Self-washing station
Dreame made an auto-maintenance station with the following features:
- Auto-empty. Sucks the dustbin's content into the disposable bag.
- Auto-fill water & detergent. Fills the water tank. The latest models come with a detergent container to supply it to the water tank.
- Auto-wash the mopping pads and washboard. Older models do not wash the washboard and wash the pads with cold water. The latest do so with hot water.
- Drying the mopping pads. The mopping pads are getting dried with hot water after mopping.
The X series has a redesigned compact station and a detergent tank compatible with any detergent. The Dreame X50 Ultra washes and dries the washboard with warm water and hot air.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
Dreame robots use LDS to navigate, the latest X50 has the latest technology, and retracts the tower under furniture.
The three have the same object avoidance system; the X50 Ultra has the most advanced technology and recognizes about 200 types of objects.
How good is mopping
Dreame uses two rotating pads for mopping that the robot washes and dries after cleaning. If it doesn't need the mopping system, it automatically leaves the pads on the station.
Depending on how dirty some areas are, the Dreame returns to the dock for rewashing (Except for the Dreame X30 Ultra).
Along the walls, the Dreame X series extends and swings the pads to get deeper into corners.
Dreame X30 Ultra
The Dreame X30 Ultra is the oldest robot vacuum with premium features that lack some options like dirt detect, side brush lift & extend, etc.
The robot, however, is rich-featured compared to other robots in this price range.
Dreame X40 Ultra
The next gen has more power, dirt detection, and lifts the side brush.
Extends a side brush and mop to reach walls and corners
The Dreame X40 Ultra is one of the best robots on the market. It doesn't have the latest features, but it is great for the price.
Dreame X50 Ultra
The Dreame X50 Ultra is the best robot vacuum in the lineup so far. It is equipped with the Industry-First ProLeap system, which is a step that helps the robot to climb up to 1.65in.
The ProLeap works the way of a two-layer threshold, where the gap between steps should be greater than 1.57in.
Smart Dirt Detection 2.0 checks the water to find stains and gives them a deep clean. This tech can tell apart solids, liquids, or a mix, making sure every spot is gone for a perfect clean.
Depending on cleaning tasks, the robot lifts the roller, mopping pads, and a side brush. This is the only robot in the series that uses two rollers.
The first two roller systems (bristled & rubber) maintain hair tangles and do the job on carpet and hard floor surfaces
The AceClean DryBoard cleans and dries the dashboard so it doesn't stink after mopping.
Compared to the Dreame X40 Ultra, the Dreame X50 Ultra:
- uses two rollers instead of one
- has more power
- has a much better obstacle-climbing ability
- hides the LDS under furniture, making the robot only 89 mm tall
- washes the station with warm water
- new dashboard cleaning technology.
Which one to buy?
The Dreame X30 Ultra is a great device for homes with low-pile carpets and hard floors. The mopping system is advanced, but it is not as good as in the latest generations. With a lower price tag, you get a decent robot that might not have the latest technologies yet is a premium robot vacuum.
With upgraded navigation and more power, consider getting the Dreame X40 Ultra. It is a polished robot vacuum that works as smoothly as possible, only lacks some of the upgrades the X50 Ultra has.
The Dreame X50 Ultra is the latest and most-featured robot vacuum. It climbs a higher obstacle, hides LDS without reducing the quality of the created map, washes and dries the dashboard so it doesn't stink after some time, and has two rollers for better performance. However, because it's new, some users notice the robot stepping over obstacles rather than avoiding them, which affects navigation. So if you are willing to wait for the software update the Dreame should release, get one. If you want the robot that works the way it should, have a look at the Drfeame X40 Ultra for now.
