Mapping & navigation
The oldest E20 does not remember your floor plan and moves ranbomly. It is not as efficient as the others and would be ideal for small spaces.
The E30 and E31 have a gyroscope which means the robots do not miss a spot as the clean. You can track its movements in realt-time in the app.
The S31 is guided by a Lidar. The difference between two technologies is significant. With the S31, you can set no-go zones, zoned cleaning or send the robot to a particular room. The maps created by Lidar are more precise. The S31 starts creating a map before it starts cleaning while the E30 and E31 bump into things and this is how it knows location of objects and walls.
In a complex layour Lidar is always better as it is more precise as well as is allows setting digital no-go zones in clutered areas.
Real-time mapping
The robots with mapping allow tracking them in real-time in the app so you always know where it has been. You can not do this with the E20.
What is a virtual walls feature
Virtual walls can be physical (magnetic strip) or digital (set in the app). Magnetic strips are not as convenient to use and are limited by its length but both types are invented to do the same thing: to prevent the robot from crossing some areas where it can get stuck.
Only the S31 supports digital virtual zones.
Carpet boost
The Kyvol Cybovac automatically increases suction on carpet up to 1,500 Pa. Once it steps out of the carpet, it returns to the previous suction level. It helps to optimize battery life. All models have this feature.
Climbing ability
Climbing ability matters for homes that have tall obstacles and thresholds as well as thick carpets. The oldest and cheapest E20 is not suitable for medium-pile carpets.
The E30, S31, and I believe E31 too have an increased climbing ability and can go over medium-pile carpets.
All models work well on low-pile carpets and hard floors.
Mopping & electronic water tank
The Cybovac E31 and S31 are 2-in-1 devices. Those two come with a water tank in the box. The E31 has a bigger water tank that allows setting water level output in the app depending on mopping tasks. The S31 has a small container with a grafity-fed system which means you can’t control water dripping.
The E31 is better for bigger hard floor areas. The S31 is good for people who do not use the app as much.
Can a Kyvol work in a big home?
The model with random navigation is not recommended for a big cleaning area. It would get lost and might never clean some rooms as it does not remember your home layout.
Gyroscope-guided and S31 robots are more suitable for a big home. Those at least know where to clean and can cover a whole cleaning area.
The S31 would be the best for cluttered homes as it supports no-go zones that are more convenient to use than the magnetic strips.
What is resumption?
When the robot runs out of energy, it automatically returns to the charging dock, recharges itself, and then get back to finish cleaning from the area it left before.
This helps if you live in a big home and the robot might not cover it in one charge. Only the S31 has resumption.
Alexa & Google Home compatibility
If you have Alexa or Google Home, you can control a Kyvol with voice commands. Those are limited by start and stop the robot, you can not make it work in a particular room. All models are integrated with Alexa and Google Home.
Kyvol Cybovac E20
The cheapest
The Kyvol Cybovac E20 does not have mapping which means it bounces around more or less randomly. The downside of this is potential areas that can be left untouched. The robot goes over the same spots twice and might miss other zones as it does not remember the floor plan.
The E20 is WiFi-enabled which means it can be connected to the app. With your smartphone, you can start and stop the robot as well as setting cleaning modes and scheduling it to work at a specific time.
A big 600 ml dustbin holds lots of debris and is ideal for pet owners.
As to cleaning performance, the robot has 2,000 Pa of suction and carpet recognition which means it automatically turns on suction when steps on one. This helps to save battery life. Because of having 0.63 in / 15 mm climbing ability, it is not suitable for medium-pile carpets but does the job on thin ones.
HEPA filter makes the Cybovac E20 safe for allergy-sufferers
A 3,200 mAh battery gives up to 150 minutes of runtime on the lowest power settings. Since the robot randomly moves around we do not recommend it for big homes as it might work in one room a few times and never get to other rooms.
Also, the machine is equipped with a sensor that recognizes a magnetic strip that comes in the box with the robot.
Thanks to a short body, the robot can go under most furniture.
After the battery runs out of energy, it automatically returns to the dock.
The robot does not remember your floor plan. It might vacuum one room and the other room and then return to the first room and run there until its battery is out of charge.
The robot comes in two color options, white and black.
Compared to the E20, the upgraded E30 has a gyroscope that saves cleaning time as well as increases efficiency.
It also has more suction, and increased climbing ability.
As well as the E20, the E30 comes in two color options, white and black.
With a big dustbin, the robot is suitable for pet owners. A short body allows the robot to reach most places. It also has carpet identification.
A 3,200 mAh battery gives you up to 150 minutes of cleaning but because of having mapping, the E30 is more efficient than the E20 and covers a bigger area.
The robot comes with boundary strips in the box.
The app allows setting schedules, start and stop the robot as well as selecting cleaning mode.
After the robot finishes cleaning, it returns to the dock automatically.
