Mapping technology works the same in both models. It is based on a laser sensor that scans the layout of the room and then calculates the best way of cleaning based on the map the robot has created. The laser allows working in the dark. Both robots deliver the same level of noise. Each of the machines is equipped with a bunch of sensors that help it to navigate around, recognize obstacles and avoid drop-offs. You can see both of them cleaning in real-time using the app.
What are the main differences between the ECOVACS Deebot 900/901 and the Xiaomi Mi Robot
- The Deebot is equipped with a suction inlet and main brush. The inlet is ideal for bare floors preventing hair clogging
- The Xiaomi Mi Robot works 50 minutes longer. Both resume cleaning when the battery runs low
- The ECOVACS app allows to set blocked areas, customize the zone where the robot should clean, and prioritize to clean high traffic rooms first
- The ECOVACS is able to recognize bare floors and carpet flooring (you can see it on the map)
- Seems like the Deebot's brush gets tangled with hair easily, while the Mi Robot's doesn't wrap that much hair. Though, the Deebot 900/901 comes with the suction inlet that prevents hair to get clogged
- Based on consumer reviews, the Xiaomi Mi Robot performs better on some medium-pile carpets than the Deebot 900/901 does
- The Deebot stored the map it created after it's done with cleaning. The Mi Robot rebuilds the layout every time it starts working
- The ECOVACS is equipped with two side brushes. The Mi Robot has one
- The Deebot 900/901 is able to cross 18 mm obstacles. The Xiaomi can cross an obstacle up to 15 mm
- The Xiaomi dustbin holds more trash than ECOVACS does. You need to empty the container more often.
