Features Comparison Chart

Both robots are similar yet have some differences. Nevertheless, the Roborock S5 is an older model, the manufacturer updates it and now it has room cleaning and all the features the new high-end models have. Let’s see what are the difference between the two.

Navigation

Both robots are guided by an LDS sensor located on top. This laser scans a cleaning area to build a high-precise map of the house. Because of the map, the robot knows where to clean. It follows a purposeful back-and-forth navigation pattern that helps to cover the whole area without missing a spot.

With a bunch of sensors, the robot doesn’t bump as much into furniture compared to randomly-moving robots.

In terms of navigation, the Roborock is slightly better but not as noticeable in a day-to-day cleaning.

App features

  1. No-go zones to keep the robot off some cluttered zones
  2. Zoned cleaning orders the robot to clean within a particular area.
  3. Room cleaning allows the robot to clean a specific room or a few.

Aside from these features, you can also start/stop and schedule the robot on par with other options such as cleaning history or tracking accessories to be replaced if needed etc.

The Xiaomi also has no-mop zones that keep the robot off the carpet in mopping mode. The difference between no-go and no-mop zones is that no-mop zones become inactive when mopping attachments are off.

Both robots work with the Mi Home app.

Mopping

The Roborock has a simple water tank that just lets water to leak when the robot moves. It doesn’t have water level control and is also smaller than the Xiaomi’s container.

The Xiaomi allows setting water level output depending on mopping needs.

The Xiaomi has two containers in the box: a dustbin and a 2-in-1 container that holds dust and water. The Roborock has a separated water tank and dustbin.

The Xiaomi follows a dedicated navigation pattern (Y-shape) in mopping mode. Because of this, it is able to remove stains but spends more time cleaning one room than the Roborock.

Because of the Y-shape, the Xiaomi is better at mopping

Which one is better for carpet?

The Roborock senses carpeted surface and automatically boosts suction when steps on one. The Xiaomi lacks such feature.

Because of carpet boost, the Roborock’s battery is more efficient.

Battery life & Performance

The Roborock lasts longer and is more suitable for bigger homes. Along with that, it is louder than the Xiaomi.

In our tests, the Roborock shows better results on carpets and vacuuming hard floors. It is also slightly better at navigation as Roborock is known for its algorithms.

The Xiaomi is better at mopping because of the Y-shape, electronic water tank, and a bigger container.

To Sum Up

The Roborock S5 is better for big homes with mostly carpeted surface and some hard floor areas.

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P is a good choice if you want a mopping robot.

Hi Hardi. Sorry for misleading you, the Xiaomi's filter can be washed with water too.

I am not sure. Everyone is waiting for the update to come but it's not there yet so I have no clue.

Does the Xiaomi Vaccum robot have Alexa support?

Natalie Red ⋅ 4 years ago #

It does not. There was a mistake in its specifications, my apologies.
