Recently, iRobot has launched two new innovative products: the iRobot Roomba s9+ with a self-emptying charging base and a robot mop - the Braava Jet m6. The new s9+ model has maybe the most powerful suction and as a result, the best carpet cleaning performance in the industry. Another important feature of this robot is automatic dirt disposal, the charging base that empties the robot's dustbin after each cleaning. This feature is helpful for those who have pets since robot vacuum cleaners tend to have a small dust container which has to be emptied during a cleaning cycle. The price for the Roomba s9 without the self-emptying charging base starts from $899.00 and $1099.99 for the Roomba s9+ model which comes with the self-emping charging base.
Both products can work in tandem thanks to the new Imprint Link technology. By using the iRobot app, you can coordinate the cleaning process, for example, tell the Braava Jet m6 to clean your bare floors after the Roomba s9+ has vacuumed. Once the Roomba s9+ finishes cleaning, the Braava starts working to mop your floors.

Highlights of the Roomba s9+
- Efficient tangle-free brushless rollers are the best for pet hair.
- Might be the strongest robot vacuum cleaner on the market. iRobot does not mention how much Pa the Roomba s9+ delivers, but we suppose it is one of or the most powerful robot vacuum cleaner ever existed.
- D-shape helps to reach corners and edges.
- Self-emptying charging base holds about 30 robot's bins. All you need is to empty the base once a month.
- When the robot's dustbin gets full, the Roomba s9+ returns to the charging base to empty itself. When it's done emptying, the Roomba returns to finish cleaning.
- Selected Room Cleaning Feature. With this option, you can set the Roomba to clean a specific room.
- Scheduling. You can schedule the Roomba to clean a certain room at a specific time. For example, you can set it to clean the kitchen at 10 AM every day.
- Dirt Detect. Only the robot vacuums from iRobot have dirt detect. The robot boosts suction when it recognizes dirt.
- 30% wider rollers cover more per path and are more efficient at deep cleaning.
- If you own an Alexa-enabled device or Google Home, by saying, "Roomba, clean my kitchen,” you can make the Roomba work only within your kitchen.
The Roomba s9+ is equipped with a camera sensor onboard and a 3D sensor that, according to iRobot, helps the Roomba deal with obstacles better than before. The s9+ maps your house and saves it after cleaning; it stores up to 10 different floor plans.
iRobot claims the newest Roomba s9+ cleans edges and corners better thanks to the new design, wider rollers, and a new corner brush.
Also, one of the biggest changes is the power. According to iRobot, the newest model is 40x more powerful than the 600 series. The largest size also brings a bigger filter and a battery that’s twice as large as the most recent Roomba.
The new attractive design, stronger suction power, and integration with the Braava m6 make the Roomba s9+ one of the best robot vacuum cleaners in the industry.
New D-shaped Design
First, that comes to mind - the new body shape and design. The Roomba s9+ does not look like the Roomba we used to see. Now the body has a circle on top that lights up when the robot is charging or getting emptied.
The new Roomba s9+ has a D-shaped design. The PerfectEdge Technology with advanced sensors and new Corner Brush work together to grab dust and dirt in corners and along walls.
The new design allows the Roomba to clean corners and edges better
The new Roomba s9+ has a Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal that holds up to 30 robot's bins and works the same as the one that comes with the previous model - the Roomba i7+.
The new clean base automatic dirt disposal allows not to empty the dustbin for about a month
Roomba claims the newest robots almost, and it's partially true. It takes a few seconds to clean the brushless rollers since they are tangle-free and are perfect for pet hair. With the self-emptying charging dock, you have to clean the disposal bag about once in a month.
The new advanced brushes are 30% wider comparing to 600 series.
Inside the dustbin, a HEPA filter catches up to 99.99% pollen and allergens in the air making the Roomba perfect for allergy and asthma sufferers.
The Roomba s9+ is safe for those who suffer from an allergy and asthma
Roomba s9 vs. s9+: what is the difference?
The Roomba s9 has the same design but does not come with a self-charging charging base. The dock can be bought separately for around $350.
And, the Roomba s9 has a dual virtual wall barrier in the box, the Roomba s9+ lacks it.
Stronger Suction Power
iRobot claims the newest Roomba s9+ is 40 times more powerful than Roomba 600 series. It is a bit hard to believe though we hope the latest cleaner is more powerful than the Roomba i7+.
With strong suction, great climbing ability, and carpet boost, the Roomba s9+ performs excellently on both: bare floors and thin/thick carpets.
Imprint Link Technology
With the Roomba s9+, iRobot has launched the mopping robot Braava m6. The Imprint Link Technology allows connecting those two, so they work together, while the Roomba s9+ is vacuuming, the Braava m6 automatically mopping.
Wide Brushless Rollers
The latest Roombas come equipped with tangle-free silicone rollers. It is one of the best robot vacuum cleaners in the market for pet owners. Since the brushes do not have bristles, they do not cause hair wrapping.
Thanks to the tangle-free rollers, the Roomba s9+ is perfect for pet hair
Mapping / Selected Room Cleaning
The Roomba s9+ has a camera onboard that maps an interior of your house to make sure it knows where exactly to clean. When the robot is done mapping, it divides the map into separate rooms that you can name.
The s9+ can be scheduled to clean a kitchen or living room through the app.
They both map your home separately and store their own mapping data.
If you own an Alexa-enabled device or Google Home, you can make the Roomba work in the kitchen by using simple voice commands.
Schedule the Roomba to clean the kitchen and bedroom at a specific time
Mapping helps the robot not to miss any spot when cleaning. Once the battery gets out of charge, the Roomba returns to recharge after which the cleaner resumes cleaning from the same spot it left off.
The Roomba s9+ stores up to 10 floor plans and is perfect for multi-story houses.
The Braava Jet m6 is smart enough to detect stubborn messes and spend more time mopping them up. The Braava also maps your house as it cleans. Both devices map your home separately and store their own mapping data. To make the Braava work fill the reservoir with water slap on a cleaning pad and it is ready to go. There is also a dry pad option for quicker cleaning, which relies on electrostatic to pick up debris. When the Braava Jet is working, it spits some amount of water to soften stains and provide better mopping performance.
The new Braava is larger than its predecessor, which means it holds a larger water tank for longer cleaning cycles.
When the Roomba s9+ leaves your carpets clean, the Braava handles bare floors.
Dirt Detect & Carpet Boost
The Roomba s9+ has dirt detect that recognizes dirty areas. When the robot steps on those spots, it boosts suction power to provide deeper cleaning.
The robot also identifies carpet surface. When it steps on carpet, it boosts air power to clean carpets better.
One of the coolest features of the Roomba - full bin indicator. When the robot's dustbin that inside gets full, the cleaner automatically returns to the charging station, where the dock sucks up the dirt. When it's done, the robot continues cleaning.
The iRobot Roomba s9+ available to buy on Amazon for $1099.99.
The Roomba s9 has a ~$1,000 price tag.
Both the iRobot Roomba s9+ and Braava Jet m6 are available to buy now in North America and will be released in Europe on July 12th.
To Wrap It Up
iRobot does not specify the battery life or any other information about both of the newest robot cleaners. So far we know that the Roomba s9+ has a new design that does help it to go closer to the walls, it has stronger suction than all the previous models have, and the robot can cooperate with the Braava to leave your floors sparkling clean.
For someone spending ~$1,800 on both products might sound insane when in reality it should make cleaning effortless without you having to babysit both of them. Let’s see how it works.
