Features Comparison Chart

The Roborock S6 and S5 max are high-end models in the lineup and at the first sight look like identical models.

Both are guided by Lidar and follow the same navigation pattern. Both do a great job at vacuuming, there is no significant difference between the two in terms of cleaning performance.

Let's talk about mopping. This might be one of the most significant differences between the two.

Mopping:

  1. Water tank size (290 ml vs. 140 ml)
  2. Accessories. The S5 Max lacks disposable wipes and extra mopping cloth
  3. With the S5 Max, you can control water output via the app

The Roborock S6 comes with a bunch of accessories including 10 disposable wipes and 2 mopping cloths. It has a smaller water container that also works as a mopping pad.

The water tank has a switch so you can toggle it to let out water depending on your mopping needs.

The Roborock S6 is not suitable for big mopping areas as it has a small water tank. It would not remove stubborn stains but mopping is good enough to keep the floors clean for as long as possible.

The Roborock S5 Max has one mopping cloth and its water tank is always attached. The robot has a mopping pad that should be inserted before mopping starts. Because of the mopping pad attached, there is a luft that allows pressing the pad closer to the floor. This way the Roborock S5 Max is able to get rid of stains and is overall performs better than the S6 at mopping. The water tank is electronic which means in the app, you can choose a water output level depending on mopping jobs. The container itself is the biggest in the lineup, it holds 290 ml of water which is enough to cover a relatively big area of hard floor.

The Roborock S5 Max is an ideal robot vacuum + mop that can be used in homes with bigger areas of hard floors and also where a better quality mopping needed.

The Roborock S6 is an ideal option for those who want mopping but don't want to use the app as much to switch between water output levels.

The Roborock S5 Max is good if you have a big area to mop and occasionally have stains to remove.

App

  • Customizing suction power and water level for each room
  • Ability to schedule the robot with saved customized settings
  • Ability to control the water level output

Both models support the Roborock and Mi Home app. The number of options is about the same too. Some differences would be in customization cleaning settings the S5 Max has.

With the S5 Max, you can set suction power and water level output for each room as well as scheduling mopping only at a particular time.

For example, you need to set cleaning mode at Max for the living room and water output at low settings. And do balanced mode for the kitchen with high water output settings. With the saved settings you can schedule the robot to work in a certain room or the whole place.

And as is said before, the S5 Max allows setting water level output in the app.

Other Differences

  • Noise level
  • Bigger accessories set for the S6
  • Shutting off the power button lights

The Roborock S6 is the quietest robot vacuum in the model line. It also has more accessories in the box including an extra HEPA filter, disposable wipes, and an extra mopping cloth. The Roborock S6 also allows shutting the power button indicator off.
