Mapping & navigation
The oldest E20 does not remember your floor plan and moves ranbomly. It is not as efficient as the others and would be ideal for small spaces.
The E30 and E31 have a gyroscope which means the robots do not miss a spot as the clean. You can track its movements in realt-time in the app.
The S31 is guided by a Lidar. The difference between two technologies is significant. With the S31, you can set no-go zones, zoned cleaning or send the robot to a particular room. The maps created by Lidar are more precise. The S31 starts creating a map before it starts cleaning while the E30 and E31 bump into things and this is how it knows location of objects and walls.
In a complex layour Lidar is always better as it is more precise as well as is allows setting digital no-go zones in clutered areas.
Real-time mapping
The robots with mapping allow tracking them in real-time in the app so you always know where it has been. You can not do this with the E20.
What is a virtual walls feature
Virtual walls can be physical (magnetic strip) or digital (set in the app). Magnetic strips are not as convenient to use and are limited by its length but both types are invented to do the same thing: to prevent the robot from crossing some areas where it can get stuck.
Only the S31 supports digital virtual zones.
Carpet boost
The Kyvol Cybovac automatically increases suction on carpet up to 1,500 Pa. Once it steps out of the carpet, it returns to the previous suction level. It helps to optimize battery life. All models have this feature.
Climbing ability
Climbing ability matters for homes that have tall obstacles and thresholds as well as thick carpets. The oldest and cheapest E20 is not suitable for medium-pile carpets.
The E30, S31, and I believe E31 too have an increased climbing ability and can go over medium-pile carpets.
All models work well on low-pile carpets and hard floors.
Mopping & electronic water tank
The Cybovac E31 and S31 are 2-in-1 devices. Those two come with a water tank in the box. The E31 has a bigger water tank that allows setting water level output in the app depending on mopping tasks. The S31 has a small container with a grafity-fed system which means you can’t control water dripping.
The E31 is better for bigger hard floor areas. The S31 is good for people who do not use the app as much.
Can a Kyvol work in a big home?
The model with random navigation is not recommended for a big cleaning area. It would get lost and might never clean some rooms as it does not remember your home layout.
Gyroscope-guided and S31 robots are more suitable for a big home. Those at least know where to clean and can cover a whole cleaning area.
The S31 would be the best for cluttered homes as it supports no-go zones that are more convenient to use than the magnetic strips.
What is resumption?
When the robot runs out of energy, it automatically returns to the charging dock, recharges itself, and then get back to finish cleaning from the area it left before.
This helps if you live in a big home and the robot might not cover it in one charge. Only the S31 has resumption.
Alexa & Google Home compatibility
If you have Alexa or Google Home, you can control a Kyvol with voice commands. Those are limited by start and stop the robot, you can not make it work in a particular room. All models are integrated with Alexa and Google Home.
Kyvol Cybovac E20
The cheapest
The Kyvol Cybovac E20 does not have mapping which means it bounces around more or less randomly. The downside of this is potential areas that can be left untouched. The robot goes over the same spots twice and might miss other zones as it does not remember the floor plan.
The E20 is WiFi-enabled which means it can be connected to the app. With your smartphone, you can start and stop the robot as well as setting cleaning modes and scheduling it to work at a specific time.
A big 600 ml dustbin holds lots of debris and is ideal for pet owners.

As to smart features, the robot supports no-go zones, zoned cleaning, and also has room select. Aside from that, it has a sensor that detects boundary strips but the strips are not included in the box.
