Roborock Q5 Pro+ vs. Q8 Max+

The Q series is an affordable lineup with a self-emptying bin that lacks some Qrevo and S series features and has a lower price tag. It is an affordable model line for those who want Roborock's famous vacuuming performance and don't need a fancy mopping system.

What is the Q Series

This is a series that includes a self-emptying base yet lacks the bells and whistles of the other series like object recognition or mopping pad lift. It is a more affordable lineup with premium features for big homes and those who don't need extra things.

Cleaning mechanics

Both robots have the same suction and cleaning system. Two silicone rollers, climbing ability, and battery life.

The self-cleaning station only empties the dustbin's content, it doesn't wash the pad or fill the water tank

The dustbin has a different design: the Q5 Pro+ comes with a dustbin and a separate water tank underneath while the Q8 Max+ comes with a 2-in-1 bin that contains a bigger electric water tank.

Since both robots have 5,500Pa, they are not suitable for deep carpet cleaning. The robots are made for surface vacuuming and can climb on medium-pile carpets but will not replace your traditional vacuum if you want the same vacuuming performance.

The mopping system is not the same

The two use gravity-fed and electric water tanks.

The Roborock Q8+ is a better pick if you are going to use mopping every other cleaning cycle.

Roborock Q5 Pro+

Strong suction

Best affordable for homes with carpets

The Roborock Q5 Pro+ is a robot for hard floors and some carpeted areas. It has mopping but it is not for those who want to use it regularly since it is not as convenient to use as an electric one.

A great buy if you don't want to use mopping on a big hard floor area since the water tank is small but as a device to keep the floors clean is worth buying.

Object recognition and DuoRoller system for carpets and some hard floors

The Roborock Q8 Max+ is the only one in the lineup that defines and avoids small objects.

An advanced and bigger water tank makes the robot suitable for homes with a big hard floor area. However, the Q series mopping system is basic and far from what you see in the Qrevo series. A great buy for the price if you don't need fancy extras.

To sum up

If you want to use the mopping system every other cleaning cycle, get the Roborock Q8 Max+. Especially when it's on sale and is cheaper than the Q5 Pro+.

For those who don't need mopping as much, consider buying the Roborock Q5 Pro+. A reliable robot vacuum with Roborock's performance.