Kyvol Cybovac E20 vs. E30
- Better suction
- Increased climbing ability
- The E30 follows a purposeful pattern
- It also remembers your floor plan
- Can be tracked in the app
- Because of having a gyroscope, the Cybovac E30 is more efficient
To sum up
The Kyvol Cybovac E20 is not suitable for big homes as it might get lost and never get to some rooms. But it is a decent budget robot vacuum for small spaces with a clean layout and thin carpets.
The Kyvol Cybovac E30 is a good robot vacuum for average homes with low to medium-pile carpets as well as pet owners.
The Kyvol Cybovac E31 is the only model in the lineup with a large 300 ml electronic water tank. In the app, you can set a water level output which makes it suitable for different mopping jobs. It has three levels of water volume.
The robot also has a short body and automatically increases suction on carpet.
The E31 is guided by a gyroscope and follows a back-and-forth navigation pattern which means the robot remembers your floor layout and does not miss a spot as it cleans. You can track its movements in real-time in the app.
The app allows setting water level, cleaning mode, start and stop the robot as well as scheduling it.
A big dustbin makes it suitable for pet owners. As well, it supports boundary strips that come in the box.
The Cybovac delivers 2,200 Pa of power and can run up to 150 minutes.
When the battery is out of charge, the robot automatically returns to the dock.
Kyvol Cybovac E31 vs. E30
- The E31 is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum with an additional mopping option
- It comes with an electronic water tank and you can set different water output in the app
To sum up
The Kyvol Cybovac E30 is a good buy for someone who do not need mopping. Other than the mopping function, there is no difference between the two.
The Kyvol Cybovac E31 is a device for someone who want the robot to be a mop and a vacuum.
The Kyvol Cybovac S31 is the only robot vacuum in the model line that is guided by Lidar and comes with a self-emptying bin.
Features
- Has an auto-emptying bin that holds debris for up to 60 days depending on usage
- Lasts as long as 240 minutes
- Quieter than most robots
- Can climb onto obstacles as tall as 20 mm (0.79 in)
- Supports digital no-go zones
- Has zoned cleaning
- Can work in a specific room
- Creates an accurate map thanks to Lidar
- Supports magnetic tapes but does not come with one in the box
- Resumes cleaning after recharging to finish the cycle
- Comes with a water tank and can work as a mop too
- Compatible with Alexa and Google Home
Lidar technology creates an accurate map and allows setting no-go zones, order the robot to clean a specific area or a certain room. Because the map being more precise, the S31 is more efficient which means it finishes cleaning faster than other models.
The main selling point of the S31 is an auto-emptying bin. It holds up to 60 robot’s bins and is essential for pet owners. When the robot returns to the dock, the bin sucks up the debris automatically.
The S31 comes with a small water tank that has a gravity-fed system so you can’t control water output. This is good for small areas and suitable for people who don’t want to use the app as the robot mops.
The main point of buying the S31 is a self-emptying bin. The bin holds enough debris to not being worried about emptying it for up to 60 days.
The manufacturer claims the robot is quieter than most models out there making only 45 dB of noise.
Like the other Kyvol models, the S31 increases suction on carpet automatically. It can climb an obstacle as tall as 20 mm (0.79 in) which makes it suitable for medium-pile carpets but not shaggy ones.
The robot has a big 5,200 mAh battery that gives you up to 240 minutes of runtime (on low power settings) covering 300 square meters (3230 sqft) of a cleaning area. Moreover, in big homes the robot might not finish cleaning on one charge so it returns to the dock, recharges, and then gets back to the same spot to finish cleaning.
The Kyvol S31 is suitable for big homes
The robot comes with a 110 ml water tank which is good for smaller areas. It does not let you set water level output and is not capable of removing stubborn stains. But this is a good thing for those who don’t want to use the app as much. It is also a nice feature to have to maintain your floors clean for a longer period of time.
If you have Alexa and Google Home, you can control your robot with voice commands.
As to smart features, the robot supports no-go zones, zoned cleaning, and also has room select. Aside from that, it has a sensor that detects boundary strips but the strips are not included in the box.
The no-go zones keep the robot from going to certain zones where it potentially can get stuck. The boundary strips do the same thing but not as convenient to use.
Zoned cleaning and room selection are similar features. Both make the robot work in certain zones but the room select can be turned on by simply tapping on a room while the zoned cleaning is activated by drawing a zone on the map.
Kyvol Cybovac S31 vs. E31
- Different mapping technologies. The S31 builds an accurate map and allows to interact with the map. It is also more gentle with obstacles.
- Self-emptying bin. The S31 has a self-emptying charging dock that empties the dustbin automatically. This is essential for pet owners.
- No-go zones. Both support magnetic strips but the S31 also has digital virtual walls that are more convenient to use.
- Zoned cleaning. The S31 can be ordered to work in a particular place.
- Room cleaning. It also can clean a particular room.
