The best in the series

Roborock Q8 Max+

The best navigation in the series

Object recognition and DuoRoller system for carpets and some hard floors

The Roborock Q8 Max+ is the only robot in the series that sees and avoids small objects.

To sum up

The Q series is a budget lineup with a lot of power for vacuuming but is not equipped with a good mopping system so those models are good for homes covered with carpets or hard floors but only as a daily routine, not for some tough jobs like removing statins, etc.

Which model will suit your needs?

The Roborock Q series is the basic lineup with the Roborock cleaning performance, efficient navigation, and an affordable price tag.

The editor's choice is the Roborock Q8 Max+

The Roborock Q8 Max+ has two rollers for better pickup, an electric water tank for a smoother mopping experience, and object recognition for efficient navigation.

The Roborock Q5 Pro+ if you need mopping, and the Q5 Max+ if you don't. However, the mopping feature doesn't make a huge difference when the Q5 Pro+ has a smaller price tag, right?
