Mapping technology

Ozmo: ECOVACS uses the LIDAR technology. A laser located inside its "head" scans the room building a map of the cleaning area. After that, the machine schedules the most efficient cleaning path. With Smart Navi technology, the Deebot Ozmo 930 knows where it is, cleans more efficiently, and provides real-time mapping of your floor plan.

Roomba: its Smart Mapping and vSLAM technology help to navigate your home, keeping track of where it’s been and where it has yet to clean. It uses a camera sensor to create a map.

When batteries run low, both the ROOMBA 980 and DEEBOT OZMO 930 robots return to their docking station and recharge. Note that, both robots are able to resume automatically the cleaning job where it was interrupted before going to the docking station to recharge. They continue this way until the job is done and the whole level of your home is cleaned.

What are the main differences between the Roomba 980 and the ECOVACS Deebot Ozmo 930

  • Roomba 980 comes with a camera. Deebot Ozmo 930 uses a laser to create a map of the layout
  • Laser is more accurate and allows the robot to work in the dark. Because of drop sensors confusion, the Roomba 980 doesn't work on dark carpets thinking it's a drop-off.
  • Deebot Ozmo 930 is a 2-in-1 robot cleaner. It sweeps and mops at the same time making the robot suitable for bare floors
  • Because of its OZMO mopping system, the ECOVACS Deebot doesn't mop carpeted surface. Once the robot stop working, it stops dampening the cloth
  • ECOVACS Deebot Ozmo 930 is able to recognize carpets and bare floors, you can see it in the app
  • Roomba 980 is equipped with rubber rollers that work best at picking up pet hair. These brushes are tangle-free. The Ozmo 930 comes with a suction inlet and the main brush. The inlet is ideal for bare floors while the brush performs better on a carpeted surface
  • The Deebot is less loud when working
  • Physical vs. virtual walls. The Roomba 980 comes with a physical dual virtual wall barrier in the box to prevent the robot from entering some areas. The ECOVACS app allows defining the boundary to block some areas
  • With the ECOVACS app, you can customize areas you want the robot to clean or prioritize to clean high-traffic areas first
  • Roomba 980 get a bigger dustbin that holds more dust, and debris
  • Upgraded iRobot dirt detect sensors recognize concentrated areas of dirt and prompt the robot to clean them more thoroughly
  • Roomba 980 has a full dustbin indicator that alerts when the container needs to be emptied
  • Ozmo 930 is taller because of its tower and might not get under some places
  • The Deebot is cheaper than the Roomba 980.
