Neato produces robot vacuum cleaners that have a special D-shape with a rounded back and squared-off front for cleaning wall edges and corners.
Botvac Connected, D3 Connected, D5 Connected, and D7 Connected support Wi-Fi. All the following models can be controlled via your smartphone using the associated Neato app. The app supports both: Android and iOS systems.
D3 Connected, D5 Connected, D7 Connected, and Botvac Connected are compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Neato Chatbot, IFTTT, smartwatches and other smart devices.
Vacuuming Technology SpinFlow
Along with potent suction, Neato uses the combo brush to pick up stuff that lands on the floor providing a super-powered clean. This technology is called SpinFlow.
The newest models such as Botvac Connected and D7 Connected come with exclusive Turbo and Eco modes. On Eco mode, the robots work quieter and longer. Turbo mode delivers a strong suction with a maximum pickup.
Laser Smart Navigation
Neato uses an infrared laser for scanning the surroundings and building an accurate map of the room. Then the robot automatically plans the most efficient way of cleaning being able to clean without bumping into things, and never missing a spot. D80 and D85 also use this technology but in the latest Connected versions, the mapping feature is seriously upgraded. The ones that come with Neato's app, allow its owner to see the map, cleaning statistics, and cleaning summary.
Neato uses an anti-allergen high-performance filtration system. One of the oldest versions D3 Connected comes with the Standart filter.
Neato D80/D85 use High-Performance filter that is perfect for homes with pets and allergy sensitivities. The filters capture fine dust particles and reduce allergens as small as 3 microns in size.
Neato D5 Connected, D7 Connected, and Botvac Connected come with Ultra-performance filters. It catches small 0.3 microns particles minimizing particulates in the air.
Neato's robots come with the following cleaning brush types: a blade brush, a combo brush, a spiral combo brush, and a side brush. The brushes were designed to pick up dirt, dust and debris from carpets handles pet hair and works on all types of floor. The side brush allows the robot to get deep into corners and right up against walls. Along with Neato's powerful suction, the cleaning brushes and the side brush make the perfect combo for maximum pickup.
Recharge & Resume
All the Neato robots have recharge & resume feature which means the device will come back after recharging to resume the job where it was interrupted in case a room is only partially cleaned but its battery runs low.
Floor types cleaning
Neato robots clean all floor types, whether vacuuming a carpet or hard floors such as hardwood, tile or vinyl. The only surface Neato machines have hard times - high-pile carpets and rugs. In fact, we haven't seen the robovac that would clean high-pile carpets better than an upright vacuum..
You can set up cleaning at a specific time up to 7 times a week.
As a virtual wall barrier, Neato uses Boundary markers to prevent the robot from entering off-limit areas. These things are made of magnetic strips, you only need to cut the needed amount and fit it in the areas you don't want the robot to go. You can also set virtual walls by just drawing as many lines as you want on the map on your smartphone. All the Neato bots come with the magnetic strips, except Neato D3 Connected that does not include it in the box. Additional Boundary Marker rolls can be bought separately if needed.
Neato D3 Connected, D5 Connected, D7 Connected and Botvac Connected can be controlled via voice commands or the app. However, D80/D85 do not support Wi-Fi as well as do not have a remote controller. It has a display on the top that you can use to command the robot.
Neato provides a 1-year warranty. There is also a Warranty of 6-months that applies to batteries.
Which Neato is better?
Why didn't we review the oldest robovacs from Neato? The new technologies bring new cool features making old robots not that nice anymore.
Again, it's hard to decide which Neato robot is better. Depends on your own preference and budget. They all have a different design, about the same vacuuming technology and filtration system that prevents allergies.
If you want a 21-century related robot with a possibility to speak to it using your Alexa or Google Home - go with D3 connected, D5 Connected, Botvac Connected or D7 Connected which is the newest one, by the way.
For those who have a bigger house than average get the Botvac Connected or D7 Connected that covers the whole 5000 square feet (about 460 square meters) in one charge and run longer - about 120 minutes.
For those who have a cat or a dog - go with D5 Connected, D7 Connected or Botvac Connected because they got more suction power and the cleaning brushes that were designed for maximum pet hair pickup.
People who suffer from asthma and allergies we would recommend getting the newest Connected series, but in case you are on a low budget, D80 or D85 is still a good choice to buy even in 2018.
