Mopping technology

The two robots have different mopping systems: two onboard tanks, for clean and dirty water, and a fluffy roller and classic two rotating mopping pads.

The system keeps the roller clean in real-time as the robot mops (Mova), and the Dreame returns to the dock to get the pads cleaned.

The newest mopping system consumes less water compared to competitors, thanks to the dual water tank system and a consistently clean roller.

Both robots have advanced stain detection. For light stains, it performs a quick re-mop. For tougher messes, it activates Deep Re-mop Mode.

When the robot returns to the station, the roller/pads get washed with heated water and dried with hot air.

Self-cleaning station features:

  • Auto-emptying
  • Washing the roller/pads with hot water
  • Hot air drying the roller/pads
  • Auto-filling solution
  • Filling the water container
  • Self-cleaning
  • Dirt detection

Compared to the Dreame, the Mova has two onboard containers that collect wastewater. The station is made for maintaining the roller type of mopping, while the Dreame has two pads.

ProLeap climbing system

Compared to the Mova, the L50 Ultra is an older-gen robot with standard mopping technology and LDS navigation. It knows fewer objects and its self-cleaning station is made for rotating mopping pads.

Mopping features:

  • Two mopping pads.
  • The side brush and pad extend along the obstacles.
  • Wash and dry the pads after the job.
  • Auto mop removal in a vacuuming-only mode.
  • Add the solution to the water container.
  • Lift the pads on carpet.
  • RoboSwing & Mop extend

The Dreame L50 Ultra features the premium X series ProLeap system that ensures better climbing ability.

ProLeap system helps crossing higher obstacles

The station has the premium options such as hot water washing and drying the pads, water tank refill, cleaning solution, and self-emptying.

Upgraded station cleans & dries the washboard after self-cleaning

The upgraded AceClean DryBoard uses hot water for washing the pads and for self-cleaning. After that, it dries the washboard.

MOVA

The Mova comes with an extra accessory kit, which is rare.

Smart Dirt Detection 2.0 checks the water to identify stains and provides a deep clean. This tech can tell apart solids, liquids, or a mix, making sure every spot is gone for a perfect clean.

Climbs higher steps | New mopping technology

Hides the LDS tower under furniture | has a dual roller system

Depending on cleaning tasks, the robot lifts the roller, mopping pads, and a side brush. It uses two rollers.

When detecting low obstacles, such as a shag rug, it automatically lifts the entire chassis for a smoother glide, helping to avoid dragging and missing debris.

AI-Powered LiftPro Chassis lift the robot on carpet

Mopping features:

  • Two onboard water tanks
  • The system keeps the roller clean as the robot mops
  • The roller extends along the walls and corners
  • The station absorbs wasted water
  • The station washes and hot air dries the roller after cleaning
  • The robot has a cover that keeps the carpets dry in a mopping mode

This mopping system is known for its effectiveness and consumes less water

The robot features a two-roller system that helps maintain hair tangle-free and efficiently cleans both carpet and hard floor surfaces.

Since it retracts the LDS tower under furniture, it gets shorter compared to the Dreame.

AutoShield detects carpets, retracts the mop, and deploys shields to block moisture.

The Mova covers the roller on carpet

Compared to the Dreame, the Mova:

  1. Has more power, better for carpets
  2. Efficient mopping system
  3. Covers a mopping roller on carpets
  4. Retracts LDS under furniture
  5. Knows more objects to avoid
  6. Climbs higher obstacles
  7. Has a dual solution compartment

Overall, it seems like the Mova is a better value than the Dreame.

To sum up

The two robots have similar cleaning mechanics, mopping systems, and navigation.

The Mova seems to know more objects to avoid and has smoother navigation. It also has retractable legs for a better climbing ability and retractable LDS, which makes the body shorter in tight spaces. It is a better buy for carpeted homes and has efficient mopping compared to the older-gen rotating pads.

The Dreame L50 Ultra is a good buy if you don't have carpets and are ok with the older-style mopping technology.
